Grootman, please make a video about what dealers are "allowed" to charge for, what they are "obligated" to charge for by law, and what are just "Bullsh*t" charges on the invoice that we need to watch out for. And show some real examples so e can see what terminology they use so we cannot become overwhelmed or deurmekaar. Dankie!!
Hi Anda, May you please do a video about low maintenance cars and how much they would generally cost to own, like the service, petrol and general insurance. I know with insurance, will vary depending on age, location, type of car and so on. But if you can please look at the VW Polo Vivo, Suzuki Swift, Kia Rio or Picanto, Hyundai i10 or i20, Starlet, Peugeot 108 or 208... yeah please look at those.
One of the easiest thing to do is always stay with franchise dealers. Eg. When buying a VW, go to a VW Dealership. It always makes things easier when/if there is a problem with the car etc.
I am faced with the situation that I either buy a lower-spec new model or a higher-spec used model with low mileage. In today's economic climate such bargains do exist, both in terms of private sales and in sales from car dealerships though the absolute bargains will be private sales. As I am in the process of buying a suitable vehicle I approach offerings with a draft of an offer to purchase agreement stipulating these conditions: 1) The appointment of a third party (usually a lawyer) that will act as the agent of escrow if required and as the official making a determination in the case where arbitration is required. 2) An explanation of how I want to go about the sale, 3) what type of inspections I will perform, 4) the obligation by the seller to at their own cost provide 4.1) a roadworthy certificate, 4.2) a clearance certificate as to whether microdots are present and if so a detailed description of the relevant data contained on those microdots 4.3) a police clearance certificate, 4.4) a certification from the traffic authorities that licence payments are up to date and 4.5) a certificate from the relevant traffic authorities that there are no outstanding traffic fines and, 4.6) a letter by the bank or finance company stipulating the outstanding balance, 4.7) an affidavit that there are no further fees due to any third parties in respect of the vehicle including a detailed description of those listed above. * I also make clear the intention that the outstanding balance to the bank or financing company if applicable will be settled by myself or the appointed agent of escrow and that such an amount will be subtracted from the final balance payable to the seller. Should the sale fall through for whatever reason the seller is liable for immediate refund of the amount paid to the bank to the agent of escrow that will in turn refund the prospective buyer. * I also required that the vehicle be fully and comprehensively insured up to and including the day of sale and that I fill fully insure the vehicle from and including the day of sale meaning that the insurance will overlap on and only on the date of sale but that any insurance claim resulting from that day will be made to the relevant insurance company of either the seller or the buyer that drove the car or had the car in their possession at the time of the incident related only to the date of the sale. * I will also authorise a qualified technician to go to the premises of the seller at my own expense prior to the sale to perform a comprehensive inspection, mechanical test and test drive of the vehicle. Should the sale be finalised, I will deduct 50% of that cost from the final balance paid to the seller. * If possible I will utilise a system of escrow where the payment will be made on my behalf by a legal representative that is a qualified member of the bar acceptable to both myself and the seller and I will deposit the full amount covering the payment into escrow upon acceptance of my offer to purchase. That representative will also have full power of mediation relating to a cancelled sale or any disputes between the buyer and the seller that relate to pre-existing technical problems found within a reasonable period after the date of sale. * This will not be a voetstoots sale. * Should a suitable AA-certified and approved centre be within a radius of 100km from the location of the seller, then the AA-certified comprehensive 125 point used-vehicle check will be performed prior to the acceptance of the offer to purchase. This check will be initially at the cost of the seller, but such costs will finally be spit 50/50 between seller and buyer by means of deducting 50% of the cost of the AA test from the final balance due. Should the offer to purchase be withdrawn before the final sale, the full costs will be born by the seller.. * In the case of a suitable AA certified testing site being further than 100km from the seller, then at my own cost I will within 7 days of the purchase date, have a comprehensive 125 point pre-owned checklist performed on the vehicle by an AA-certified dealer. Any major or substantial issues resulting from that check will be subject to arbitration as per the agreement. I feel that this is a fair agreement that provides the confidence in the sale going through for both the seller and buyer. However, in practice most sellers are not willing to this and in that case I have the assurance that I have not lost a great deal of money.
True I'm one who didn't know I said yes to a balloon payment... I bought a used car... Thought the dealership was reputable but wow. But we live and we learn...
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." 2 Esdras 7:75 //////////////////////,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Hi Anda , first of all great video! I want to buy a ranger double cab or king cab, whats the rule with year models and higher purchase? can i get a 2012 model on higher purchase?
Pros and Con are scenario based. What type of car, what history does it have, has it been in an accident, how much does it cost to service, how much is a tire, what is the engine warranty, life expectancy..
There's a lot of aspects to consider when buying a used car and it varies from car to car. First question you want to ask is if the previous owner took care of the car. Did they do routine service, is there any accident damage, is the car under warranty, a service plan, or motor plan. Then next how much are you wiling to spend on the car should the worst happen. Buying cash or under finance also makes a difference. Are you planning to keep the car for a year, 5 years, forever? Then that will be the basis to start the conversation before you commit your money and time. This is because you may get a car with 50000km but the owner drove it hard and didnt care for it or you may find one with 120000kms but is well taken care of and can go another 100000kms.
Am looking at buying a used status symbol car... I have in mind Benz, audi, BMW, jaguar and volvo. I have never driven any of them before. Any advice on which brand will be good in terms of reliability and maintenance.
Hi Anda, i would like to buy a used SUV car do you have any advice or do you know any reputable car dealers. This is a bit tricky for me because I only rely on Google or UA-cam because I'm out of the country. Your help will be highly appreciated.
Hello Lungani, We definitely advise towards OEM approved dealers when buying used. They genuinely offer better after market service and deals, some may even give a better deal on extended warranty. So if you want to buy a pre-owned Audi for example, try and buy from an Audi approved dealer, cause the car would have to go through extensive checks before sold.
I’m comparing 2 cars. Car A is R40k cheaper than Car B however Car A has all the specs I desire but at 80k/kms and a 5 yo car. Car B is 4 yo and doesn’t have the specs I desire but has 23k/kms. I really want to go for car A that fits my spec desires to the T. Is this a good decision? I got a mechanic to review Car A and they said all is perfect. Both cars are Mercs. Car B is being sold at Merc dealership.
Please explain on the additional fees that dealership charge the admin fee road fees car reg why are they not included on the car price. Why these extra charges?
Hi Zinhle, these charges are basically “convenience” or vehicle preparation charges. Eg. When you buy a car, the company has to do all kinds of checks to make sure it’s “roadworthy”. Then also the convenience of doing the licensing and getting plates for you. These would differ from dealer to dealer. There is no set figure.
Hey Anda, when buying a car, what are some of the extra charges a person should expect and which ones are negotiable, e.g licence registration, cost on the road etc
Hey Mercy, all prices charged are negotiable to be fair. The obvious stuff like Smash and Grab, VPS etc, those I would advise you go direct because dealers will add a mark up on that.

I want buy car price on A250 AMG 2022 model N$759000. Told dealer to come down they give me N$720000. Car having 39000km something telling me car still expensive can I go for it or not
Hie good video. Im from Zimbabwe i saw an advert on face book of a company selling used cars in Capetown. The company is called reliable auctioneers. But when i googled the company its not there. My question is, is it a scam or real? How do you differentiate between a scam or real company?
Hello Nosi. Its great that you take precaution. Alot of individuals have lost money through these online scams because before you even see the car they request a deposit saying it guarantees you have it booked. We'd say firstly please request them to send you company details via email. This includes registration, proof of account, address, etc. 9/10 if the business is only visible on Facebook and not even websites like Autotrader, then its high risk. Please email us on theridewithanda@gmail.com to assist you further.
great video...Im from Malawi and i would like to buy a used car from SA, trouble am having is really knowing for a fact that the dealers arent selling stolen cars, accident involved etc. How can i come around this?
MacPhery, good question and concern. With the rising incidents happening of car theft in the country, it is quite a concern when purchasing a vehicle to ensure it is not stolen or involved in an accident. Sometimes the cover up is so well done you may not even notice. Firstly make sure you see the roadworthy certificate of the vehicle, secondly if you're not car savvy, get a professional mechanic to go with you when viewing the vehicle to make sure he has a good look for any inconsistencies. Also make sure you go through the cars papers for service history. There are also some websites online that provide a full vehicle report based off the VIN so they'll tell you its accident, theft, repair report, etc.
Dear Anda, I am in a process of buying a used car via big dealership, I would like to know the pros and cons of buying a car on auction- if you could delve on that in your next video
Depends entirely on your financial situation. Sometimes its a good idea, and sometimes it can be a staggering decision. You may choose to save up R200K and buy a car cash, meaning thats money out of your account. or you may save that R200K, take R100K as a deposit and pay the rest through finance... knowing you have R100K left for an unplanned trip to the mechanic or simply just a rainy day fund.
This depends entirely on the type of car your are buying. It is quite difficult to also box the mileage threshold because every car has different history. For example, a 2005 Mercedes C180 with 200 000Kms might seem too high, but if the car has had dealership service from the day it was brought at intervals then it can be considered a 'good' buy, but also remember luxury vehicles come at a higher service expense as compared to other cars. So always check the car's paperwork and find out what the cost of ownership is. You may afford to buy the car, but can you afford to maintain it...
There is no actual difference. Its just a play on words. The only defining difference would be 'certified' pre-owned. These would be vehicles trial and tested used cars that have gone through any necessary tests, repairs, and auto parts replacement making them for 'certifiably' reliable but still a used car.
We dont have any history with a 500x but we do advise to check in with a qualified FIAT mechanic who will give better insight on the car's pros and cons.
It is always suggested to go to a brand approved dealership because they offer better after service and they also perform checks before selling the vehicle. An auction you may only consider if you know you have extra money for anything that may arise as they sell the cars as is, and arent liable for any issues found.
Hey....I would like to know about this second cars which when you need to buy you are told that it's on auction and so you need to pay s certain deposit before even seeing a car? How do we know that they actually exist and that it's not s scam?
In my humble opinion cars are now cheaper cos of covid n the high cost of gas. Ppl r opting to drive compact fuel savers. Smaller cars r slightly expensive cos they r cheaper to maintain
The South African car market has seen a hike in vehicle price after covid. Used vehicles are much more expensive and in alignment to this, new cars are even much higher. True that compact fuel savers are a better preference because of the save.
Hi Anda.. RCZ is priced at R130000..has been on the market for almost 6months now..think its a 2012 model.. What could be the red flags/or advantages on the car..am interested in buying it..what should I look for before I buy
Hi Apa, Biggest red flag is that its a Peugot, an old one too. As with all used cars, make sure you get a full roadworthy report of the car as well as the vehicle service history. That's always a start. Also go view and drive the car with someone who is technically sound to assist with mechanical work. French cars aren't the most reliable, especially the older models. Its a no from me but, if you like the car, then go on it and check your boxes before purchasing. There is a reason why its been on the market for 6 months...
Hello Anda. If I have R400000 and I want to buy a car worth 1.4 million when it's new. Is it better to buy a used car with the cash or pay deposit and go for the new car?
Hello Richard. This is surely a case of personal preference. R400K can get you a really nice car either both used or brand new. The brand new R400K car however may not be as fancy as the R1.4Million but itl save you R1Million. But yet again you may place R400K as a deposit on the R1.4Million and choose to finance the rest. Do visit the dealer and place a finance application with these details to see how much money you can save with the deposit of that amount. You may even rather decide to place R200K as a deposit or towards a balloon payment and have the rest in your account if it doesnt budge your monthly repayments. But surely, a case of personal preference and credit profile.
Thank you so much for the engagement. We have received numerous requests on various topics and will work towards tackling each! Thank you once again.

2) An explanation of how I want to go about the sale,

4) the obligation by the seller to at their own cost provide
4.1) a roadworthy certificate,
4.2) a clearance certificate as to whether microdots are present and if so a detailed description of the relevant data contained on those microdots
4.3) a police clearance certificate,
4.4) a certification from the traffic authorities that licence payments are up to date and
4.5) a certificate from the relevant traffic authorities that there are no outstanding traffic fines and,
4.6) a letter by the bank or finance company stipulating the outstanding balance,
4.7) an affidavit that there are no further fees due to any third parties in respect of the vehicle including a detailed description of those listed above.

This is a business Idea right here, consider offering it as a paid service because it sounds like a lot of hard work to me.

102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also.

Some very good information, thank you.
Hello Anda. Nice video man, very informative. What are your top five used car dealers in SA that you trust?
Hi Anda i have R90,000 and think to get a 2018+Renault Clio4 in December any advice you have regarding the car
Is an older picanto or atos better than a newer Kwid? Asking as a first time buyer with a budget around R150 000
Very insightful
Thank you, much needed advice great informative content

Is Renault Clio 4 a good car for a second hand?
Any car can be considered good. Depends on the history it has and what you are going to be using it for. So always ask to see the service history.

What’s that website
Insightful. 👏🏾
Dear Anda, I am in a process of buying a used car via big dealership, I would like to know the pros and cons of buying a car on auction- if you could delve on that in your next video
Hello Romeo, We have shortlisted this as a topic to discuss. Look out for the episode soon.
What are the disadvantage and advantage of buy a car cash?
Depends entirely on your financial situation. Sometimes its a good idea, and sometimes it can be a staggering decision. You may choose to save up R200K and buy a car cash, meaning thats money out of your account. or you may save that R200K, take R100K as a deposit and pay the rest through finance... knowing you have R100K left for an unplanned trip to the mechanic or simply just a rainy day fund.
Best used sports cars in South Africa n worst on depression cars in South Africa
Mileage wise whats low and what too high ?
This depends entirely on the type of car your are buying. It is quite difficult to also box the mileage threshold because every car has different history. For example, a 2005 Mercedes C180 with 200 000Kms might seem too high, but if the car has had dealership service from the day it was brought at intervals then it can be considered a 'good' buy, but also remember luxury vehicles come at a higher service expense as compared to other cars. So always check the car's paperwork and find out what the cost of ownership is. You may afford to buy the car, but can you afford to maintain it...
What do you check when you buy a car in cash
What’s the difference between pre owned and used?
There is no actual difference. Its just a play on words. The only defining difference would be 'certified' pre-owned. These would be vehicles trial and tested used cars that have gone through any necessary tests, repairs, and auto parts replacement making them for 'certifiably' reliable but still a used car.
Would you advise anyone to buy second 500x fiat ..
We dont have any history with a 500x but we do advise to check in with a qualified FIAT mechanic who will give better insight on the car's pros and cons.
Bro i would like to buy a bmw .. should i go to a bmw dealership or can i buy from an auction?
It is always suggested to go to a brand approved dealership because they offer better after service and they also perform checks before selling the vehicle. An auction you may only consider if you know you have extra money for anything that may arise as they sell the cars as is, and arent liable for any issues found.
Keep your current car maintained don't buy for the foreseeable
@@lexingtonlad5745 Whats your take on Chinese cars? Since they're much cheaper than their counter parts.
@theridewithanda238 I live in Ireland second hand cars are as expensive as new ones plus vrt here is through the roof 🤔
@lexingtonlad5745 Goodness. This has to be a global issue. Here in South Africa it's exactly the same scenario. The 2nd hand market is inflated!

Is it good to buy a german car at higher mileage
Hey....I would like to know about this second cars which when you need to buy you are told that it's on auction and so you need to pay s certain deposit before even seeing a car? How do we know that they actually exist and that it's not s scam?
Its usually a scam, I know someone who fell for it and never got his deposit back. never pay for a car you have not seen.
Don't give over any money without seeing the car!! There are too many scams nowadays.
Great video!!
Thanks Divo!

Thank you so much! Welcome
New sub congrats!
