It's sad what Hamas is doing to its own brothers, its children, its grandchildren, its women, its mothers. It's horrifying and sad to place missiles in a child's room, under babies, under schools, bombs, to send children as young as 5 to Hamas training camps, to massacre 1500 people, to kidnap 400 Israelis including Arabs as well, to kidnap a baby not even a year old, to snatch him from his mother, to commit atrocities to women on October 7th and also to the captives, to torture for over 6 months. Instead of returning the captives, they claim that the prisoners who committed attacks in Israel against Israelis are also captives, which is delusional. It's sad that they push their children towards IDF soldiers even though the IDF asked to evacuate and waited for weeks. It's madness and terribly sad.
Is that the Palestinian civilians who voted for and support Hamas?

The polls show that 70% of the Gaza population as a whole supports Hamas. So, I will go with 70%. Since Hamas refuses to wear uniforms, you have to assume 100% . You have no idea which person is wearing a suici%e vest. They were all taught to hate Jews growing up and the fake maps showing a fictious place called Palestine that encompasses Gaza and Israel. Stupid just cannot be fixed.

He supported those protests, and supports the protest on university campuses. What he is saying is that if and when protests become violent, they lose credibility. Protests MUST be peaceful. Some of the Vietnam protests did become violent and therefore lost credibility which didn't help the Vietnamese.

We did have a discussion about university complicity in ISrael's crimes except it was in 2013-2015 around the time that Israel was bombarding Gaza last. Several University of California campuses passed divestment measures but then they were challenged inside the UC Regents system and ultimately we are back doing it again. We need to learn what went wrong last time so that we don't repeat the same mistakes.

I think we are forgetting that the historical moment for a reaction that was predictable given the humanitarian catastrophe that is being fueled right now by the genocidal actions of the occupier gradually and following the Israeli armed incursion (reference: ICJ and the UN), and we need to continue waiting? Wait for more evidences of a genocide and other international violations to develop. Mr Christof, by contrast, summarized violations of international norms and the legal framework tha have been signed and ratified by the majority of the countries singed at preventing further crimes from being committed. The latter demonstrates the need to stop the violations now.

College students demands and $5 will maybe get you a cup of coffee...imagine if I took over my company building and demanded they change how they run their business? So what happens if next week, students sympathetic to Israel take over the campus and demand that they invest in Israel? Students have a choice, leave if you don't like the universities policies or honor your contractual agreement for admission, get your education and then go find a way to make the world a better place.

Objectively the protests are overwhelmingly peaceful. The only ones that have become violent are when the cops have started violence. The shareholders of these universities are not interested in losing money to make a political statement. I cannot imagine a university having enough cash revenue to invest in an arms dealer to Israel. Even if the protestors could get colleges to divest in arms suppliers, the suppliers would just increase the cost per bomb. 1ea. 1000kg bomb = $25,000 USD. As of April 2024, the United States has given Israel around $300 billion in total economic and military aid. The University investments are just a drop in the buck and are meaningless.

The world is a much smaller place than it was during Vietnam. We watched the news for 30 minutes each night, heard the number of casualties and deaths, and saw very little footage. Now we can see the bombs go off in real time, hear the people screaming over their dead loved ones, see funerals getting blown up, read first person accounts of people trying to survive in a war zone, hear about the resulting famine, listen to our government bs about what is actually happening. Many of us believe something very important about all this: that every injured/deceased person is a human just like you and me. That they are someone's family member, and they were loved. That we do not have to use weapons to solve problems, we can use words. No more war.
I wonder if the 4 billion dollars donated by Qatar to american universities in the last ten years have anything to do with this.

Hamas was founded in 1987 by Ahmad Yassin. Palestinian civilians have been jailed, tortured and murdered by Hamas from its beginning. Netanyahu knows this. Bombing civilians has nothing to do with making Hamas accountable..
