To anyone struggling with the first boss-- hold block, you don't need to rely on deflect alone and I imagine that's what some were/would be doing. This boss doesn't always punish you if he breaks your guard, so it's actually easy if you're doing this. Also consider that when pressing deflect a 2nd time, you dodge. You sort of have 2 different fail-safes.
@@kaminenianirudh It feels different to me though, i mean ive played Sekiro, this game was influenced by Sekiro, so yeah ofc it'll have those sekiro moments. I had more trouble with that first boss than any boss in Elden Ring. Not gonna lie. I was playing on the demo that had some hiccups, but I'm sure it was just my timing being off.
Never realised it but what rhe reviewer said about the first boss is pretty close with the first two nioh games. Sometimes the first 2-3 bosses end up being the hardest then you breeze through half the game before the next challenge
Being as the first boss was also the boss from the network test, it was my 3rd time beating him. He was much easier with the increased parry window and decreased heal time.
One huge thing people don’t realize is you can hold down block while hitting the parry attacks and not risk being hit. First boss was overturned but his attack pattern is incredibly simple. AoYo was the second bs wall I hit because even while wearing full heaviest armor I was still getting one shoted by it’s attack.
I beat the first boss by my 3rd time. I can understand many people will struggle, but my best advice is to stay calm, learn to parry effectively and don't get greedy with your attacks. Those attack finishers when you break an opponents spirit gauge is how you will effectively win.
I was gonna get this but after playing the demo twice I'm good this parry system has grown old on me they need to switch something up. I loved elden ring cause it gave you so many ways to play not just parry every single boss you come across
I agree, the game is pretty easy once you understand what to do. On the demo, this first boss I fought was tough. However, once I understood the mechanics and how the gameplay is, the first boss and the 2 other bosses in the demo were easy to defeat.
If you find the game too easy you can always use the willow branch item to get rid of the npc companions. I usually play without them against bosses, but summon them to help me against mobs.
Hopefully some one can answer this question: Does this seem like a game you will replay? Does the game leave room for different build variants so each play through is different? If not I absolutely loved sekiro and if this game is even a little similar I’m going to buy it.
Sekiro is a brilliant game. Excellent, imaginative level design combined with weighty combat that requires patience and timing. This is no Sekiro. These games have a common thread, which is deflecting, but beyond that they are very different. Check out the demo if it’s still available.
About what I expected. Even as far as difficulty is concerned. Hopefully the endgame has enough meat to last me until they can get out some dlc. I’m all Niohed out and need a new game that fits that Diablo like with good combat niche.
I wanna know, is this game more like Nioh, with missions where you go and fight monsters, or more like a From Soft game, where you have an interesting world to explore that you have to fight your way through or out of? Because I personally didn't like Nioh for that reason.
I finally beated the first boss Zhang Liang last night after about maybe 50 tries . I was forced to get better at parrying . I almost gave up and deleted the demo . But I persisted and now I have no regrets . Hopefully I can complete the demo . Only then will I purchase the game .
I really wanted to like this game. Nioh 2 combat, particularly with fists weapons and tonfas, is some of the best I’ve ever experienced. I cleared the demo and thought, “it’s good, but not great”. I’ll buy it in a year when it’s cheap.
Make the game more accessible, make it for a broader audience, make more money without sacrificing the essence of the game. The parrying mechanic, while appealing to a niche market does not offer broad based appeal. Rather, have boss fights set up so that if you only parry and win (keeping the sekiro timing etc in place) you get a wicked weapon drop like they did in lords of the fallen. If you beat boss contemporary style aka no parrying whatever you get a reg weapon or none at all. Turn down the boss health, upscale weapon damage a smidge and you have a great game accessible for everyone. Rather than sekrio 2.0 LOL nothing new or imaginative here
It sounds like they watered it down for the fromsoft community as usual, cause I'm hearing zero complaints from the Nioh community over several videos.
I usually don't play such games and have only beaten Elden Ring. I gave up on Nioh and Nioh 2 for being too hard. Having said then, I played the demo and beat the first boss in my 2nd attempt. I think the deflect is too OP. Its a good game that'll let many who shy away from such games, try it
2nd phase causes performance issues for me making my parry break and do nothing. It just won't register and I see the frame drop to probably 17fps while trying to parry. Game is dope af though but idk if its just me or not. I hope it gets fixed up.
I totally disagree with the first boss being one of the most difficult in gaming history. That is a stretch. In all souls like I'm used to taking upwards of 30 mins(it can't def take longer though. 9hrs on Sword Saint Isshin) to defeat a boss. This guy I beat on my first try in the demo and on the 2nd attempt when the game released. So far the most challenge I have had is the dude that copies himself (try to ignore the clones if you can) and the guy on the horse with the spear. For this to be a soulslike I would say it's on the easier end of the spectrum.
Murai is indeed notorious as one of the hardest first bosses. I didn't have trouble with him but yes, he's definitely a classic. On that note, I hope TN can get back to Ninja Gaiden one day and go back to what made the series beautiful. Back to black or NG 2 style. Not Razors Edge and def not vanilla 3. Even though Itagaki is no longer there, I think TN can pull it off.
