Excellent explanation on an AMAZING CAMERA. I just got a 501cm MINT and love it. Maybe Next year I’ll get a 503CW, thank you for a nice video here. 👍🏼👍🏼
Hello Jonathan, thank you for this walkthrough. As it happens, I have the 503CW as well. I've noticed with the film back, my focus is spot on; However, when using a digital back on the 503CW, all images are slightly back-focus. I wonder if you can do a test and see if that is the characteristic with all 503CW bodies when they are used with a digital-back. Thanks for the great content as usual.
You may need to get the camera adjusted for use with the digital back. Tolerances with a digital back are tighter than when using film. If you’re in the UK speak to Classic V in Hertfordshire.
@@WorldwideCameraExchange Thank you. I don't live in the UK; but I am planning to take it to a reputable repairman near where I am. I just wanted to be 100% sure before doing so; and from your answer and a previous question I asked in video you posted, now I am certain the camera needs to be calibrated. Thank you!
@@baharam98 Hey! Can you tell me what did it cost to calibrate ? Because I am planing on getting one next week... and how long did it take till u got the camera back ? Greetings
@@muhhaaa1 Hey Muhhaaa1! Unfortunately, I never got around to take the camera to get it calibrated. Reason for that was, I figured since I'm mainly going to use it for film, I should leave it alone and not mess with it (since with the film back, focus is spot on). As for the digital back, I use live view and manual focus; That gets the gob done as far as focus accuracy. Hope you have a good result with your repair. Greetings as well and good luck.
Hi Jonathan, Im trying to decide between Hasselblad 503cw with 645 back and 90 degree prism finder with metering and Mamiya 645 Pro TL With prism and metering. How much would I be losing in optics if anything? I know there is a price difference. Also which do think would be more reliable and easier to get fixed? Thanks
They are very different cameras. You need to go and handle the Hasselblad and the Mamiya, preferably side by side. Once you’ve understood each camera’s strengths and weaknesses it’s all down to personal preference and your individual photographic style.
Because they’re not being produced anymore so as supply goes down, the price goes up, even if the demand is the same. Film is still highly desired among advanced photographers.
I have owned the 503 CXi and now shoot the 503 CW. All these models are just brilliant.

Thanks. Yep, the Hasselblad 501CM is as good as it gets!
I really like you expertise and videos.
Thank you - appreciated
Great cameras. Mine is one of the bright yellow ones in beautiful condition.
Agree 100%!
Thanks so much Johnny!!
Hi Jonathan, wondering if it is possible to do a mirror lockup with the Winder CW attached on a 503CW body. Thanks.
I wouldn’t recommend the winder unless you have a specific need. The camera works best in its simplest form.

should i call you live camera manual? 😂 Thanks Jonathan!
Glad it’s useful!
Does this camera have auto-focus?
No, the 500 series Hasselblad cameras are fully mechanical.
so expensive😂
Yes, very! But Hasselblads are one of the few cameras that’ll last for decades.
@@WorldwideCameraExchangeWhy are film cameras so expensive? And film is already very expensive.

Yes, agree totally. Plenty of demand for Hasselblad with a declining supply.
