Keto brought my blood sugar down and all my test results have been great for the past year and a half. My blood sugar typical runs 90 - 110. I recently, like a week and half ago, added in intermittent fasting. I was doing 16 hours of fasting but watched your video on keto over 50 and since I will be 59 this week I switched to 14 hours of fasting. But, some amazing things are happening now. I used to have the "twilight" effect where my blood sugar would go up when I slept so when I checked it in the mornings it would be as high as 140+! Now I check my blood sugar every morning about 1 hour after I get up and it is running 80 - 89!! Which is amazing to me, no more twilight effect!! I have been doing keto for 3 years, lost 70 pounds, but, started gaining the weight back, so, I've been doing more research and started charting again to keep track of my macros (it just works best for me that way). I haven't lost any weight from adding in the intermittent fasting yet, but, it is making a difference in my blood sugar and that is awesome. I thought I would feel shaky and have hypoglycemic symptoms, but, I do not. I am learning so much from your videos! Thank you so much for making your videos. They really help me a lot.

Thomas. Love to see you do a piece on fasting with diabetes and what is a good post workout meal for a type 2 diabetic. Especially for those of us who are EXTREMELY sensitive to carbs
I have hyperinsulinemia that causes me to have hypoglycemic episodes. My doctor ordered blood tests and says I'm not diabetic but confirmed I have high insulin. I had an MRI and he says it's normal except for a very small lipoma or fat on the tip of my pancreas which he says it's not of concern. Other than that, he is not helping me figure out what's going on and how to fix it. I'm having to figure it out myself pretty much. I developed these symptoms in mid to late 2015. I have not consumed ginger in 3 years since the last time I had it, it made my blood sugar drop very low. I tried the keto diet last year for 2 weeks before I ended up in the ER from severe low blood sugar. It was confirmed I was in ketosis but that doctor said I need carbs. I've recently started intermitent fasting again a week ago starting at 12:12 and the last few days I've been able to fast 14 hours from after dinner the night before to lunch the next day. I was scared to have severe symptoms from not eating anything. I've been trying out the mediterranean way of eating as well since keto did not work for me. I feel good so far especially while fasting and my insulin staying low. But when I eat after fasting, I feel hypoglycemic within 10 or 15 minutes if I dont have carbs such as bread, pasta etc or atleast fruit or honey or something with my meals. It's like this every time I eat. I wish I could do low carb so I can lose some weight but I cant because of whatever issue is going on. How does someone like me lose weight with this type of problem? P.S. I work as a nurses aid, so 4 days of the week i am walking long halls and room to room for 8 hrs. I plan to start trying resistance workout. But any hard workout like cardio etc makes my blood sugar feel low. Help!
It seems I am late to the game, have been diagnosed with type 2 and had been put on Metformin, Insulin, and Ozempic. Having watched what I am eating and now am on only metformin, but now its becoming a battle. And have been getting super tired during the day. I will implement these steps today! Thank you for this info!
I started keto from ur video on do ‘keto with me challenge’ back in September. I didn’t understand IF at that time and would do fasting the way we do during ramadan. And it’s so interesting how you just mentioned that way of fasting here. ☺️
Thomas DeLauer It’s amazing and it is easier for me than to do IF. Love your videos. You got me started on keto and it’s the best decision I have ever made, not just for weight loss, but for overall health.
I am a Thomas DeLauer regular. I eat in a four or five hour window (depending on my willpower that day). I use ketosis to the greatest extent possible. I do daily of cardio and too much resistance training. But the smallest amount of carbs (fried sweet potatoes on Christmas Day) puts me in a coma for hours. I have literally been insulin resistant since I was a kid. Even going months at a time without processed carbs, and the smallest amount of carbs rock’s me. I think I have to be carb free until death.
I recommend doing chores around the house on the weekend and trying fasting then. I'll have a protein bar and a glass of milk all weekend and it feels amazing. Just accidentally and compared to 3,500 calories a day it was significant
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. Info I get from your channel changed my life! No sugar, fasting, and good sleep hygiene has transformed my health... cholesterol dropped from to 172 down from almost 200 eating keto with IF. All my numbers improved! You’re a rock star with all the science you share. I appreciate all the work you do as a keto evangelist. :-) many thanks.
Not sure the cholesterol numbers drop is such a good thing. But it might depend on your individual physiology. Many/most on Keto see a rise in total cholesterol numbers as well as LDL while seeing improvement in Triglycerides and HDL. With the latter being the most important numbers. But the higher cholesterol are known to be good/okay while doing proper keto.
fanclass0f76 thanks for the insights. My LDL/HDL ratio is at a 1.9, LDL is 106, HDL 56 and triglycerides are at a 66. Silly me, I assumed these were good numbers especially since I’m 50-something. 🙃 I will continue doing further research to see where and how I can improve. I was so excited there was a change, but I guess I should move forward with less excitement and more education. Thanks again, your comment sparked me into action. 👍
Sorry, it sent too fast 😑. Thank you so much for all you do. I'm healthier and know how to heal so much in my body, thanks to your videos. Thank you Sir🙏
I’m insulin resistant and it got frustrating and I’m in my thirties . Ramadan makes my symptoms disappear every year and that’s how I figured out that food was the sickness. After ramadan I fast differently, I get my coffee and that triggers my IR so I think it’s better to fast the whole time Islamic fasting no fluids no meals nothing 🙂 From down to sunset . We’ll see if this fixes this condition
great videos thomas! my wife and i tried the bone broth today we watch your videos 24/7 were just working on getting the Kindle and fire, we had quit here and there , looking to lose this bad eating lifestyle for good! looking up to you sir! keep up the good work!

Thomas, really appreciate your video on improving insulin resistance.. Im dealing with PCOS and Im trying to bulk. Carbs are not helping with insulin and I dont know what I should eat to bulk replacing carbs? thanks for your help.
Yes but how are we gaining weight through stress if were not eating anything? That's like saying stressing out from a workout will make you gain weight.
I don't understand, i have been prediabetic for yrs but recently i have had incidents of hypothermia, if i dont eat at least every 4 hours. No i have not been eating correctly. I have been thinking of going keto, but I'm afraid let alone fasting.
Thomas Delauer, I have a question about healing muscle insulin resistant specifically. I have not been able to see anyone like your or Dr. Berg talking about this. I know all the organs and cells of your body become insulin resistant at different levels. I was generally insulin resistant for probably over 10 years with increasing symptoms of metabolic syndrome. After over a year of the keto/IF lifestyle, I have reversed all my bad labs with my HDL increasing and triglycerides low/normal. I am 50 so have the added complication of perimenopause but my weight has stalled even with IF, Keto, weight training, and once a month of 3 day fasting. I also make sure to get my 100 grams of protein in when I'm not fasting. I know it takes a while to heal insulin resistance. I know I may have to do more 3-5 day fasts each month and of course do more cardio and get to another level in my weight training. I still can't see my muscles through my fat yet and know I have to stay the course and keep increasing everything...but was wondering if it is hard to reverse muscle resistant especially if you are mid age and have had insulin resistance for a decade. I know all can be reversed but does it take some organs, cells a little longer to reverse it? I heard from Megan Ramaz/Dr. Fung that maybe for someone older it could take a 5 or 7 day fast to really activate weight loss and autophagy and probably healing insulin resistance.
Do you have a video on the impact of fasting for diabetics? For some reason, I feel worse after I fast, my glucose levels are worse after coming out from the fast. What can you do to avoid that and not making diabetics condition worse with fasting.
I've been doing the one meal a day with healthy fats and a green vegetable with it that's keto friendly for about 9 days and I have a lot more energy. Also its amazing how what you eat affects the mind. Mentally I feel great! Eat to live dont live to eat!
Love the videos. I live for this stuff. 3 sizes down 2 to go. Thanks for the motivation. I started IF last year. I love it. I can’t even imagine life without it. I never snack
Hey Thomas, I've been experiencing acid reflux lately because of fasting, and because of that I've not been able to fast for longer hours. Do you have any tips and tricks on how to control this? I love your content btw! Much love and peace!♥️🙏
Try apple cider vinegar it will balance ur ph levels which affects the valve that allows acid to reach ur throat it also wont diminish ur fasting it will be enhanced.
Flax is what women who've entered menopause need. And, some women enter it "overnight". One missed period can mean menopause, and that just happened to me. It would be nice if you presented more info on women doing low carb/keto and IF, and included our different needs compared to men. TIA.
@@lifeisgood070 The typical age is between 48 to 52. There's perimenopause, then menopause. Twelve consecutive months without a period means menopause. During perimenopause, your wife can get pregnant; because she's still menstruating, even though it's irregular.
Extremley Helpful video , could you please explain to me something ? , fasting for me is super easy for me even for 24 hours , but in the last 2 hours i get this extreme craving for sugar , and each time i have tried doing omad even with keto i get so much craving to sugar , i always fail with everything in the last hour for the day , i don't know what happens to me , btw can't afford keto treats and alternatives , here where i live in lebanon we have an economic crises , beef grain fed costs 20$ @ 250grams , any advice ? i am prediabetic and i fail with dieting each day espicially in the last hours of the day when fasting

I recommend doing chores around the house on the weekend and trying fasting then. I'll have a protein bar and a glass of milk all weekend and it feels amazing. Just accidentally and compared to 3,500 calories a day it was significant
thank you
High quality and doable information. Thanks. 🇿🇦😎🙏
Thank you so much. So much great info ❤❤
Thank you for this
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge.
Right on Vivian, you’re awesome! You’re welcome. I’m happy that the information has made a difference in your life! Thanks for watching!
fanclass0f76 thanks for the insights. 👍
Thank you very much t
Sorry, it sent too fast 😑. Thank you so much for all you do. I'm healthier and know how to heal so much in my body, thanks to your videos. Thank you Sir🙏
Very good presentation. Thank you!
I’m insulin resistant and it got frustrating and I’m in my thirties .
Ramadan makes my symptoms disappear every year and that’s how I figured out that food was the sickness.
After ramadan I fast differently, I get my coffee and that triggers my IR so I think it’s better to fast the whole time Islamic fasting no fluids no meals nothing 🙂
From down to sunset . We’ll see if this fixes this condition
What medicine are u taking? I am in 30s hv daibetes
Excellent! I understood everything. Thank you.
Which type of magnesium do you recommend - citrate, sulfate, other?

Hello I appreciate your valuable content. How frequent do you recommend eating ginger to reverse IR? Thank you
Awesome awesome info, well done Thomas, you are doing wonderful job . Thank you so much! Please do more of these type of videos for type 1 diabetic kids ... keto, low carb and things that others won't talk about. Great job!!😊😊😊
Great info. Thank you
Should the cinnamon be added to coffee as a small stick for flavoring. Or powder for consumption?
Thomas, really appreciate your video on improving insulin resistance.. Im dealing with PCOS and Im trying to bulk. Carbs are not helping with insulin and I dont know what I should eat to bulk replacing carbs? thanks for your help.
Brilliant brilliant video. Thank you 🙏🏽
I agree, but, when going thru stressful times, does'nt fasting put more stress on the adrenals?
Yes but how are we gaining weight through stress if were not eating anything? That's like saying stressing out from a workout will make you gain weight.
Just subscribed because you deserved it with this info. I've been watching a couple years without sub. Thanks!
Great and encouraging informations 🙏🙏
@ ColeMckay You described me quite well. I’d love a dialogue with you.
Excellent information. Thanks man.
Do you have a video on the impact of fasting for diabetics? For some reason, I feel worse after I fast, my glucose levels are worse after coming out from the fast. What can you do to avoid that and not making diabetics condition worse with fasting.
Thanks!!
Always love the analogy you put in videos. It truly helps to understand better. Thanks a lot Thomas! Happy holiday!
I've been doing the one meal a day with healthy fats and a green vegetable with it that's keto friendly for about 9 days and I have a lot more energy. Also its amazing how what you eat affects the mind. Mentally I feel great! Eat to live dont live to eat!
Excellent excellent excellent advice!
wow almost 2M subs. Well earned, anytime i have a question I go here.
Always great info. Thanks
How long should you wait before starting your next meal?
Love the videos. I live for this stuff. 3 sizes down 2 to go. Thanks for the motivation. I started IF last year. I love it. I can’t even imagine life without it. I never snack
Any information about type 1
Thomas, with the fasting and fewer meals, it’s had to get enough fiber. Are fiber pills ok?
Hey Thomas, I've been experiencing acid reflux lately because of fasting, and because of that I've not been able to fast for longer hours. Do you have any tips and tricks on how to control this?
I love your content btw! Much love and peace!♥️🙏
Try apple cider vinegar it will balance ur ph levels which affects the valve that allows acid to reach ur throat it also wont diminish ur fasting it will be enhanced.
@@HurakanKondor thank you so much! I've started using it recently, hopefully I'll see the results 😊🙏
@@glamgurl did it work
Which magnesium, bitrate or whatever it is?
Thanks so much Thomas. Big fan of your channel. Facts and insight !!!
Thank u
Flax is what women who've entered menopause need. And, some women enter it "overnight". One missed period can mean menopause, and that just happened to me. It would be nice if you presented more info on women doing low carb/keto and IF, and included our different needs compared to men. TIA.
Caroline McAllister thank you for the suggestion 🙂
Thanks for watching!
What age? Just curious when my wife can stop having kids.
@@lifeisgood070 The typical age is between 48 to 52. There's perimenopause, then menopause. Twelve consecutive months without a period means menopause. During perimenopause, your wife can get pregnant; because she's still menstruating, even though it's irregular.

For everything you mentioned you wanted info on for women look up Dr. Mindy Pelz on UA-cam. Her content is focused on women. It's excellent.
What kind of magnesium? Also will adding cinnamon to my coffee break my fast?
Love your videos... I went to the store and bought this "grass fed, grass finished" beef you always speak of. It was horrible. I felt like I was grazing at the pasture. Very gamey... I don't think I can get used to that taste... Wish I could take it but I'm going back to the cancer meat, thanks for the suggestion.
My body weight is 97 kg being 5'8 recently got my blood test done in which my fasting glucose was 102.3 mg I'm pre diabetic
Best video ever
What do u think about wheat bran in keto
Awesome video!
Ramadan fasting is not only constricting food intake for 14 or 15 hours but also no liquid at all. I just want to point out this. Thank you for your great videos
Thanks for watching!
@@ThomasDeLauerOfficial pls Tomas. We really need you to do video on Ramadan in terms what to eat before and after knowingly that we can't consumed liquids. I know you did videos on what breaks the fast and what to consume before and after, but we need you to do similar video now that you know that there is no liquids at all during fasting periods. Pls pls. (And don't mention bacon pls)
He did say no water in the beginning.
