I had the Buck 120 years ago, I wish I still had it. I plan to get the 124. I've had the 112 lock back, it's a good knife. I bought the 110 for my dad when I was about 8 years old, he always carried it hunting season. It field dressed a lot of deer and elk as well as upland game birds and waterfowl. My dad is no longer with us, but every time I look at that knife it brings back good memories.

Buck was my Dad’s favorite knives. Dad had a 110 folder when I was a teenager (1975 or thereabouts) and he was particularly proud of the razor edge he maintained on that knife. One day Dad was out of the house and I needed to cut something so I helped myself to his knife. I gapped up the blade pretty bad and had to confess when Dad got home. He didn’t say anything but he did make it clear that his 110 was off limits. Dad sharpened that blade back to it’s former glory and kept it tucked away after the gapping. A few years later I joined the Navy and Dad gave me that knife before I got on the plane. It meant a lot to me and it still does. Dad also taught me how to fillet fish with a Buck 105 with a red handle. Buck, to me, is much more than just a knife. There’s so many knife makers now that make exceptional blades but if I had to get rid of my knives for some reason my Buck knives would stay with me. God bless my Dad and may he rest in peace.

The Vanguard has been my favorite knife for hunting for 20 years. Always easy to keep sharp. And I love Buck's statement of purpose. My EDC is a Buck 285 Bantam. Made in the USA and won't break the bank if you lose it.

One buck I think you would have loved was the buck reaper. 7 inch recurve blade, hollow ground, full tang and super light. And they had them at Walmart of all places. They don’t make them anymore unfortunately but dang what an awesome little combat knife it was. I really should have bought two.

I own both of these. My 124 has the wood handle. I bought it in 1988 when I was 21 and I've bashed the crap out of it over the years. It's stood up and never failed me, no chips and the sheath has held up well. As for my favorite Buck folder, the Quickfire is it. I'm flipping the hell out of that every day since I've owned it. The spring is top notch and also made in the USA.

My cousin gave me a Buck 124 for Christmas one year. I thought, “Wow my cousin must really like me.” Every once in a while I would get a project that required heavy duty cutting, slicing, hacking, prying. I would drive across town, and go get my Buck 124, it never let me down. It’s a very special knife, and I reserve it for all the impossible tasks, then I hide it away again.

I have the entire collection of knives from 101 to 124. My favorites are the 119 and 117 Brahma with leather grips and the spear point ground combat. It took me quite a few years of searching to find them all. I have one more to collect which is the original survival knife they made years ago with the hollow handle that I sold to a friend of mine and he still has it. Back in the 1980s when I did my first camping trip from Canada through the states down to Mexico I took a 124 and a Swiss Army champ with me along with a 24 inch estwing steel axe.

Beautiful choices. I have a many knives in my collection. The only Buck knife I own is a 692. I found it on a deal from a knife dealer at an antique show. It has become my daily carry though because of its practicality. It has a smart sheath and it is just a trusty blade man.
I will probably add another fixed blade from Buck to my collection.

Great video! My first big bladed knife was the Buck 120. I remember it was the "first" thing I bought when I turned 18 MANY moons ago. Just got another about 3 months ago cause they're not easy to find these days (thank you SCREAM movies!!!) but throughout the years, I've always had a 119 with me. It's never failed me throughout the decades! Buck makes a good knife, period! They'll always be popular AND iconic!!! Again Daniel, great video!!!

My favourite would be the Buck 102 Woodsman. I have several. I take them camping. I use them in the kitchen. My second favourite would be the 105 Pathfinder. It’s similar to the 102, but a little longer. I know some people look down on Buck. But their knives in 420HC are great and deserve all the love. And the fact that Buck has a lifetime warranty on their knives at those price points is just icing on the cake.

I have 3 Buck 119 knives. The 124 that I have has a beautiful wood handle not the Phenolic material. My 124 just glows, I have had it for decades. It sits in one of my display cases. Never been used. I really like that the 124 has such a substantial handle. The 120 is also a super blade just a little longer than the 119.
The most unusual Buck fixed blade in my collection. Is my Buck M-9 Phrobis 3 Bayonet/Survival Knife. Made for the US Military up to about 1997 or so then they lost the contract. They had to ask for more money as materials and labor had increased. The Military said no and they got another company to make the M-9. I think that company was Lankay. But my M-9 has never been used, it has an unused sheath and I have the box it came in.
My favorite Buck folder is of course the Buck 110. I have half a dozen of these knives. I carried a 110 for years out in the field doing Electrical work. It was an incredible tool. Used it a lot for removing the insulation off cable.
Truly some fine classic knives. I have quite a few other Buck models but these you looked at in the video are my favorites for sure.

Love my Buck's! The 110 folding hunter is a must-have, as well as the 119 featured here. I also have the 120, but I had a custom kydex sheath made for it because I actually hate the backwards snap retainer on their leather sheaths. I hockey taped the back 1/2 of the slick grip on my 120 too. Another great Buck fixed blade is the ground combat knife. Mine is the spearpoint in coyote with micarta scales.

I recently bought the 685 large bucklite (4” blade, hidden full tang, over molded handle, nylon sheath). This knife is nothing to write home about in the looks department, but I’m beginning to really appreciate these types of knives. These are not dress up knives, they are straight up field knives. They cut very well, and are extremely easy to maintain. I enjoy using and appreciate my buck 685 more than my Tops silent hero 4 (I paid $30 for the buck and $130 for the Tops). They have roughly the same blade shape, same weight, and same blade thickness. The buck has a finer edge, while the Tops has nicer materials overall. If you collect cool knives there will be nothing to stop you from the Tops silent hero 4 (really like the knife), if you don’t care how it looks and want something slightly easier to maintain in the same blade shape the buck 685 large bucklite can’t be beat, it is a very good alternative (probably even better in actual use).
The 119 is an awesome looking blade, and so is the 124.
I get rid of knives every so often to keep them from piling up at home, I maybe have 8 buck knives and have only ever given one away. They are some of the less expensive knives I own but some of the most useful, and there is a bit of relief knowing that the heat treatment and blade geometry are on point.
420hc doesn’t sound like a good option compared to what is available, but it is a tuff steel and a great option in a user especially from buck.
I have yet to find the “perfect knife” or the “perfect steel”, a knife needs to do one thing… cut, and I need to be able to make it cut more when the blade looses its edge. There is less of a gamble when buying a buck knife in my experience, it will cut (extremely well) and be super easy to hone.

Some call the buck knives your grandfathers knives
Which sounds right seeing how I am 68.
I have been carrying knives since I was 8 years old.
I have camped hiked and worked with buck knives.
I have been studying and practicing knfe fighting for a half century and to this day.
I have used and carried many , many
knives from different makers from cheap to expensive customs.

Dang. I have not carried a Buck since I was a wee lad of 10, with my classic 110... 10 with a 110 .. good times. Did you consider getting the S35vn versions? I would doubt Wally-World carries the upgraded versions... how do people argue over what a full tang blade is? Doesn't seem like much to argue. The 124 is badass, no two ways about it. Seems like it would be quite functional; besides being a good looker, it appears you could rock and roll when needed. I have been thinking about getting another 110, get some of those pre-teen nostalgia vibes... Anyway, to everyone out here, have a marvelous day. And thanks for the cool video.

Buck Knives are awesome. American made and their designs have stood the test of time. For fixed blades you need to take a look at the 102 Woodsman. It is like a smaller 119 but very edc friendly, a great hunting/woods knife. Buck folders the classic 110 hunter & 112 Ranger. Interesting story about how the 112 came to be. The story tells of an altercation between two sailors on the USS Ranger which became very serious. One of the sailors was inflicted with a deep stab wound, supposedly from a Buck 110. Due to the severity of the wound, the USS Ranger commander banned all knives with a blade exceeding 3” from use on the ship. Another awesome review brother of some iconic American Cutlery. TwoBlafes way up!

"A blade is a blade, a blade can work and a blade can fight", I'm gonna steal that quote, it sums up the whole philosophy of knives since humans started making them. After your own hands, it's the first, best, most primary tool humans have ever possessed. And it's symbolic of freedom. Only free men can carry knives.

I've always liked the classic 110 & and 112, but in todays world, they're not the easiest to carry and deploy quickly. I've been looking at the 113 fixed blade lately and can't decide. I need a good fixed blade to carry daily (so not too big). I looked at the 863 Selkirk but learned they're china made. With all the cold steel, spiderco, mora, sog options, it's hard, but I like classic style. Great video and my search continues.

Favorite folder. 110 auto. Daily carry. 119 75th in a punku sheath. The heavy handle wanted to tip out if you were not snapped. I almost lost it twice. A true miracle finding it. The eBay full sheath makes it hang lower and is way more comfy. Hasn’t fallen out and I ware it every day for six years. I carried a 110 my whole adult life but the fixed is much more convenient. I have gotten maybe five comments from naysayers. I am a half breed at 6”5” 250#s with a huge surgical scar on my face, most folks keep their shitty opinions to themselves.

There are some models they don't make anymore that are fantastic designs.
Some I wish they would bring back at some point, would be...
    *Buck 070 - Thug
    *Buck 808 - Talon
    *Buck 620 - Reaper
    *Buck 060 - Hoodlum
*Buck 891 - Ground Combat Knife

I am in the same boat as you sir. I can decide between the 120 general or the 124 frontiersman.

I like 110 folder classic and 110 slim; I have the 110 slim in my pocket. I’ve had my eyes on the 119 for years now, next in line though is the Gerber strong arm.

My favorite is the 105 pathfinder. Second place would have to go to the woodsman aka the 102. As far as folders, the 110 and the 722 spitfire are my preferred edc.

I used to have a 110 folder but I can't remember what happened to it but if I was going to buy one of their fixed blades it would probably be the 120.

Buck GCK looks amazing, both the tanto and spear point variants. It's one of those combat knives you would imagine carrying in a shit hit the fan scenario.

Buck Knighthawk or is Nighthawk , an excellent fighting pattern . Came with a cheap sheath . Had a customer, Federal Law Enforcement , bought one same time that I got mine . Made leather sheaths for both . It had a thumb indenture for proper thumb placement , reminded me of the Patton Saber . If they still make it I would like to buy another . Here you when talking about walking by the knife counter and that 119 says "take me home !" 😳

The Buck 110 is my favorite to use, with the Vanguard a close second. The KALINGA is a Buck knife I have always desired their most beautiful knife to me.. One day.

Not a Buck ……..but I highly recommend The Cold Steel Bushman, very cost effective….I had mine for close to thirty years, has never let me down, and I mean never.

I've been using the 124 for over 40+ years (same knife) I found the grip to be too thick and thinned it down almost to thickness of the guard and wrapped it with a tennis wrap for a cushioned grip .

I have skinned a few deer with the 119, back in the late 80's and early 90's. And its just a tad too long for good control. It was my go to skinning knife until, I got my Buck Kalainga, which is no longer made. I've also used the Buck Personal, its a smaller blade with a nice curve. Very easy to use, and good control, but it is also no longer made. I think the 117 would be a better skinning blade, since it is shorter.

The way I see it the buck 124 is too overpriced for what you get. For that price I honestly expect a better steel. You can get an Esee 6 in 1095, and Esee 4 in s35vn, or a Fallkniven S1 Forest in VG10 for less. 420hc is good, but not $180+ good. It's great for their skinners or pocket knives, but honestly I think it's kinda insulting Buck wants to charge that much for that thing. The damn thing costs $250 for a custom one without customizing it. Add on different woods and such and it just goes up insanely. I hope they will release this knife with better steels in the future. A good s35vn or V3 would be awesome to see, but I fear how much they will charge for it. $200-$250 is how much it should probably cost if it used s35vn to begin with. I fear what they would maybe charge for an M390 steel blade or a 3v blade. But we'll have to wait and see. Maybe they'll surprise me and catch my interest. Hell just release a version in 1095 for the same price it currently is and I might even consider it. That's my take at least. Buck is a good company and I'm willing to see what they bring to the table.
