Great review. I bought mine in the UK years ago and I love it even though I can’t carry it around. The blade is like a scalpel, the wood and brass handle is sublime, and the sheath wraps around it like a glove. Beautiful knife made in the USA.
@@amadigidigaula771 You can carry them if you have a good reason I think the word of the law is. So if you're out camping or hunting or something like that
Love the 192 vanguard. My son gave me one at Christmas in brass and cobolo wood with s30 steel. One of my all time favorite knives. My jaw dropped to the floor when I opened his present to me. Thanks for showing. Hope you love your 192 as much as I do mine.
That’s fantastic I’ll tell ya I didn’t think it would be this good!!!!! Thanks so much for your awesome comment and the support have a great week be careful out there😊
I absolutely love the Buck Vanguard, that hollow grind is fantastic and cuts like a scalpel. I have one Cabelas Alaskan Guide edition and another one with stag handle ❤
Thanks for the review of the Buck Vanguard Herriage fixed blade knife and sheath. Jersey. One of my sentimental knives. My high school class recently gave this very model to an alma mater, teacher, and principal of nearly 40 years. We celebrated his 75th birthday with this knife and sheath especially engraved for the occasion.
Oh my I wasn’t expecting a comment like that……. That is absolutely a awesome story and for your high school class to gift that to you!!!! What a heck of a story is the blade still in good shape? Even with just storage it gets a little dingy thanks so much for sharing that Byron I appreciate that….. be careful out there stay well buddy 😊
She's a beauty, just love the wood grain and brass along with some cold steel...ooh...ooh...ooh. It really is a great looking knife Pete. Looks like the perfect hunting/camp knife. You inspired me to get a 124 last month after your video. Man is it a chonker, one of my best knives. Picked up a 117 also and I'm looking at a custom 119 with...(you guessed it) Ironwood handles, brass fixtures and cold hard steel. Thanks buddy.
Omg hold on a minute my friend I’m also looking at gettin a custom 119 I’ve been tossing it around that is so cool I can’t wait to see this and the 124 is also one of the best knives I ever bought I’m thinking about gettin another one of them as well custom that would be cool thanks BH I appreciate you buddy be safe catch you soon 😊
I just found a 2014 Buck 192 Alaskan Guide series when I was metal detecting, still was in the sheath in awesome shape for being 3in down in the ground, all I had to do was shine up the brass and I ordered a new sheath it was no good anymore.
Thanks Mike this knife has been around for years and years…… it’s really a great piece and for the money it’s affordable and I think the value is there thanks as always Mike I appreciate you buddy😊
Right on! That is one of the most comfortable handles I’ve ever wrapped my hand around. Love it. You know you are going to need the Alaska Guide Series version now eh! Resistance is Futile! LOL!!
I'm an instant fan of this one Mr.Pete! Absolutely awesome blade bruv! Thanks for sharing this one with us! Cheers, Kimmers and Jerbs #22ADAY I'll never quit quitting
I just broke down and bought one in S30 v steel and love it , came razor sharp , I hit it a few times on the strop and it’s unreal now . I love it , with the only down side being the sheath is right handed , and I’d love an amby .
Hey Pete , how you doing ? Great looking knife and I think you made the right choice over the rubberised one. That wood and brass look ks good and I bet that hollow grind will strop to a razor. Enjoy it! Take care Jersey , A T B Tony.🐴🏴
Awesome comment Tony I appreciate that…….. it had feeling behind it thanks buddy I also think I made the right desion it’s a much better knife than I thought it would be stay well Tony and be safe😊
I have the Alaskan guide edition vanguard. I love this knife. But i wanted to make sure your clear on the wood handle. They are resin impregnated laminated birch wood. Dyed to color. No reason to not love the knife.
Yes it should quickly open that belly up just don’t hit the piss sack but for sure this is much better than I expected 😊thanks J have a fantastic day!!!
The handle you have there is not walnut. It is Buck's Dymalux. Dymalux is thin layers of dyed wood with resin. The color is made to match the color of real walnut. Just so you actually know what you have.
Man that one’s on my radar to pick up I’m going to get the walnut one with the leather sheath That is one sweet knife that you picked up Thanks for sharing it bro
75 bucks at the store in Post Falls ID. I picked a blemished one. The blemish was as just a worn off spot on the spine about 1/8”. I really like the size. Instant hunting knife. The gentleman is right the grind is a bit coarse but Very sharp after i got done honing it.
You think that will take care of a turkey?? It have a beautiful hollow grind on it I’m sharpening it as we speak it’s a good piece thanks Georgia always appreciate you buddy😊
I can't understand why an American knife company would fool their American customers like this. First of all if these rings were made of walnut then they were not made of a tree but a sapling of 5-7 years old or some branch. Secondly the knife shown is not even walnut but synthetic DymondWood. Of course, DymondWood is much better than walnut in all areas. Walnut is good for furniture only for knife handles it is completely unsuitable. It is a very soft wood, easy to carve, very absorbent. Third the steel is very soft probably the worst steel for making knives. You must have the knife in one hand and the sharpener in the other. Buck markets folding knives as hunting knives without any anatomy with a small handle that rotates in the palm, which is very dangerous of course, but it succeeds and sells. Let the buyers think a little about their needs and then buy, unless of course they are couch hunters.
@@marklightner3538 You are absolutely right. I have a buck inherited from my grandfather and it hasn't hurt anything. Of course, it has never left the bedside table. I've seen deer skinning with Opinel, Buck opening and other such crap but it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. I didn't write anywhere that the knife is ugly I just described the knife in a more realistic but true approach. Since you are using it in the camp, be careful depending on what you are using it for. In a section of the handle of your knife you will see that the thin mouse tail runs through the inside of the handle without having any contact with the DymondWood, that is, the metal is "swimming" inside the handle and of course there is no glue at all. The only point of support for the knife handle is the thin vertical pin at the end of the handle. If this build isn't lousy or if you prefer dangerous for a knife then what is? Even the humble and cheap Mora has hard material that hugs the rattail tightly on the inside and foam material on the outside.

@@amadigidigaula771 You can carry them if you have a good reason I think the word of the law is. So if you're out camping or hunting or something like that
Sorry you have to deal with that over there, I heard that even pepper spray is illegal since it's classified as a "firearm"
that is an absolutly gorgeous knife my friend...take care

They make it with the gut hook also
I got the walnut version a couple months ago. Its awesome. My wife claimed it. She carries it on the farm
It's Rosewood
Great looking blade for sure. The handle is made of compressed layers of wood impregnated with resin tho, that’s what give the ringed look
oh she's a pretty fixed my man...great week to ya brother

Great knife great review been lookin at it for a while buying it right now. What oil do u recommend for sheath.
Man that one’s on my radar to pick up
I’m going to get the walnut one with the leather sheath
That is one sweet knife that you picked up Thanks for sharing it bro
Thanks so much Terrill you definitely will not be disappointed……. Thanks so much be careful out here 😊
The handle is not a true wood grain. Each one of those oblong circles is a separate layer of wood (ply) that is laminated using a resin.
The scales are walnut dymalux, which is laminated birch and resin mixed
Awesome knives, bro! Have you seen my recent videos?
No UA-cam always screws up I have it set to all notifications and it still don’t tell me you put a video out I’ll check again thanks buddy 😊
I have the Alaskan Guide version, the plain one, and a Chinese fake on from eBay. Awesome knife have cleaned and butchered quite a few deer with them.
Why people make reviews of knives they didnt use?
How much and where

The pro version is great.
Is it full tang?
I think all Buck fixed knives are full tang.
Bee-U-tee !!
That’s a heavy duty knife
You think that will take care of a turkey?? It have a beautiful hollow grind on it I’m sharpening it as we speak it’s a good piece thanks Georgia always appreciate you buddy😊

Well it just goes and processes deer and works as a camp knife despite your ideas on " shortcomings " if its so crappy why does it work o well?
