I just bought this rifle and have two trips to the range with it. Rifle shot pretty good right out of the box. The only thing I was concerned about was the roughness of the bolt. However after working the bolt many times it has smoothed out. I have tried several different manufactures of ammo. It is surprising how much the point of impact can change with different bullets. So far 100 yds is the longest shots I have taken. Shooting clay targets on a bank is no problem. It is a fun little to play with.
Thanks for great video about a great rifle but I am one up on you regarding the squirrel story . . . with my Savage Mark II FV-SR. Got 6 the other day in a little over 1 minute as they were raiding my bird feeders. Same as your story though . . not even one of them knew what was happening since I was shooting through a Liberty Kodiak TL suppressor. BTW my scope is a Leupold VX-II 3-9x33mm Rimfire EFR (extra fine reticle) which I highly recommend. Although it might seem stupid to spend more on the scope than I spent on the rifle I have never regretted it. This is a perfect match because the optics are brilliant, the scope weighs only 11.50 ounces and it is parallax adjustable. Your review cost me some money since I did not know Savage made a 17HMR in the same configuration as the FV-SR until I read the comments under your review. I bought and set up the Model 93R17 FV-SR with the same scope and suppressor. It is a real tack driver but not as Stealthy as the 22 LR since all ammo for the 17HMR way above super sonic. I also bought the Boyd stock (you mentioned and reviewed) for this gun and it is real nice except for the weight. I wish a better stock that is light in weight were available for these rifles because the light weight is one thing that makes them so good. Please keep up those great reviews. BTW . . . . Have you tried Eley 40 grain, 1,065 fps (subsonic) hollow points? They are fantastic for accuracy, quietness and very lethal on squirrels, raccoons, etc.
I have had this rifle with the brushed barrel finish for about 2.5 years and just got my dad one for his birthday last year and his barrel is finished with a nicer coating. Maybe ceracoat but I'm super jealous of the finish that his rifle has. I may get mine refinished eventually lol
Yay! You finally got around to reviewing my rifle! :) Needless to say, I share your love of the little Savage ... and your disdain for the factory stock. While I'm still working toward upgrades like the Boyd's stock and a suppressor / stamp, it's nice to see what I have to look forward to.
I have one of these and it's a excellent shooter. The accuracy of this rifle impressed me out to 100 yards (haven't tried farther yet) with Remington ammo. I use mine for target shooting to hunting.
I've had my FVSR for about 2 years now. It's a great rifle and excellent suppressor host. I have mine setup similar to what yours will eventually be. I use the same Boyds stock, Mueller APT scope instead of the APV you have, and a simple Caldwell 6"-9" pivoting bipod. It's a great setup for a benchrest rimfire rifle. You'll notice a definite weight increase after adding the Boyds stock compared to the factory plastic stock. Using CCI SV and a Silencerco Sparrow I get 1" groups at 50 yards.
I shoot 3/4" groups at 50 with the rifle the way it is. I hope the Tacticool stock and better bottom metal tighten that up. I also have an APT to put on this.
I bought the semi auto FV-SR semi auto with the same barrel, not fluted for like $175 at Academy. Waiting for my scope rings and silencer to get here. Can't wait to see what kind of groups it will do.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for making this video. I did a lot of research. And after seeing a ton of videos, reading forums and searching around for other reviews I finally purchased one. I zeroed in my Nikon Prostaff Rimfire scope in 5 shots and this rifle shoots like a dream at 50, 75 and 100 yards. Based on price and performance, I would recommend this rifle to anyone.
Thanks for the Savage Review. So many people do overlook Savage as a quality piece. I guess they do not remember the Savage Stevens of long ago that supplied very accurate .22 cal rifles. They still do, folks just forgot or drawn to other models.
TWANGnBANG yes sir i do believe they are underrated. but i cant vouch for any savage product other than this shotgun i have. its been used so much you cant read what it says on the barrel or anywhere on it really. anyway the shotgun i have is very dependable. i dont think ive had 1 problem at all with it.
22lr being so hard to find these days, I opted for the 93r17 fv. Love Savage. Its a tack driver out to 150 yards. My longest shot was 105 yards on red squirrel in 32 mph wind. Dropped him like a hot nail. Just can't go wrong with a Savage bolt gun.
the stock you bought to replace the original actually comesm with a different model called the mk ii tr i have it and its a great stock definitely my favorite squirrel hunting gun but i prefer my bow over my gun
I usually shoot a Savage Mark II TR .22LR with a Boyds Tactical hardwood stock that came with the rifle from Savage. I have also shot a Ruger .22LR 10-22 Take Down with the same results that I describe below (My Ruger .22LR New Single Action revolver has also worked in the same manner at 50 yards when scoped with a 2.5 scout scope.). My rifle MOA's at 50 and 100 yards are usually sub MOA (My target is a 3/4 inch circle at both 50 and 100 yds.). My current preferred 22LR at 50 and 100 yards is SK Long Range AFTER I have used a Neal Waltz resizing die on the ammo (A Lee hand held press works well with the resizing die.). The die does two things that I identify as improving the precision (No, I have no targets to demonstrate.). One, resizing ensures that for 360 degrees the 22LR driving rings are a consistent 0.225 in., and two, that the rings are 0.225 in. to ensure positive contact with the rifling grooves. The die will not correct the deficiencies of sub-standard ammo (Remington and Winchester examples of poorly made ammo.). Good ammo that I have used is SK, Lapua and Wolf 22LR ammo (Each of the aforementioned use an oil for lubrication as opposed to a wax used by CCI and Ely.) Also, one may use the die to create/modify .22LR hollow point ammo. Will the COAL (cartridge over all length) change? Yes, usually with the SK the change will be from 0.980 in. to about 0.940 in.
Savage has a $25 rebate on their Mark II's. Looks like I'll pick up a FV-SR next month :D I'd go for a 20" Mark II but the 16" should do just fine for my purposes.
I have a Ruger American rimfire that I got and intended to set up with a bipod, scope and suppressor. With that being said, i've been plinking with it in stock configuration while I wait on my suppressor and now I don't want to change it! It's such a sweet shooter that I want to keep it stock and buy a second bolt action .22lr for a long range set up. I have been looking at getting a mark II just to change things up a bit but i'm seriously thinking my best option is to just buy a second American. It has an amazing adjustable trigger, A GREAT stock with interchangeable cheek combs, and takes the same mags as my 10/22... I think i've convinced myself.
I wish larger caliber rifles could achieve this level of sound reduction. Even with subsonic ammo they're nowhere near this quiet this would be perfect for plinking without hearing protection.
Jeremy Case The larger the bore, the more gas runs straight through the suppressor without getting caught by the baffles. That's an issue that will probably never get solved without using wipes.
I have the Mark II TR which comes with the Boyd's stock but is missing the threaded barrel. The TRR-SR seems to have it all, but has this picatinny tumor on the action which should be a crime. Your FV-SR with the Boyd's stock (& 22 suppressor) is probably the way to go.
That was an earlier version that has since been tweaked a bit to get what I reviewed here. I don't think you'll find a new one that cheap anymore because they have no problems selling out in the $230-250 range these days.
TWANGnBANG I have not seen the $170 price since, but had seen $300 and laughed. I didn't know a change was made. I really like these, and keep thinking about getting one. The "problem" is that I already have a 96/22 and can't BS myself into buying one of these.
theKAHUNA144 Many people buy univeral cheek risers and drill the stock for the hardware. It keeps the weight down and allows perfect customization of the rise. You can usually find them for about $40. Thanks for watching!
thanks for the heads up but is hard to find gun stuff where I live. Thank you for the vids your one of my favorite channels for revues , one can only handle so much TNP .
TWANGnBANG I did not think you took a shot, that is so quiet. There are 10 round mags available for the Mk II, since I did find some for my sons Mk II a few years ago. That Boyd stock looks great.
I hunt squirrels and rabbits with this exact rifle and a Bushnell 3-9x40 and it's incredibly accurate! I have been using CCI Blazer ammo and I never miss a shot. Sadly I can't own a suppressor in California but if that law ever changes I am snagging one immediately for it!
No formal break-in, thank goodness. I just shot it knowing that these tend to take a few hundred rounds to reach their potential. After that, I've seen no changes in accuracy, either way. It wasn't horrible to start, but it did cut about 50% off the size of my initial groups.
This is actually quieter than my air rifle, though I would classify my GAMO more as a budget air rifle. I took a few squirrels with it, but it seems I'd have to spend a lot more to get the accuracy with an air rifle that I get with this 22LR. Long term, I do hope to get some nice air rifles for T&E.
Hey, when are you planning on posting the video with the Boyds stock? I picked up the FV-SR with all the same peripherals after seeing your video. I've fallen in love with it but I'm thinking about the Tacticool stock and just want to see a good review first.
You said in the video they low mount if I am correct. You also mentioned about removing the the rail and using blue Locktite. Did you torque the screws back down and to what ft lbs?
froy7106 I don't know the torque specs off the top of my head- I just google them each time I put on a rail, but yes, I used my Wheeler FAT wrench and torqued to spec.
Have the semi auto model and its just a fun rifle to use,be prepared to go threw a few boxes of ammo. What sort if sound level do you get with silencer.
Great Video, thanks a lot! Your vid and comments made me decide for this rifle, and I enyoy it so much! Also have I bought the Boyds Tacticool stock for it as you recommend in an other video, which adds not only weight, but brings the whole appearance and feel up to a great Level. Anyway, even out of the box a great deal! Thanks and go on, greetings from Germany, Hubert
I'm looking at multiple .22lrs such as this one and the Cz 455 for hunting raccoons coyotes and opossums. And I have a few questions about this weapon.1.is the stock that much of a draw back? 2.can it shoot cheaper ammo .3 could it take some abuse out in the back woods .4 is it worth the money or should I buy the more exspensive Cz 455? Please respond
Joe Reeser It's an original AAC Pilot, and it came free with my 762-SDN-6 from a dealer that I don't think is still in the business. Check out silencershop.com if you're interested in silencers.
The savage website said msrp was $358. I bought it from Gander Mtn. Probably why I paid so much. The barrel is threaded for suppressor. Just not fluted. I will definitely be contacting them. I can't wait to get it setup for fox & coyote hunting. How is the Sweet 17 scope, Is it worth checking out? I'm not putting any of my leupolds on this gun.
Zach Paladino Gander Mtn. has the most outrageous prices. Next time, check with budsgunshop.com or grabagun.com, where you could've bought the FVSR for under $250 shipped to the FFL of your choice. You would've probably paid another $25 transfer fee, but it's a good route to go if Gander Mtn. is the only place that carries what you want otherwise. Not familiar with the Sweet 17. I have a Mueller APV on mine, and I love it.
Yeah I know what you're saying Brutha! I just searched their sites...No 17hmrs what so ever! The savage 93 fv-sr they have is only chambered in 22mag. And it was $283. So with shipping, tax, transfer, yadi yadi yada and all that good bullshit, I'm thinking I would of still payed the same regardless. I'll keep those sites in mind though for future reference. Thank you though. I think I lucked out finding what I was looking for. He'll our biggest gun shop here in PA, called Trops didn't even have them.
Jamaljackson Silencers can only quieten the sound of the gasses that propel a bullet, but they cannot do anything about the sound a bullet makes as it flies through the air. Supersonic bullets create a sonic boom that is responsible for the crack that you can hear from very far away. A silencer does make shooting supersonic ammo much quieter to the shooter, but to an observer, the effect of a silencer on the sound created by a supersonic round is less and less the greater the distance.
To solve your cheek weld problems , check out The Leatherman's line of Accu-riser cheek risers. They have a couple of models that fit the Savage MkII FV-SR perfectly. www.accu-riser.com .
Have you had any feeding issues? I have a Savage Mk ii TR and it feeds horribly. It will be fine but on the last 2 shots of the 5 rnd mag, it will either jam or go in rough.
No feeding problems due to the rifle, but I have had one of my mags go bad and result in feeding issues like yours. Try a new mag to see if that fixes things first.
Literally looking to buy one of these guys tomorrow. They also make another model at a different price point that has a different stock. Which route would you go?
I went through the same decision, and went with the FVSR for the shorter barrel and lack of that obnoxious tri rail on the TRR. I just out the same Boyd's stock on it, and I came out ahead on the cost for what I think is a much better setup. My next video will be about the stock, but you can see it in action in my last video, linked below. @watch?v=DrintWN43jc
TWANGnBANG thanks for the speedy reply and I'll take your advice on that. When you post that video try to post a link of where we can purchase the stock at as well. I've looked around around and they seem to be unavailable
Michael Rideout With Boyd's, you just have to place your order so you get in the next production run which happens every two weeks or so. That said, this is the kit I'd recommend, and they say it should ship within 30 days: www.diproductsinc.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1038843&CAT=8796
TWANGnBANG just picked her up today and I'll be placing a order on that stock here soon. Question for you since this is my first 22lr. You mentioned having to put a couple hundred rounds through it in order to break in the barrel. The only ammo I have in stock is Remington Gold bullet value pack, will this do the job of breaking it in?
Great videos. Well after watching your video I went to my local gun shop an picked up the Mark II FV-SR. It was on sale for $224.99 not including Savage's rebate of $25 off, which will bring it to $199.99 not bad at all. I was looking at the Mueller APV on their website and they recommend using Burris Signature Zee rings, because they have plastic inserts. I was interested in the scope rings you have on your setup. Could you tell me the name of them? Thanks - Frank
+TWANGnBANG Thanks. We enjoyed the video. I think we are now leaning towards the Savage over the 10/22 or Marlin. This is going to be our very first rifle.
+Doc Holliday Hey Doc. Thanks! I did not know about the GXP. I'll look at it on UA-cam tonight. It's difficult getting to know the different brands and models since we know so little about this culture. We wanted a starter rifle with the ability to "grow into it." We liked the look of wood despite the advantages of the polymers. I thought the one Twang and Bang reviewed (FV-SR) was going to be just what we were looking for. But at 140.00 I think I'll be heading to Dicks in a day or two.
Fall in love with the fv sr and tacticool stock after watching this video. One question, after switching to the tacticool stock, is it still best to use low or extra low scope ring?
That is still my preference. The thing about rimfire rings is that sometimes you need to try a few heights to find what you like, but I always mount my scopes as low to the bore as possible to minimize the impact that distance has on POA.
Hi TWANGNBANG, would you consider selling the old stock of this (Savage Mark II FV-SR) ?, I’m in need of one, my old stock was burnt by campfire by accident. Thanks, Justin
+John Smith It's not manufactured anymore. I'd recommend the Dead Air Mask HD instead- it's even quieter and you can take it apart to clean it. ua-cam.com/video/olgOjusBWeY/v-deo.html
There are many pics you can find of that showing why the FV-SR is so popular. I have this for quietly shooting in my backyard at 25yds with cheap ammo. :)
Zach Paladino Don't know about the barrel, but that price is $100 more than you needed to pay. The best thing to do is to call Savage with your serial number, and they will be able to help you.
It sure would be nice to be able to buy 22 ammo again. I have shied away from a 22 firearm purchase until this drought is over. The last thing I will do is dig into my storage when I see this shortage has now lasted a year. One can buy a reasonable priced rifle in the Russian cf calibers with the ammo coming down to almost pre-embargo prices. Funny how the ammo manufacturers swear they are delivering 22lr in ever increasing quantities to every distributor at only a 7% increase since the shortage began. The distributors claim they aren't getting any and the big retailers claim they are getting severely limited supplies and mark them upwards to 1000% more than the manufacturers are claiming to sell their product. However based on this review, I would buy this Savage in a heartbeat otherwise.
I have a large stock of 22LR that I got at the very beginning of the ammo crisis, and I feel comfortable shooting as much as I want. That said, it doesn't make any sense buying a firearm you can't get ammo for. Hopefully, things will turn around for us all soon.
I thought I was well stocked too but the combination of youth programs, the Explorers and Boy Scouts at our private range have ate into my shootin ammo, well at least 22. Even our Sheriff can't come by the 22 ammo that is needed and we have about started stepping on toes continuing to ask for donations. It is amazing considering we host not only regional matches but our state championships as well and that doesn't help.
Quite the opposite as free floated stocks are extremely rigid by design. The barrel is what is floating, removing any pressure that could interfere with its harmonics when shot.
I have a 10/22, i'm not seeing a reason for a 22 bolt gun when the semi is, or can be made, just as accurate as a bolt gun. Yet I have the ability to have better mags and round capacity of up to 25rds. Thank you!
10/22s are great, but you aren't going to get one this accurate for under $250. Just add the price of a user adjustable trigger and Picatinny scope rail to the base price of a 10/22 to see what I mean.
+TWANGnBANG Hey just to let ya know, I know you were waiting for this update :D, I just got this gun but in a 17hmr. 93r17 FVSR. Need to get the threads machined down a bit for the sparrow to not be threaded on too much. Sparrow is for a .400 thread length versus the savage .470 thread length. Did you have an issue with this?
in a gun cabinet with 14 rifles and shotguns of all calibers you can imagine, this is the most fun one to shoot of them all. love my savage
This and the m64 are perfect for most plinking and the mk2 is a great can host.
thanks for keeping this older content. I am looking at the MK II and this review helped

I picked up a marlin XT22 TR, a while ago, what pushed me to Marlin was the tube feed instead of the magazine fed, for great capacity using 22 shorts.
I also have an old Marlin bolt gun and equally old Marlin autoloader, both with tube mags. Marlins are great guns.
Yay! You finally got around to reviewing my rifle! :) Needless to say, I share your love of the little Savage ... and your disdain for the factory stock. While I'm still working toward upgrades like the Boyd's stock and a suppressor / stamp, it's nice to see what I have to look forward to.

Edward Nigma Glad the review was helpful!
There was no bang in this episode!!!
:)
Thanks for the Savage Review. So many people do overlook Savage as a quality piece. I guess they do not remember the Savage Stevens of long ago that supplied very accurate .22 cal rifles. They still do, folks just forgot or drawn to other models.
There are some really great rifles out there, like CZ. However, for the features and price, you can't beat the FV-SR.
Excellent review! I am anxiously waiting for your review on the Boyds' stock!
i have a 12 ga bolt action shotgun by savage arms. had it about 20 - 25 years. and never has let me down
Savage guns are too often underrated.
Just got mine, still waiting for my swr spectre ll. Love the vids. Keep them coming!
Very nice…..
It's a great rifle, probably second only to the 10/22 on my list of "budget rifles you should own."
Many moons ago I bought a 597 and I've been wishing I got at 10/22 instead since. The 597's a good rifle but the aftermarket support just isn't there.
Отличное видео! Теперь я понимаю как будет смотреться оптический прицел у меня на карабине) Удачи!

@@clayton9136 2012-2017
@@reddirtredbeard5399 I must of just been getting lucky then. Cause i dont remember that.
i used an old fishing rod handle to make my mark 2 f have a larger bolt knob, works great an i kinda wish i got the fv-sr though
Love the Savage fv-sr, I have two of them. Mounted on them are Milllet Trs1's and Silencerco Sparrow suppressors. Nothing but win with this combo.
Sounds like a nice match of parts!
the stock you bought to replace the original actually comesm with a different model called the mk ii tr i have it and its a great stock definitely my favorite squirrel hunting gun but i prefer my bow over my gun
Just picked one up yesterday can't wait to get it in the bench!
Don't be discouraged if it doesn't group at tightly as you want right away. Give it a hundred rounds or so to break it. Let me know how it goes!

Nice little plinker. Wish we could have silencers here in Commie I mean California.
Impressive groups! This video is a perfect compliment to your Mueller APV Scope Review. Can't wait for part III to see the Boyds Stock.
It might be a month or so. I have a few things piling up that I need to get done first.
I just got the markII fv-sr and I love it!

Yeah, not a fan of the TRR-SR's rail or extra barrel length. That's why I went with the FV-SR and a separate Boyd's stock.
I saw these for sale at Cabelas for $170 a few years ago. Seems like a great gun.
Great video
Great vid sir!
Excellent as always. Keep it up, sir! Like.
I totally agree it’s alot of product for it’s price tag
Noob question. You said the first thing you should do is take it off clean the threads and apply thread locker. What were you referring to?
savage sells the mark ll with a good stock it is the mark ll TR I have the 22" but it also comes with a threaded barrel.
I have a E-Z fix for the comb height problem if you don't want the weight issue with the boyd tacticool stock. Thanks for the vid you sold me on it .
theKAHUNA144 Many people buy univeral cheek risers and drill the stock for the hardware.
It should be just the ticket for this rifle.
Great! Looking forward to seeing the Boyds Tacticool stock fitted - be sure to make a video on that, please!
All the best, Rob
That is exactly my plan.
Thanks for the thorough review. I bought one recently. I was wondering what bipod you are using.
What was your 'break in procedure' for the barrel? Or was this just the barrel becoming more accurate after a certain number of rounds?
No formal break-in, thank goodness. I just shot it knowing that these tend to take a few hundred rounds to reach their potential. After that, I've seen no changes in accuracy, either way.
It wasn't horrible to start, but it did cut about 50% off the size of my initial groups.
TWANGnBANG Great! Thanks for the reply!
Great review man ready to see it with the new stock
Might be a few weeks.
Great little gun. Have you tried a quality air rifle. That is what I now use to deal with squirrels.
All that's on my list is now a sound suppressor for that rifle :-)
Lots of great choices out there for that.
Which rings did you use with your factory picatinny rail?
Hey, when are you planning on posting the video with the Boyds stock? I picked up the FV-SR with all the same peripherals after seeing your video. I've fallen in love with it but I'm thinking about the Tacticool stock and just want to see a good review first.
I love this 22. I wish I had one. It would make me very happy
Euro Power Tools It's a great rifle.
TWANGnBANG Please keep posting your vids, I'm addicted. I've seen them all. You are so cool I got chills. A real pro at work. Total respect
I own the savage fv-sr and its a GREAT, accurate, reliable, affordable .22. What more could you ask for?
Oyster mushrooms behind you!
Great review. Great rifle. Hope to find one someday.
Waiting for Boyd stock upgrade video.
What scope rings do you have on your rifle?
Silencer Addiction!!!
Exactly! That was the first video I did for this channel, BTW.
Nice video - like them Savage rifles! What kind of silencer you running and where did you purchase it from?
Joe Reeser It's an original AAC Pilot, and it came free with my 762-SDN-6 from a dealer that I don't think is still in the business. Check out silencershop.com if you're interested in silencers.
Thanks for the info!
@TheNodean
The screws holding the picatinny rail, they come loose
savage has addressed that issue. ..
Have you tried shooting supers out of your can? Is it any quieter? Thanks!
Jamaljackson Silencers can only quieten the sound of the gasses that propel a bullet, but they cannot do anything about the sound a bullet makes as it flies through the air. Supersonic bullets create a sonic boom that is responsible for the crack that you can hear from very far away. A silencer does make shooting supersonic ammo much quieter to the shooter, but to an observer, the effect of a silencer on the sound created by a supersonic round is less and less the greater the distance.
what will it do at the hundred, we shoot are red riders at twenty yards in cub scouts.
To solve your cheek weld problems , check out The Leatherman's line of Accu-riser cheek risers. They have a couple of models that fit the Savage MkII FV-SR perfectly. www.accu-riser.com .
Dang you! I went to that site, and now I want one of those leather belt bags, a leather rifle sling, and the leather cheek riser! $$$$
Be sure to get the D.I.P. bottom metal for the new stock :)
Already have all the needed hardware. Boyd's now sells DIP hardware so you don't have to get all you need from two different places.
That is an awesome gun I might have to get it
tyler hammonds You won't regret it, especially when paired with a Mueller and a Boyd's Tacticool stock.
I have a savage mark II but the barrel isn't threaded.
Is it possible to get a MK II with iron sights? All the ones I have seen are naked.
@watch?v=DrintWN43jc
That said, this is the kit I'd recommend, and they say it should ship within 30 days:
www.diproductsinc.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1038843&CAT=8796
Thanks - Frank
froy7106 Glad you got the FVSR for a great price. I don't remember which brand rings I used, and they aren't marked.
I probably missed it. What silencer are you using on this Savage rifle?
Jared Tuttle AAC Pilot
Thank you; I am already subscribed and clicked the like button. You mean there are other videos on UA-cam that are not firearms related? Just kidding.
Thanks for the support!
Do you feel the laminated wood stock is any better than the factory one shown in your video?
Great video. Thanks! Are you sure you are using cci standard? Looks and sounds like cci quiet subs
Jamaljackson Yes, I can read. :) CCI SV is subsonic out of 16" barrels.
How loud is this gun? Would friends need to wear ear protection as they watch me shoot?
+Michael Ju Not with the subsonic ammo and a silencer as demonstrated in this video.
+TWANGnBANG
What specific ammo and silencer did you use in this video?
Michael Ju CCI SV and an AAC Pilot, but any subsonic ammo and modern rimfire silencer will sound the same.
+TWANGnBANG Thanks very much!
My girlfriend and I are about ready to enter the target practice market but we'd like a wood stock. Is that possible in this model?
+Pete Sessa Not from the factory, but you can buy an aftermarket stock from Boyd's Gunstocks to swap out really easily.
That damn smile
It looks like a cool looking BB gun with no sound
Nice im actually lookin to get a new 22 and i think i just found it
This and the Ruger 10/22 Takedown are the top two 22LR rifles on my list of recommendations.
TWANGnBANG I love my 10/22 takedown. If I'm not mistaken they have recently added the option to get a threaded barrel on that as well?
Has anyone glass bedded the factory stock on this model rifle? Does anyone know were I can find a how to video?
Fall in love with the fv sr and tacticool stock after watching this video. One question, after switching to the tacticool stock, is it still best to use low or extra low scope ring?
That is still my preference. The thing about rimfire rings is that sometimes you need to try a few heights to find what you like, but I always mount my scopes as low to the bore as possible to minimize the impact that distance has on POA.
Hi TWANGNBANG, would you consider selling the old stock of this (Savage Mark II FV-SR) ?, I’m in need of one, my old stock was burnt by campfire by accident. Thanks, Justin
twangnbang, what suppressor is on your rifle? i'm very impressed with it and want one of my own!
+John Smith It's not manufactured anymore. I'd recommend the Dead Air Mask HD instead- it's even quieter and you can take it apart to clean it.
ua-cam.com/video/olgOjusBWeY/v-deo.html
Thank you!
Do you use a thread spacer for the suppressor?
What brand of suppressor were you using?
AAC Pilot.
Where did you get the silincer from
i am very happy for you if you find CCI ammo cheap 22's lol
My delivered price was 6 cents per round from sgammo. Compare that to the cost of match ammo from any manufacturer, and yes, CCI SV is cheap.
let's see 100 yard groups with match ammo!
There are many pics you can find of that showing why the FV-SR is so popular. I have this for quietly shooting in my backyard at 25yds with cheap ammo. :)
Hey T&B. Just scooped this bad boy last night. $350. My only concern is the barrel isn't fluted. Is that a factory mishap or is it just a 1st Gen?!,
Zach Paladino Don't know about the barrel, but that price is $100 more than you needed to pay.
What is supposed to be the advantage of a "free-floating" stock? It seems to me that it would be unstable.
Quite the opposite as free floated stocks are extremely rigid by design. The barrel is what is floating, removing any pressure that could interfere with its harmonics when shot.
You make great videos. Shared on my Google +
Thanks for your support!
What suppressor was that
What kind of ammo does your gun eat the best thank you.
CCI Standard Velocity is my goto 22LR. Subsonic out of a 16" barrel, plus near match grade accuracy.
TWANGnBANG
aww ok, i see now. Thanks for the reply!
TexasRedneck Get a spacer instead. Much cheaper and you won't mess up the threads for other cans.
What bipod is that?
Harris BRM. If you plan to shoot off the ground, I recommend stepping up to the swivel version.
