Gunnar has to have some of the greatest stories ever!!! I mean, blow by statements
like "Mamma Cass babysat us" and "George Harrison ate breakfast with us". Then all the stuff about the Flynn house that I'm sure he could dive deeper much deeper into. I mean WOW!!!
Have these guys considered writing an autobiography? From the few things Gunnar said, hinted to and made a quick comment about, i can see a 60 hour long audio book. I'd be glued to that!
You're so right! This stuff needs to be in a book, or a series of interviews. He has a wealth of Hollywood history entwined in his life -- and he's a GREAT interview subject.
Either he or his brother babysat Paris Hilton. They mentioned it in an interview a few years ago.
I heard rumors Kris has a fling with George, who knows. I think John was friends with Rick too.
I think a book would be my vote. But I'm considered a bit old-fashioned at this point.
@@twistoffate4791 I agree, this stuff is too juicy to just put on UA-cam or a TV show.
Such an interesting interview and Gunnar seems like a great guy. I’m sorry he lost his Dad so young.
Yes it’s so sad I remember hearing about the plane crash and I remember I was devastated. I was such a big fan of the Ozzie and Harriet show reruns
Talks just like Ricky. I remember him in the western movie...pretty good
This is a wonderful interview. Gunnar has a warm personality. He has survived Hollywood in the best way. Thanks for sharing this with us.
100% agree!
@@robertspears2532 Right on!
Yes I agree a great interview, Gunner a nice person and has survived the Hollywood.
I like Gunnar he is a sweet and kind young man ,very open about everything in his life.
…..And he’s done an 8 Ball. It makes interviews great
Great interview, Gunnar is extremely intelligent and well spoken. Rick would be very proud and is I’m sure!
What a GREAT INTERVIEW! Gunnar is well spoken, and a wealth of information. Thank you for all your hard work😊
I worked on the restoration of Ozzie and Harriet's home in Hollywood where they filmed the television show. Rickey Nelson's name was carved into a bed he slept in and was kept preserved in his upstairs bedroom bed frame was covered by tape to not alter it or paint it.
@@markcastle3128 That's a very cool bit of infotainment. Thank you for sharing that.
Yes I agree a great interview with Gunner.
I interview people too, and sometimes you talk to someone who makes the convo so easy, like Gunnar. Great job! 👏 👏
Such an interesting guy - thoughtful and really observant. I appreciate that Jordan gives him the chance to talk without interruption. Pretty rare.
You hit it out of the park with this interview Jordan. I remember when you vlogged the Flynn/Nelson house. Gunnar is a cool dude and interviewee....could listen to him all day. Thanks Jordan and Gunnar.
Have you seen the Celebrity Ghost Stories episode with Tracy Nelson? Also a great story
@@5wheels521 Yes!
incredible interview...you can feel Gunnar's pain, sensitivity and sensibility in all this. imagine even thinking your dad knew something was up and saved your life. I could spend hours just listening to this man talk. Part of him wants to be just a regular guy hangin' out with his neighbors on a Saturday afternoon. I am 11 years older than him.
Wow! What an amazing interview Jordan. I was captivated by Gunnar's extremely articulate and vivid recollections and the way he generously shared the historical aspects of his hugely talented family's life. All of us grew up with the Nelson Family--whether it was with bandleader Ozzie Nelson's music, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Ricky Nelson, Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band, or The Nelson Brothers. The Nelson family have been and continue to be part of the fabric of many of our lives.
Both Gunnar and Matthew are an amazing testament to their father's huge legacy yet stand on their own incredible merits and talents. I had the opportunity to meet both brothers when I was a music publicist in Hollywood. It was so refreshing to meet two immensely grounded and genuinely real individuals. Their tribute to their father is stellar and a must see for any fan of Ricky, The Nelsons, or great music for that matter. They commit 110% to each performance, as you can see from their preparation, which you magically captured in your vlog Jordan.
Outstanding interview Jordan and very much look forward to seeing The Nelson's on tour in 2022!
Tracy was a decent actress. I heard Sam singing on YT, he has a decent voice too.
I'm a traveling man infinity thanks to Rick.
Thank you for this. Gunnar confirms every dark, bloody , underbelly that is still the entertainment industry. What sick bastards these star makers were. Gunnar seems like the kind of fair minded, unshakable friend we all want. AND they are carrying on the music that started with their grandparents. Absolutely stellar people. Again, thank you.
Hello 👋 dear, how are you doing?
Have you worked in the industry? I have. Veteran of the industry...both performing and the biz, music and tv. I have incurred far more injustice and abuse in so-called normal jobs than in entertainment. The main thing with regard to as you put it underbellies" in any business is knowing your rights, how well you negotiate, and your luck re who your bosses are. That goes for all types of businesses. Sometimes you are lucky as to who your bosses and sometimes not.
@@IMeMineWho , I agree 100% with you regarding know your bosses. I was referring to the evil things that some entertainers are subjected to, in order to rise to out of this world fame. I had wrestled with the me, too movement for various reasons, mostly because it was hard to understand the enormity of this. But even that's not really what I was referring to, when I said, " What sick bastards these star makers were." I was going much deeper. I just was trying not to be graphic. I believe that every contract should be looked at by an attorney. I say that now, not because of the Crowder v Daily Wire garbage going on now. I find Crowder to be a snake using the lack of knowledge most of his listeners have regarding contracts. If anything good comes from his charade it might be that people will not sign anything without a lawyer. But back to your comment, I agree that there is underhanded bosses everywhere. The entertainment community has a conundrum in that most entertainers just want to do what they love, many are living and breathing their art. Whereas applying to a corporation, is just not the same. That leaves our artist a bit more vulnerable. It's a tough world and if you are careful it will destroy you. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope you live the life of your dreams. 👏
@IMeMineWho Obviously you didn't make it very far and maybe that's why you didn't see the depravity that goes on to make it big in the "industry'
Fantastic interview, Jordan! Gunnar is a wealth of information - not only about his famous Dad - but about Hollywood and the rock scene in general. Great stories about the Flynn House, too! Thanks to you and Gunnar for this awesome video!!!!
We need the book!!!
Yes I agree a great interview with Gunner and Rick Nelson a great singer.Have a great day
Their sister Tracy did an episode of Celebrity Ghost Stories and talks about the trauma she experienced in that house. It's quite compelling.
How interesting… will look for it. Thank You 😊
Interesting. I think I'll try & track it down, too.
That house is creepy! Actually, the whole grounds are creepy. During the early 80s punk days in Hollywood, that was an after hours hang out. We'd sneak through an opening in the fence with booze and what have you, and hang around the pool area. One night, some friends and I brought candles and decided to do a half-assed seance. The weird energy around that place was off the charts!
I saw that. VERY scary. It made me more aware of Errol Flynn's dark side.
Oh yes her story was terrifying. That’s what made me so curious about Errol Flynn. Tracy is great too.
What a great interview, Jordan! Gunnar is a terrific storyteller. Some of his tales and takes on things are mindblowing.
I spent summer of 1981 at Mountain Meadow Ranch in Susanville, CA, with Gunnar and Matthew. I was 23, a counselor, and ran the horsebackriding program. they were 13. They were both really nice kids, Gunnar the more chatty of the two. Have a photo of us "Doing the Time Warp" at one of the camp dances. They used to sing once in awhile too. The other campers were a bit young to know who their dad was, but the counselors did, and could easily see and hear the resemblance. Josh Brolin and Jonathan Gilbert were campers there that summer as well. Thanks for sharing this , and celebrating their continuing success Nancy Chester ..camp name "Trigger"
😄
that is so cool
Yours was a great story too Nancy, thank you for sharing it
What a fantastic guest! I love how transparent he is on the stories of his family , the house and Hollywood. I do remember the very handsome blonde Nelson brothers as very young musicians performing. I took a few pics of Rick Nelson when he performed at the fair in my town (right before he passed away.) I still cherish them to this day.
Man I wish I had one of those pics.... I was having a new years eve party when we heard about Ricky Nelson's plane crashing and his passing. We stopped the party and prayed for the family then I said we will listen to his music and bring in the new year with his music... It made me feel good knowing Ricky's music will live on . RIP Ricky you are missed. ✌️
Ricky had dark hair. Dave was blonde.
@@terriwatson3993 What a lovely thing for you to do that horrible night 😢
I absolutely love this one, Jordan. Heard so many stories about Flynn and that house. Tracy Nelson appeared on a ghost story show on Biography years ago in which she talked about seeing Flynn at the bottom of the stairs one night as he held up a glass of champagne to her.
It’s so cool that you were able to speak to the Nelson boys directly. Thanks for sharing this! And the photos of the house are just as I would margined it would be. ♥️
I was so in love with Nelson when I was younger, specifically Matthew. And yes, I still remember every word to their songs, lol.
I enjoyed this organic interview. Gunnar is insightful and the stories of his life and family were generous of him to share. It’s nice to have an interview where the host isn’t treating his guest like a math problem that needs to be solved. He was legit interested in Gunnar’s story. 👏 🎉
Brilliant interview⚡could listen to Gunnar tell stories all day long. 70's and early 80's LA was a special place to grow up in, wish I had a portal. Would love a part 2 🙏
I'm going to be honest, I had no intention of listening to this video but when Gunnar started talking about everything, I got hooked
This was a great interview 👏

I really enjoyed this interview. He has lots of great Hollywood stories...he should write a book about growing up in Hollywood.
I agree!!
"Growing up Nelson!"
I love them, and the Gram Parsons 💕 tee.. .was it Matthew that dated Bobbie Brown? I miss Tracy, hope she is doing well.
I'm glad to see this I know Matt and Gunnar, I met them where I live in Kilgore Texas, they played at the Dodson auditorium. They're friends of mine too.
This was really good. So much interesting stuff Gunnar talked about. He seems like a really nice, decent and down to Earth guy. This was an excellent interview.
I got to attend a Rick Nelson concert when I was a little girl. I was in the front and he reached down and touched my hand. I was so excited. Love the Nelson family!
You Rock Jordan!
this is a great interview I love seeing real musicians talk about the business... You sounded thrilled to speak to Gunnar... I would be...much love to you and Jah ❤️
Gunnar is tremendously intuitive, and yes, very much an empath. He is incredibly smart and generous with his time and his personal knowledge to be the wonderful story teller he is.
I wanted this interview to last another hour.
This is the best interview ever! I will definitely go back and watch it again. I've always been a fan of the Nelson brothers. I grew up on reruns of the Ozzie and Harriet show. Thanks for such a great episode!
Thank you
I'm binge watching your channel new sub so happy I found you Thank-you!
What about Tracey;
@@DazewithJordantheLion So who owns the eryl flyn house now in 2023?
I visited Rick at the Flynn house with Bobby Neal a few times. The kids were home but asleep as it was 3:00am. Rick was one of the sweetest men I ever met. The house was amazing and the drive up was mind blowing.
I think I'd like to hear your story of that night, I've always heard how generous and kind Rick Nelson was to everyone. Even people in the music industry have only good things to say about him. My father was a fan of his when he was growing up.
Tell us more!
Hi Jordan, loved hearing about the Flynn house. How eerie to hear him say that house was alive, that house wasn't just a house, it was a thing. Some properties are better off gone. A very interesting gentleman to listen too. Great hearing about his dad aswell. Great vlog Jordan.
Nelson's are my family friends. Glad to see and hear of them again
Continued success & God Bless, Matthew & Gunnar! Haribol Harmony
If you haven't watched the interview with Tracy living or staying in that house, I highly recommend it..

This was a wonderful storytelling session with Gunnar Nelson! I was riveted by his every word, and didn't want Jordan to interrupt him at all. Fascinating stuff. I don't if he's written an autobiography, but he definitely should. He's got the storytelling skill. Thanks to you both for doing this great video! 👍☮🌟

I named my daughter Tracy after Tracy Nelson ! BTW...Travelin Man is my favorite Ricky Nelson song .
I had the pleasure of meeting Matthew and Gunner on The Moody Blues cruise III 2015.
With a plethora of classic 60s & 70s bands on board, these young men whete one of the greatest shows I've ever seen!
The comedy, bond and love, these two just bounced off of each other.
The tribute to their father was endearing, emotional and just beautifully done! I was so blessed and honored.
The nicest down to earth Kids on the planet.
They stayed at the same hotel in Miami that we did.
I admit being starstruck. Gunner was sitting with his family.
As we passed by them I beaver and thanked them for such an unforgettable experience. I was holding my phone but afraid to adj for a pic. He picked up on this and asked me if we wanted a sekfie. My ear to ear smile and immediate "really" you don't mind?! He laughed and said here, I'm taller and I'm a pro at selfies😁 It was by far in the top 5 major highlights of that cruise for me.
Thank you guys! Love hearing the stories of their childhood filled with celebrities, musicians and others.
Rock on boys! 🤘😎✌

Lately I have missed some of your vlogs. So happy that I started with this one. I always love interviews with Gunnar and Matthew. They always seem open and comfortable. Gunnar's story style goes really well with the way you interview. I love that you ask the question or make a prodding statement and stay out of the way so the interviewee can answer. As always an entertaining and informative vlog. With one of my favorite musicians. Easy to admit I have all or most of Matt and Gunnar's music.
I can definitely see Gunnar’s resemblance to his Dad too.
Loved this and loved your guest!! What an amazing life full of colorful and interesting stories and, man!, he wasn't afraid to throw out the truth bombs. He has my respect and admiration. Ricky Nelson must be very proud that they are continuing his legacy and honoring their Father at the same time. Great!
This is a TOP SHELF interview guys! Rethink turning this venue into a regular series.
Whatever you decide, we are interested in your work.... fabulous job!

Gunnar is so down to earth. I’d love to sit with him and talk for hours just about the Flynn house and the early rock days in the 70’s.

What a riveting interview. I came away with a far greater respect and admiration for Gunnar and the behind the scenes info was outstanding.
My son was 9 mos old when I took him to an eye dr appointment in Encino Ca. While in the waiting room, there were a couple of twin boys running around. in the small reception room , raising general hell. They had a teenage boy (presumably their babysitter) with them. Failing to control the two little hellers, he finally said “If you guys don’t straighten up, I’m telling your dad about the gun!”. Next thing I knew, who walked into the waiting room, but Ricky Nelson. The nurse and receptionist were pretty star struck and everyone in the room just got real quiet - whether out of shock or what I don’t know. I do remember he looked amazing - great looking guy, wearing a leather vest with long fringe, along with really nice clothes- kind of like something he’d appear in in concert. . Apparently their mom was supposed to meet them all there but my turn was called to take my baby into see the dr so I didn’t see how the whole scenario ended. I was never a huge fan of Ricky Nelson but it was definitely a big deal to see a musician of his fame( which was right up there with Elvis at the time) up close. That’s probably the last time those boys had short hair! 😄
Wow! A lot of good, reliable info about old Hollywood, Rick Nelson &. that music scene- all of which are interests of mine. Thanks, Gunnar & Jordan.
Hi 👋 dear, how are you doing?
Thank you for showing this interview. I always thought a lot of Rick Nelson, but never really knew a lot about his life when he was older. I really enjoyed listening to Gunnar. As someone who really enjoys history I loved this. 🥰
Such a fantastic interview Jordan!! I love how open and honest Gunnar was about life and the reality of the music/film industry.
What a outstanding vlog/interview, I was totally engrossed in what Gunnar was saying about the Flynn house ,really interesting, secret tunnels,2 way mirrors ,oppression atmosphere inside, what really went on in there, I wonder if anybody is still alive to tell the tale,if so,they probably wouldn't because they would be implicating themselves, haha.
What a beautiful interview, Love how Gunner talked about his Dad, telling the highs & the lows of their families life, a very down to earth guy for sure
Wow! Great interview! I could have easily listened to Gunnar for a couple more hours. I loved it when he said he has a low tolerance for stupidity. I really felt for Rick when he said he was gone all the time to get away from his wife and the divorce. I remember when Mark Harmon, Kris Nelson’s brother, tried to get custody of their little brother. She must have really had problems. It was really eerie when he said his Dad didn’t want them riding in the plane the day before the crash. Thanks for sharing this interview.
I met Mark Harmon very 👍
I haven't enjoyed any celeb interview this much in a long time! Gunnar was absolutely captivating. Wish it had been longer!
Tell Gunnar we would so buy their book, do it; fantastic interview! Also, Jordan, we need more Gram Parsons Vlogs, suspicious death, etc.
Boy, they resemble both parents- it’s uncanny. Was so sad when they divorced and his subsequent death. His music was very special
Thank you so much for this interview! Growing up, my Parents would fill the house with the music of Ricky Nelson and other artists they grew up listening to. And then Gunnar and Matthew came along and I enjoyed singing along to their songs, and still do! And I enjoyed watching their sister Tracy in The Father Dowling Mysteries. A very talented family!

This was a terrific interview. Also a really important one for any student of rock and roll history. It was very generous of Gunner Nelson to share his memories with us. Jordan, your channel just keeps getting better and better.
I really enjoyed this vlog. I remember when the planet crashed probably because I lived about 45 minutes from the airport it took off from In Alabama. I saw Nelson as an opener for someone in the early 90’s. Really cool interview!

There’s a Celebrity Ghost Stories episode (season 2, episode 3) that features the ghost stories of the Errol Flynn house as told by Tracy Nelson. You can watch it on UA-cam. I thought it was an interesting story.
As I was watching this interview in the back of my mind I was thinking of the ghost story as well. I knew as soon as this finished I was going to rewatch the Tracey Nelson ghost story next.

That was a fascinating interview Jordan! I'm always struck by how dark the other side of Hollywood and the music profession can be. I'm glad that Gunnar seems to have come out the other side of it seemingly well adjusted.
Gunnar is not speaking of Hollywood as a business when he speaks of the seaminess of Hollywood. There is Hollywood the physical place and then there is Hollywood that ppl who do not live in California imagine (the entertainment business). Gunnar when he speaks of being an empath and sensing ppl's desperation is speaking of Hollywood the place as the physical location brings many ppl who do not research either the business, nor do they have a backup plan when they come to Hollywood to attempt to realize their dreams which then become broken and then may become homeless or addicted due to lack of prep work and research. I have worked performing and in the biz and heard many Midwesterners and Southerners who dreamt of being musicians or actors and came here without a dime and no contacts or training who nonetheless came to California hoping to make it and convinced because they were handsome or pretty and thus would attain stardom in a year. These are the ppl who become addicted or homeless.
@@IMeMineWho I have lived in L.A. for over 30 years. Perhaps Gunnar was just referring to the seaminess of geographic Hollywood, but I know there is a lot of seaminess in the entertainment business, too.

Fascinating! Gunner is a natural communicator for sure.
Great video Jordan. I grew up watching replays of the Ozzie and Harriet shows. I like Gunnar's take on the entertainment industry.
Wow! This was a GREAT interview! I came because I have a fascination of the Errol Flynn house, but Gunnar told great stories about everything. Thanks for this.
When you go into a house full of history where at times a lot of bad experiences happened to one or several people that emotion stays behind and you can feel it. Flynn I'd say wasn't perfect to a lot of women in his life and then Ricky and his wife had a difficult relationship that were filled with some disagreements. All of that's stayed behind and can affect the people who are more emotional.
They're called imprints.
Yeah, that's bad energy residue that stays behind, like echoes of a distant past that reverberate through the walls n passageways of a house giving it that eerie feel.
Or.... sometimes the house itself causes all the issues that the occupants have happen. I grew up in a haunted house and currently live in a haunted house. The first house started positive and then it showed it's real self. I hope this new one doesn't follow suit.
Seems like a righteous dude. The kind of guy I'd be happy to be neighbors with.
I took my then gf to the old Farmers Fair in Hemet, Southern California, one Summer. Ricky Nelson was on that night, and we had a great time listening and nostalgia-ing. A few short months later I'm at work and we have the radio on. The news of the crash is announced, and, for some reason, it really hits me. I get this weird (I know) feeling that we played some weird ethereal part in it. I never watched another live performance by any act at a fair - LA County, Orange County, Riverside County, Del Mar.....nothing to this day.
The gf moved an hour away, the other side of the planet for a 17-18 year old dude working his butt off, and we broke up. 28 years later I get a letter in the mail. She tracked me down. That was like 12 years ago (I think lol), we've been together since and married for like 7 (?).
I still talk about Ricky Nelson, and everybody thinks I'm nuts. Yeah, well, maybe......
I really love how personable the Nelson twins are, they should have a Reality show or podcast with their brother Sam and their sister Tracey too!!🥰
A Great man and artist of his time and beyond!
Loved this vlog. What a extraordinary life Gunnar has lived. They need to make a movie thru the eyes of Rick Nelson.
THIS was just what the Dr ordered! I have never been to Hollywood but I can honestly tell you that I've always felt something warning me to stay far away. I've always been drawn to the stories, the emotions and feelings that music can stir and create. Music is an entity of it's own. I too am very empathetic and pick up on things so I can relate to everything Gunner talks about. I was introduced to Rick Nelson's music as a tiny little girl. I thought he was better than Elvis! As I got older I went back and watched all the old episodes of Ozzy and Harriette and finally found as many 45's as I could find! Then finally plastering Gunner and Mathew's posters all over my bedroom walls!! I love, love, loved this vlog! Thanks for another home run Jordan❤
EXCELLENT interview! Thank you.
These guys have an encyclopedic knowledge of the Hollywood scene on so many levels. Thank you for this golden interview!
