Yeah. Either you have a turbo, or you drive an atmosphere. The engine is completely fine and arguably even better under load than under low RPM. (Yes, this is a hybrid, but the gasoline part is an atmospheric engine in Atkinson cycle.)
Because the engine has no character for starters, unlike boxer engines. As for the high revs, I had an Outback, I could make rapid progress without the revs going anywhere near the red line. Some people dont know how to drive CVT cars properly, or simply fail to understand how they are best used. Flooring them is the totally wrong way. Start off moderately, let the revs drop again before pressing on further. Maintain that and then you don’t hear the engine scream. Wow, people need to learn.

CVT's affects directly proportional to the engine cycle life, because hold high rpm when accelerate and the engine need to repose in order to gains power at lower rpms. In other words when car starts rolling torque delivered to wheels is more but as car moves more fast, the power increases and torque decrease. This is the objective to make gear ratios but cvt doesn't have gears, instead of that, it has variable polleys with a belt to transfer energy to the wheels. That system loses much energy than gears trains system. And forces the engine to carry up maximum rpm at all speed ranges.
WTF are you doing to that poor hybrid? If you drive like that then this car is not for you... Going to full speed and riding like that will damage the battery

Не кпп а херня полная. Обороты стоят и нет переключений а скорость растёт . Сцеплению конец. Крутит на любой скорости 5000

Toyota is a very good brand but their system and their cvt box ruin their car quite a bit...
