I am starting NRL22 this year and have built a 10/22 with a target barrel. I did extensive ammo testing with CCI, Norma, Eley, Sk and Lapua (not any of the high end stuff), and I weigh out my ammo and have noticed that with my weighing out the ammo, I had much better results with CCI-SV and Norma TAC-22. I have found in most cases, weighing them out gets rid of your flyers and your under powered shells. This has improved my target consistency greatly. I do believe that TAC-22 and CCI-SV are great budget ammo and for me do very well. Keep up the GREAT videos, enjoying the series.
Great video, great rifle. Too bad I'm late to the game, so I apologize if you already posted a build list. Thank you in advance for your help. Much appreciated 🇺🇲
Dad bought one of these to compete shooting small metel. He passed now i have a mark 2 with an aftermarket wood stock. Prints great. Mags sucked way back when. Need to try some newer ones again i reckon. Wasnt impressed when it came out. Was incredible price excluded but the darn feeding issues because the old mags were upsetting. Need to order some new ones.
Would have loved to see this as to videos. Upgrade to chassis and shoot. Then upgrade optics and shoot. By doing it as one video we don't know what the improvement was; all chassis, all optics, a little of each, etc.
im interested in this gun not just because the cheap price but, its one of the only ones that comes in left handed bolt, and the tikka and cz are impossible to find in stock left hand, but none of the chassis made for the savage offer a left handed version, it really mf sucks being left eye dominant
@@midwest_long_range oh okay cool I never even noticed, can I ask do you think I’ll be fine with a right handed gun? I’ve never ran a bolt action before is why I ask, I know shooting off a bench is fine but I would like to be able to do some standing shooting as well, is it really that big of a deal in your opinion?
@@coal_tactical it hasn’t been a huge deal for me but I have decent control of my left eye and being able to completely shut it while shooting but I’ve spent my life shooting right handed..
Hey Chris...another great .22lr video. I shoot benchrest....so just out of interest I scored both your targets the same way....giving your the benefit of the doubt hitting the wrong targets but still counting them just for accuracy sakes. Its not exact of course as its hard to see in the video. But I scored your first video at 211 and this one at 224. Like I said...not exact...but I didn't the builds were that far apart (164) in the first. I might be way off the mark as well :).... Keep up the great video's.
I haven't had much luck with the Norma, but some people have. I would like to see how Midas+ would do. It does real well in my Begara. But iam sure it has not worked for some. Thanks for the video!!
When you shoot off a bipod and change targets you have to move your hips otherwise you throw natural point of aim. Even on 22 you’ll see your reticle bounce laterally instead of up and down
I must of over looked the budget part of the video I just saw the part where you put a 500+ dollar stock and a 500+ dollar scope on a 250 dollar rifle idk but for 1250 dollar rifle that mf'er better lobb rocks through the same hole at 100yrds but I'm just gonna assume your a millionaire and 1250 bucks for a 22lr I guess would definitely be "budget" but like the rest of the population I don't fall into the 1250 dollar budget group since if I had the cash to drop that kinda dime on a 250 dollar plinker I'd definitely be able to buy an anschultz or other competition rifle built from the ground up with the tightest tolerances possible instead of putting high end shit on a mass produced bargain plinker. Just sayin'
Considering that the price cap for NRL22 base class is $1200 (not that this conforms to base anymore due to the aftermarket chassis) for just a rifle and a scope, this is in fact definitely a budget build for precision .22 LR.
Well, I gotta tell ya. Nice stock and scope. But you call it a build. Bolting on a sock and scope is not in any manner of the word a build. Budget or otherwise.
Honestly, this groups are terrible for 50yards and all this money wasted... even if called "budget". I have yet to see a savage shooting decent groups, cus up to now all were disappointments like in the video. With all those goodies you cant change a shitty gun - shitty system, shitty trigger, shitty cheap barrel. Stock CZ and Bergara shoot those groups at 100 yards.
Loving this series so far! Can't wait for the finding ammo part
Nice series on the MKII, not everyone can afford a $5K 22lr............ this may not be the top shelf
but a lot of fun !!

Thanks for watching!
It's a .22 c'mon man. At 50 yds , you're not really pushing it.
If at all possible, please do something like this for the Ruger precision rimfire.
Great video, great rifle. Too bad I'm late to the game, so I apologize if you already posted a build list. Thank you in advance for your help. Much appreciated 🇺🇲
Savage mark II, oryx chassis, Arken ep5 5-25x50
I like this series. I’m looking to do a Savage build for a youth loaner gun. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks for watching I appreciate it
Thanks buddy. So many other videos with 20 K $ competition gear set up ... No everyone is JP Morgan .
I think I'm going to pull the trigger and get this chassis system for my savage 93 22mag! Looks like a solid chassis! And built well.
Chalk up another one waiting for the ammo test video!😂 awesome looking rifle! Keep posting the good content man🤌👍

This video is exactly what I was looking for thank you
Thank you!
I prefer the horizontal forend grip and that chassis has it.
Any chance the scope may be contacting the barrel. Looks close
It’s close but no contact

Great build ! chassis cost 2x than the rifle LOL
I THINK IT'S TIME FOR TESTING DIFFERENT AMMO, THIS SAVAGE WILL DEFINITELY WILL SHOW YOU HOW ACCURATE IT IS, ONCE YOU FEED IT THE AMMO IT LIKES.

I am also left eye dominate, so I am at a bit of a disadvantage but I understand your pain. Thanks for watching the channel.

Wonder how it would run with eley match or lapua
My savage loves eley match. Was just popping a 6" at 300 yards with both eley club and match.
where can we get those targets from your shooting at. I'd love to print some of those out to put actual numbers to my rig

Love the detail! Why did you go with a 30MOA rail for the scope mount?
So I can engage targets out to 300 yards
Is there a semi auto version of this Savage rifle
Try sk pistol match in the savage. Mine likes it.
I haven't had much luck with the Norma, but some people have. I would like to see how Midas+ would do. It does real well in my Begara. But iam sure it has not worked for some. Thanks for the video!!
I’ll see if I can find some, thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Looks great 👍
Never tried that scope yet. I don't have tons of money have the Venom but would like to try this. Good video nice shooting 👍 new subscriber
Part 3? 😊
What is the name of that camera / mount you're recording with through scope? Thank you.
Is that barrel an upgrade- trying to find a savage with that barrel ---
That is a factory Savage mark ii TR barrel
I really appreciate your videos. You’ve inspired me to build an almost identical rifle. May I ask what scope rings you are using? Thanks!
Those are the Arken rings
Good stuff I think you will need to find a ammo it likes
What height rings are you using? I am doing a similar build and I am stuck between the low or medium Arken rings. Thanks in advance.
Can't find that target you are using.
what target is that im clicking the links and not seeing it?
can you give link to chassis please? i am looking for chassis and it shows mark ii but not sure if it is the correct one
When you shoot off a bipod and change targets you have to move your hips otherwise you throw natural point of aim. Even on 22 you’ll see your reticle bounce laterally instead of up and down
What model Savage and complete barrel size??
will chassis fit a savage model 93 22 mag
Is this based on the savage 25745? How do you like the action I feel like there is a lot of m9ving mass upon firing
Try shooting cci green tag and sk pistol
Prayers for your family and can't wait for part 3 on this gun
💛🖤
Not really a budget build once you add all those upgrades. Especially that Oryx.
I think all you really tested was the ammo.
If you slowed down about 5 seconds per shot 90% of those would have been on center
save all your targets, you are +34 points so far
So not a build just a modular swap. Mine shoots just as bad
How to make a $200 rifle into a $2000 rifle

Go find the Anschutz for that price that is ready to go to a PRS or NRL match. You obviously have no idea how much those rifles cost.
Sometimes when I haven’t had anything to eat in a while I get a little cranky.
I'll be doing a budget build for real average people soon. I'll post it.
Considering that the price cap for NRL22 base class is $1200 (not that this conforms to base anymore due to the aftermarket chassis) for just a rifle and a scope, this is in fact definitely a budget build for precision .22 LR.

I would certainly not be happy with that performance.
All that money, and it still doesn't shoot as well as a bone stock MK2..
Honestly, this groups are terrible for 50yards and all this money wasted... even if called "budget".
