I have a standard MKII Savage, the rifle is extremely accurate. I can't imagine the accuracy of the Savage target rifles. It is hard to beat savage firearms for the price.
My daughter has the mark II BTVS and out of the box it shot .3" groups at 50 yards, some groups much better. Savages are all stiff at the start, de-greasing and oiling made it much much much better, smoothest and crispest we have.
Highly recommend using hoppes #9 cleaning solvent and clean the chamber well with a brush and mop if you are having ejection issues. My MK2 had less than 200 rounds and started having ejection issues and I cleaned it, savage sent me new ejector parts same ejection issue. I deep cleaned the chamber and clean it well after every range day and haven’t had any issues since.
So excited! I had this rifle about 11 years ago and got rid of it and I have regretted it ever since. My local gun store should have it by the end of this week. Both are the stainless model with the thumbhole stock. Nice shooting!
That gun is so sweet, i got 2, 1 in ss, my pb 5 shot group .323 at 100 yds. None over 1" at 100, so slow down to get better groups. Failure to eject usually comes from a slow bolt pull. Ive got only one gun that shoots better and thats a .223 m77 ruger in ss even has sporter barrel. Pb on that rifle is .370 @ 350 yds. Shoots "3/8 @ 100 all day, all hand loads worked up over a couple of months...
The Marlin XT is a very good gun also ! I shoot dime sized groups with both rifles at 50 yards! I have the savage in the video also ! Only difference is my marlin don’t have a target barrel ! The marlin after putting the boyds stock was about 100 and change cheaper than the savage !
i have one ,200 yards is easy and it will go to 300 ..just learn to work the bolt like a man not like this puss ..17 hmr not quite as accurate as they are going 2550-2650 fps with the 17 grain ..not like the 22lr 36-40 grain at 1080 ..the h.p. will hang up feeding sometimes but the poly tip feeds 100 % ..cost more then 22lr but you feel like your shooting a real cal. the crack sound is like a center fire ..
I have a savage bolt action .22, nice rifle. I just have iron sights. I have a classic, a lee Enfield and that .303 British round really barks. I need to work on my shooting skills
I scoped it out to 6x24x50 on my btvss and bypods ,I use my for hunting foxes freal cats rabbits , I find btvss a good rifle the ammo I use Hornsby 22magnum ammoAnd cci maxi mag , I would like to do a different stock the boyds thumb hole stock is a nice stock , I want to know iff there's Stock in a perision rifle stock for the btvss like the ruger precision rifle.
These rifles are known for failure to extract/eject. Savage sent me parts twice to "fix" mine and it did not work. The problem usually ends up being a rough chamber and the gun will have to be returned for repair.
this one is owned by my best friend, im not sure where he got it from. often ill buy from Dantes though, they ahve good customer service and always have the best prices from what ive seen. are you in the area?
i would always recomend the Stainless over blued all day. the MArk2 is tried and true where the b22 precision still has work to do. i just got my b22 back from savage and looks like the issue is resolved although i have yet to shoot it i will keep you updated
i didint even check i while I was editing the footage i realised it look really good lol. and i wasnt aiming for a specipic point on the plate i was holding off the left side by about 2 inches or so. this rifle really is quite impressive. its a shame generally my rifle i buy new are lemons haha ( this was a friend of mines rifle)
Thanks Bawi, yeah i have no idea what they were thinking! Lol at least with new series the b22 and the a22 its self explanatory (b for bolt action) and a for automoatic
The model names are acronyms . I for example have a "BTVLSS" which means that my rifle is a "BOYDS THUMBHOLE VARMINT LEFTHAND STAINLESS STEEL". Our presenter here is shooting a BTV "BOYDS THUMBHOLE VARMINT" model . Sorry I can't help you with the other models .
@@knokname6466 Thanks for the heads up on that . I got my information from a review I read somewhere . It made sense since it has a Boyd's "Thumbhole Varmint" stock on it . But the manual is the official source of information . I hope your rifle shoots as well as mine . Love the rifle . Good shooting to you .
My Savage BTVS in 22LR came with very poor craftsmanship. Although the outside of the Boyd's stock was "okay", the inside below the barrel wasn't even sanded, leaving numerous splinters over half an inch long, which can be seen but not sanded without removing the barrel. The barrel and action appear okay visibly, but the trigger guard looks like something you'd find on dollar store toy gun. NOT what I expected for a rifle over five hundred dollars.
uhgg i dislike my savage mark ii-F nothing seems to work well past 10-15 yards, only thing i like about it is the trigger is nice and crisp, best group i got was eley clubs at 15 yards .5 inch... ill just keep it to blast milk jugs for fun otherwise my crosman break barrel airguns have far superior accuracy - when i first bought it i had fail to eject, would need pliers to take out the empty brass nowadays it runs smooth, I try my relatives CZ and browning and absolutely like them alot tons of accuracy compared to mine :(
hi Silverchain, you might have a burr in the barrel based on what your saying, Id recommend talking it in for a checkup. typically Savages shoot great,

I have an MKII BTV and use if for50 yds Benchrest in custom class . Won the Alabama USBR state match with it.
Just bought one today with a custom barrel can't wait till I get it on the range
Just picked mine up for $299! Stoked to go pick it up tomorrow :)
I just ordered one of these today

nice I preffer the stainless, somehow all my blued rifles tend to get little spots of rust, thanks Metlowe!

Yes, they are very accurate. My 93 BTVS in 22wmr is incredible.
Good interesting video. And great shooting! Take care.
Thanks bobcat! Yeah this rifle was quite impressive
HELL of a group at 150m on the small gong!!!!
That was a hell of a group at 150
Thanks. Please do more 22lr reviews. 👍
Weve got lots more coming!
i have the same gun but in gray laminate. it has never jammed or not spit out a spent shell. Just love me plinker.
I have a trr-sr and have never had a feeding problem never. My bolt feels like it runs in greased ballbearings.
Can you make a marlin xt .22 vs savage mk ii video, I think it would be helpful as these rifles are around the same price.
Great idea, i have a lot scheduled for the next few months but after that i can look into it

I've had two, that both liked eley club. 1 to 1.5 groups at 100 meters
i get those groups at 10-20 yards :( savage markii F
I’m trying to get one of these guns
Agreed.....cheers
I just ordered my BRJ
Wha are you using for a scope ? Looking at the Savage Mark II FVXP rifle for small game and target. Thanks for the review.
I was using a Vector optic. depending on your price point check out the Element Helix FFP
*Nice video!!!! I'm interested in the savage ,17HMR !!!!*
you know i have never even shot a 17 hmr lol. there just so much more expensive to shoot

I suppose the 5 round magazine is just swell for squirrel hunting. I like the rifle.

Where’d you get it from? Not on Cabela’s or dantes😥

Affordable Optics and Rifle Reviews yea man, I’m the guy who bought the 10/22 off you
What ammo did you use in your testing?
Also what optic are you using?
hi i was using CCi standard velocity, anf the optic was the Vector hugo 4-16 is i recall correcyly
Between this rifle (or the stainless variant) and the B22 precision, which one would you recommend?
i would always recomend the Stainless over blued all day. the MArk2 is tried and true where the b22 precision still has work to do. i just got my b22 back from savage and looks like the issue is resolved although i have yet to shoot it i will keep you updated
What was that group size on the little plate... looked petty good

@@christopherdaigle4371 haha yeah that where i figured my wind hold (or might have been because scope wasnt perfeclty level)

BTV: Bull Target Varmint, SS= stainless steel... at least, that's what the booklet/manual on mine says.

It ejects quicker if you pull the bolt back quicker it takes a bit of getting used yo
Could you blokes use good ammo.. Target to show us how the best a gun can shoot...
Verygood

Until you need one tiny part. 😕
not in Canada their service is fantastic, they have a factory in Lakefeild Ontario
learn to work the bolt all the way back and with a mans pull ..no ejection its no extraction
Hey! Don’t forget that Jesus Christ loves you and he died for you have a blessed day❤️
The only bad thing about those rifles are the magazines...terrible!
really? i find them very reliable, i have never had an issue. what problems were you having ?
