To be fair, the Swordsplosion is, canonically, the creation of a demented little girls imagination, filtered through an insane explosive weapons creator's advice, that you somehow dragged back into the real world, so being a little nutty is only natural.
Digistructing in the Borderlands series is essentially just very rapid 3D printing. With the guns, it's using the license that came with the gun to print an extra copy after you throw away the shoddy, explosive gun. It's like how a Sig fires when it's dropped, except instead of firing a round, it just explodes entirely.
In Lore Tediore guns are so prone to exploding in the users hands that the company decided to make it the companies signature feature where instead of reloading a new mag you throw your gun like a grenade and explode in your targets face and since you digitized the gun it can respawn into your hand fully loaded and ready to fire, at some point they decided to add AI's into the gun because smart guns became a fad.
Also their signature boxy shape is an actual design features. Not for the person using the gun mind you, but for the person selling them as it allows them to more easily be loaded into shipping containers and on shelves.
I also like to see Jonathan react to the guns of Binary Domain, which is a cyberpunk game taking place in 2080 in Japan, and the weapons that the main character squad, the Rust crew, are equipped with are basically futurized version of modern guns. And the robots that you fight also have their own standard issue guns, there's also the underground Resistance, who built their own guns. The game was developed by the same people behind the Yakuza games. I would also like to see Jonathan take a look at the guns of Vanquish, a 3rd Person Shooter from Platinum Games, the weapons ranged from futuristic assault rifles, shotguns, LMGs and pistols to energy weapons that actually use the main character's suit energy to fire, too bad Vanquish didn't sell well enough to warrant a sequel, which is a huge shame since the ending is quite abrupt. For an April's Fools special, it would be nice to see Jonathan react to the guns of Plant vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, eventhough only the zombie characters carry guns.

Guns of The First Descendent. The Tamer I can see Johnathan being confused over the 2 gas ports. or the absolute ridiculousness of some of the launchers
We gotta see totally basic, low rarity weapons from the borderlands series as well. Jonathan needs to see the more commonly encountered guns in the series.
Swordsplosion looks like it came out of 40k And for the sake of the means of launching rockets these days from aircraft changing from just being held within a rack to within pods (provided that was the question being asked). It's about aerodynamics as air flows much more stably around a single larger object as opposed to dozens of smaller objects in close proximity to one another. It's also the same reason why the Mk80 series of bombs because as jets were developed the stubbier bombs of the time often produced too much drag to get free from the jetstream of the aircraft under certain condition so the thinner longer Mk80 LDGP (Low Drag General Purpose) came in to replace older less streamlined designs like the M65, M117, and M118.
The Bane, in Borderlands 2, is really nice because it gets more accurate while you shoot it, somehow, so if you just... hold down the trigger and embrace the madness, it eventually becomes extremely accurate, and does a lot of damage, relative to most weapons.
Some episodes you feel sorry for Jonathan Ferguson. Bringing out a historic beauty like a pistol crossbow, with a 100 year story, in a video about hamburger launchers really hurt.

It's great to see him reference the Star Trek Elite Force games and their in-universe "transporter buffer" explanation for how one person carries around nearly a dozen bulky weapons. Maybe we can get his reaction/analysis of the Elite Force weapons?
A lot of what Jonathan has a problem with is the fact that they are duel-function firearms, so they have a visual indication of when you are changing fire modes. That's why things rotate or swing out.
I think the purpose of having the secondary parts of the guns, the rockets and mortars and what not, swing or pivot out is to serve as a visual cue for the player as to what they're about to fire.
It makes me happy to know even Jonathan Ferguson enjoys LGR's content. Give me THAT crossover, please. I think Clint and Jonathan would have a grand ol' time.
One thing a lot of later fans don’t realize is that the manufacturer abilities are based on stat boosts from the first game. For example vladof was always known for high capacity and fire rate, hence auto snipers from 2 on and Tediore had boosted reload speed which is why they became throwable, with the reasoning that throwing your gun and digistructing a new one is faster than reloading.
Out of all the borderlands guns, my favourite was definitely Sledge's Shotgun. A double barrel that sends your target to the moon if they didn't die instantly. The best part is that it shows up early after beating the first boss. Stuck with me for my entire playthrough of BL1.

(11506.3% Increase from previous game) Following this trend Borderlands 4 will increase the amount of weapons by ~115000% for a total of ~4,608,521,672,500 weapons. If Jonathan Ferguson spent 5 minutes per weapon, for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year (-2 weeks for holidays). It would take him 960,108,681.77 YEARS to react to every weapon. Oh Great Keeper of Firearms and Artillery at the Royal Armories Museum... please check out the guns of the Valkyria Chronicles games. And maybe Elite Force since you mentioned them.
Also awesome that you remembered the personal transporter pattern buffer on the Hazard Suit. 😁
I would suggest Bognella from the pre-sequel but it would get the video demonitized as soon as it was fired.
Please do Jedi Survivor Blasters. So many cool references there.
Guns of The First Descendent. The Tamer I can see Johnathan being confused over the 2 gas ports. or the absolute ridiculousness of some of the launchers
Having watch enough of these now, we appreciate the sacrifice of your sanity sir o7
Also, Ngl, keyboard cat gun would be awesome.
We gotta see totally basic, low rarity weapons from the borderlands series as well. Jonathan needs to see the more commonly encountered guns in the series.
Looking forward to the Keyboard Catling Gun :D
I feel like you guys could do a few episodes with Warframe, especially with the new "AX-52" AK lookalike that just came out
I just noticed it is called the Unforgiven! Really good movie right there.
I would love to see a lets play with these 2, their chemistry is hilarious
Any chance we could see a reaction to the guns of Paladins? They have a really fun mix of semi-realistic and absurd
Swordsplosion looks like it came out of 40k
And for the sake of the means of launching rockets these days from aircraft changing from just being held within a rack to within pods (provided that was the question being asked).
The joy of watching the insane guns from Borderlands slowly destroy Jonathan's sanity.
Some episodes you feel sorry for Jonathan Ferguson. Bringing out a historic beauty like a pistol crossbow, with a 100 year story, in a video about hamburger launchers really hurt.
Lol at 4:33. He looks so unimpressed with the pistol.
Ps: lol you showed him the screaming gun!!
I though that the bullets you use to reload the Unforgiving comes from your hand, but now discovering how is in reality only makes the cun even more cooler
Haha Dave's humor is on point this episode! I always like his back and forth with Jonathan in these episodes and appreciate his explanations.
Would love to see Jonathan react to the weapons of MGS3 and the more technical codec calls with Sigint.
i want to point out that the Unforgiven doesn't remove its old casings when you reload. in the slow-mo you can even see the old casings still in the cylinder before you spin it.
i hope that Jonathan Ferguson, a weapons expert and Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries at the UK can react to Generation Zero! the guns are well made and i love the way they handle. also there are some cursed ones too. i'd love to see his react to those.
also the resistance trilogy would be cool too
Now that Fallout London is finally released, it would be perfect for Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, to react to their guns
Dave finally reveals his true form.
StarFox 64's Andross.
11:55 I loved the first Elite Force game and the Personal Transporter Buffer being how we carried everything has stuck with me ever since that game
I wonder if Jonathan will ever react to the weapons of Cruelty Squad, but then I remember the visuals. Still, would make for a cool episode I think!
Johnathan Ferguson, Keeper of Facehuggers and Chestbursters at the Royal Xenomorph Zoo in the UK Which Houses a Collection of Thousands of Iconic Aliens from Throughout History.
Please can we have Jonathan's reaction to the Valkyria Chronicles series, thank you.
I think he'd get a kick out of the names of the guns in VC4. And I would love to see his reaction to an Anti-Tank Lance, both Gallian and Federation versions.
This makes me wish for an Enter The Gungeon episode.
I would really love to see Jonathan review the guns of crime boss rockay city
8:54
That's a good working relationship right there.
'Jonathan sees more Borderland guns'
Jonathan: Do people want me to loose my sanity.
Everyone: YES!
Is important to note that every weapon part is random as well. The body of the gun is the only thing that matches the brand.
Alright then, "Xenobiologist reacts" episode please for these guns!
It's great to see him reference the Star Trek Elite Force games and their in-universe "transporter buffer" explanation for how one person carries around nearly a dozen bulky weapons.
Maybe we can get his reaction/analysis of the Elite Force weapons?
5:58 "The Thing I´m thinking of that is sort of like this ... SWORD of...."
-Jonathan Fergusson
Jonathan should look at the guns of SAO Fatal Bullet and COD Advanced Warfare
I would love to see more Borderlands 1, 2, and Pre-Sequel Expert Reacts.
Seeing Jonathan correct himself that crossbows are not "fired" was deeply satisfying
19:36
17:30 Borderlands 4 looking better by the minute!
We thank Jonathan for his service.
I actually love using the "cutie killer"...while I'm playing claptrap
A lot of what Jonathan has a problem with is the fact that they are duel-function firearms, so they have a visual indication of when you are changing fire modes. That's why things rotate or swing out.
Was about to say this. Purely a gameplay design feature to tell the player that the gun is gonna do something else.
Thank you for your sacrifice, Jonathan. We appreciate it~
I think the purpose of having the secondary parts of the guns, the rockets and mortars and what not, swing or pivot out is to serve as a visual cue for the player as to what they're about to fire.
It makes me happy to know even Jonathan Ferguson enjoys LGR's content.
Give me THAT crossover, please. I think Clint and Jonathan would have a grand ol' time.
Just wait until he sees Borderlands 4 guns.
3.

Notice how they didn't show the Lyuda or Boogieman.
He might have run away after seeing those.
That would be Tediore - Maliwan's thing is elemental damage.
@@jyzow it was late. Ill fix it.
Glad you’re still uploading.
Out of all the borderlands guns, my favourite was definitely Sledge's Shotgun. A double barrel that sends your target to the moon if they didn't die instantly. The best part is that it shows up early after beating the first boss. Stuck with me for my entire playthrough of BL1.
So again I ask, No One Lives Forever/2? Hard to obtain, but surely someone around the office has an old copy?
Also +1 the Valkyria Chronicles guy
0:57 Claptrap crying, we only hear him because he's not invisible.
Looks at Jacobs revolver rifle and bigass bayonet machine pistol: "it looks weird and impractical"
Borderlands 2 and 3 weapons: "allow us to introduce ourself"
Should have had him react to Borderlands 1 guns. I always liked those the best and they aren't as insane in design as a lot of the guns from the sequels.
the insanity is the point
I miss the "Morningstar" Sniperrifle in this Video. 🤣👍
Dear Jonathan, please breakdown the weapon of Buckshot Roulette. XOXOXO 😘
16:37 "Because that's what Borderlands needs, more variety it its weapons." -Jonathan Ferguson
"Borderlands, released by Gearbox in 2009, features some 17,750,000 weapons." -Guinness World Records
Programmatically looking through the Borderlands 2 game data suggests it can generate 2,736,589 weapons.
Programmatically looking through the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel game data suggests it can generate 34,527,769 weapons. (1161.71% increase from previous game)
Borderlands 3 Datamining (numbers current as of 2020-11-09) suggests the game can generate 4,007,410,150 weapons. (11506.3% Increase from previous game)
Following this trend Borderlands 4 will increase the amount of weapons by ~115000% for a total of ~4,608,521,672,500 weapons. If Jonathan Ferguson spent 5 minutes per weapon, for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year (-2 weeks for holidays). It would take him 960,108,681.77 YEARS to react to every weapon.
All this to say "Yes Jonathan, Borderlands DOES NEED more variety in its weapons."
