I have priua Gen 2.. bought it from a friend with 50k km, not it has over 350k km on original battery and engine...what i have always been doing with it is .. i have installed after market android head unit(radio) and installed hybrid assist app to control battery temperature not to exceed35°c.. so with this app i have set it that anytime i turn on the car the installed app in the head unit will connect with Bluetooth obd2 device which is always connected via obd2 port. So this app keep regulating the battery temperature proactively by making sure the temperature is not exceeding the set limit. Therefore because of that my battey has been always healthy..ie it still has low voltage difference between cells (0.03v to 0.05v), at has 0.00% delta SOC...the internal resistance of battery modules are still low which indicates that the battery is less suffering from thermo stress. What does the manual say for the oil? as it usually has a range listed like: 0W-16 0w-20 5W30, I would consider the first two for best fuel economy, the last for engine longevity especially in hotter climates.
@@noname-yb5jt Yes I have seen that in a manual for a RAV4 but the manual also has a list of approved oil weights. Then you have service agents in countries that have fixed price services that don't use what's on the oil cap (0w-16) and ignore that statement in the manual and instead use typically the cheapest out of the 3 recommended like the 5w-30 and off course not fully synthetic as that adds to there fixed price cost. Their engines typically have a 7 year warranty and using any of the recommend oil in the list doesn't invalidate the warranty or make the engine fail sooner. Just slightly less fuel economy and in harsher environments/usage conditions a 5w-30 oil will provide better engine protection than 0w-16.
@@noname-yb5jt As said read the manual as you will likely see a range of 3 oil weights listed. Saying 5w-30 is too thick and could starve the engine is ridiculous. Cold climates subject to freezing temps go for the lower weight, hotter climates that summer temps with roads over 40c and car under load can see that 0W-16 & 0W-20 oil failing to protect the engine. The first two are designed for best Fuel Economy/Efficiency, I pick engine longevity every time unless of course you intend to churn your car every few years and make it somebody else's problem.
@cam_934 Go start your Corolla Hybrid in -30 degrees with 5w30 and let me know how it turns out. The manual states 0w16. 0w20 may be used but 0w-16 must be used at the next oil change.
Is it necessary to have the idle set so high? I do think Hybrids may be the real future. I had a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid, got great mileage, loved the car, but moved out of the country and my family did not start the car for a year. Killed the battery ((((
A lot of these newer cars do that, my Subaru when I first start it up stays at 1900 Rpms until the blue temp light goes out normally. they say it lowers the emmisons to have the cat converter up to temp quick. It makes me cringe every time when I start it first time. Once its warm it starts normally.

The honda might be better according to quality in terms of internrior buildquality.. but the corolla has more experience in terms of hybridsystem.. toyota is improving since 1997 on its hybrid system.. so it might be more interesting even with that one gear transmission 😅. But i wished i could afford to buy a lexus isf.. would be much more fun 😃
Are you sure those dont push in? On my hood. I have the kind that is abled to be pushed in and taken out easily without using a screwdriver to pry the center out
Is it 1.8 or 2.0 engin ?
1.8 engine
Toyota life spans are 2nd to nobody, how ever time can still destroy things with out use ,, but seeing a corolla with 481,000 miles not kms, is truly why you buy Toyota vehicles the just give more
What does the manual say for the oil? as it usually has a range listed like: 0W-16 0w-20 5W30, I would consider the first two for best fuel economy, the last for engine longevity especially in hotter climates.
It says 0w-20 may be used but 0w-16 should be used at the next oil change.
@cam_934 Oil weights are specified for the engine design. The oil passages are small and using too thick oil could starve the engine.
Do / did you run it on the 10% ethanol gas
So what do you need to pay say once a year ???
mpg? 42?
Does this Corolla hybrid have the original hybrid battery?
It’s a 2020 Corolla hybrid
You drove 700 miles a day for work! That means you were on the road 12 hours a day!?
I've heard MANY Toyota Hybrids make it to 400,000 IF properly MAINTAINTED.
Nice videos, do have any accounting in one place of the non standard repairs you performed over the life of the car?
Toyota is so far better than chinese EV
These cars have regenerative braking which charges your batteries sitting in idling doesn't charge your car.
No if they need charge charge on idle its seen in videom
CHECK TYRE PRESSURE
Do you ever get a cold start rattle noise?
I own a 24 Corolla Hybrid SE awd and if my car has been sitting for a long time like a week plus it sometimes makes a loud rattling noise on first starts.
Change Eg mounts.
@@下田洋介-w4z
It's this year's car...no way should engine mounts have worn out.
Or are you saying there is a problem with them that is known?
If so warranty work needs to be done.....
@@livinthedublife
Report the problem to the dealer and suggest the dealer change the oil filter to a new correct one....the one installed may have a bad anti drain back valve....
If this doesn't correct the problem you need to get this documented in writing by the dealer and you retain a copy of the service writer's notes to the mechanic to deal with the problem.
Get them to look at the car.....leave it with them for a week???? so they can experience the rattle?
Ratling noise is caused by wet spark plugs. Engine does not run on all cylinders. Wet spark plugs are caused by starting the engine and turning it off within a minute.
Where u b driving brdda yikes, crazy milage

Is that a Japanese model or a USA model ? Check the vin ..
Built in Japan
is that the 1.8?
Yes
@@htimmermans1938 oh ok i wonder if anyone know any similar result from the newer engine

is that electric water pump for cooling the batteries ?
Nope. The hybrid battery is air cooled with the fan he showed under the rear bench.
The electric water pump he showed is for the engine coolant circuit which also heats the cabin. There is a second coolant circuit which cools the inverter (basically converting the high voltage to go to the electric motors or the HV battery).
How a 2020 Corolla have this kind of mileage. Did you go to the moon and back? Many cars won't be able to make it at 481000 miles that's 770000 km. Take care.
How tf you do so many miles on a so new car

@@Michaellrhodes amazing, my 2013 fiesta has 40k miles on it 😆

how old is the car man
It’s a 2020
On this model, Toyota put even 2 air filters on the battery fan. On the previous one (called Auris in Europe, MY13), none at all. Tell me that you are an idiot without telling me that you are an idiot.
Cool. Thanks
I think that I heard that these aren’t the same types of batteries used in EV’s. 🤷🏻
Getting that many miles though. 👍🏻👍🏻
The battery is always kept between 40 and 70 percent.
DYI brother the filter is the thin filter that you have it can be reusable by cleaning it off with compress air. or a small vacuum that will remove the dirt and lint my hybrid gets vacuum cleaned every 4 to six months and it looks like new.481,000 is expressive yes 5,000 miles oil change there will be no problems. the dealership tells me that the oil change should be 10,000 not for me, look at bmw 15,000 or vvw with 20,000 next time read the bottle of 0w- 16 some of these engines have blown up BMW and vw...mmm
Well hybrid cars will last longer than a conventional gas only powered car as long as the hybrid system is also reliable.
Cost to maintain is the same as any other car my guy. Who you pay for labor is what changes.
Nah brother, some brand's labor is inherently more expensive 1:50 . Who can work on your vehicle is part of the cost to maintain.
@@crisgon9552Don't you have an off brand workshop? after the warranty time it doesn't matter for a simple oil change.
@martin5697 I do my own oil changes but if I don't I go to 2nd market. Dealerships are expensive and I don't trust them
hairy dog would clog that filter easily
I got a dog which sheds hard + 1.8 corolla and what youre saying is not true.
Look into the Valvoline Restore and Protect, lots of good reviews on that stuff. Especially for a car with high millage.
The guy has 481,000 miles on whatever he’s using now (seems like Mobil 1 ). You’re advising he change oils now? I don’t think so!
@ Have you done your research on that Valvoline oil? It’s the perfect oil for high mileage vehicles. Cleans out all that bad stuff and helps the vehicle run better.
is that a CTV transmission ?
It's an e-CVT. It has no unreliable belts and pulleys.
No, eCVT. BUT, the gasoline only TOYOTA CVT has been extremely reliable, and has been used on the Corolla since 2014 model year.
Regular non hybrid does have CVT but it has a 1st gear clutch, which makes it more reliable
I got 500000 miles on my 2003 Corolla ce
Mines just hit 20k miles 😂
My 2020 bought may 2020 just hit 20k miles also lol.
put a little grease around that green ground strap
great car I had one just not fun to drive, you have cells going bad at that many miles wow. if you want to clean the values put lead in the fuel, car will go another 100k.
I dare you to do 1 million miles!!
this would actually challenge those old lexus's people told were indestructible.
a lot of people doubt modern toyota's quality as well, this if anything is just a proof they are almost as good!
It can go million miles easily. I've seen 900k plus on 2012 Camry hybrid taxi in Chicago
it be nice to know the year of that car
Ok it’s a Hybrid …… Did I miss if it’s a 'non plug-in' or plug in, I need to know ??
it's not plug in
@ Thanks👍
This is the hybrid? I thought Hybrid has ORANGE CABLES AROUND THE ENGINE.
Yes, it’s there. Just can’t see it.
You may get free new car toyota 😅😅
almost half a mil, i cant wait to see it at over 900k miles
Do they Rob you for the filter?
What about letting a ev car sit for 6 months while you are in a coma. Batteries will degrade yes?
Battery should not charge more than 80% normally.
wow in america the oil cost notghing compared to italy same oil we pay it 140 euros, and considering that the medium payment check is 1200 1400 for month is much more difficult to buy oil cars and everythings, but the way always did the maintenance in toyota dealer and at 157 kkm they only changed ones the sparkle at 90 thousand km and never trasmission fluid and nop coolant fluid considering that 157 thousand kilometers are like 80 thousand miles. but the way is the cheaper car to maintein especially if compared with the maintenance of other brand in the dealership brand
What oil costs 140 Euros in Italy? I live in Hungary and a full oil change on my car with 4L Toyota 5w-30 and Filter is 50 Euro 🤔
@@ezustnyil8414 at the dealership yes and if you don't complain they add gasoline additive and let you pay 30 euros and easyly gon apay 180 190 for oil and filter at the toyota dealership. now i have an alfaromeo stelvio and i pay 250 only for oil and filter and not talking about mercedes and wv crazyness they are more way expensive.
