- This wraps up the little camper conversion series. It's been a fun little project over the last 14 or so months. It towed just fine today and handled highway speeds without any issues.
Thanks for taking a look! - Навчання та стиль
This series of videos has been a great inspiration. Thank you!
Hi Taz. Thanks! It's been a fun project.
Thank you so much for the inspiring videos. You have done what I was thinking and pondering about as I just acquired a base of a popup trailer for cheap. Now its time to get building! I will share some photos when I am done with my project. Once again thanks for the inspiration and I think you build looks awesome and cozy! Cheers!
You are doing great. Such a great work. Still have to watch some videos.
Once I found your videos last night, I continued with them until today so I could finish them. I decided to forego the Commanders game to complete your films. In two words, "fantastic job". Thanks for doing what I have wanted to do for some time. I've watched you easily solve some problems that I may have if I can do one as well. Thanks for posting and sharing. Regards.
Thank you for your comments. It was a fun project. Best of luck to you.
@@drez20001 I wondered if u caulked the inside panels at the bottom and decided not to insulate? Do the original tires handle the heavier camper 4 long travel at highway speeds? Ths!
Those hubcaps on the trailer look really nice
Congrats on completing your camper. I've enjoyed following it online. Now go enjoy it!! It's a beauty.
I gotta ask. Did you register it as home made? and, did you have to weigh it in order to register?
Here in NY, our DMV can be snarly. thanks JIM WT2W
Hi James. Thank you. That's the plan!
@@jamesmeyer9563 It's just the same registration as it was when it was a pop up. The weight is close to where it was before actually (the roof, pull outs front and back, crank up posts, and all of that canvas was pretty heavy).
@@drez20001 Great... If you look me up on QRZ you'll a photo of my planned build. I'm having fun. 5x10 with 3/4" insulated floor, done. Strictly Boondock, no shore power.
So cool man. Great job!
You did a great job I have been watching your channel for a long time since way back when you were doing cnc!! keep it up!!
Thanks Matt! I hope to get back to some CNC stuff soon.
Did you ever put in the air conditioner in ? This was a beautiful make over you did and gave me something to think about with my pop up!
This is inspiring! Ill build one just like yours.!
I'm deeply envious of your garage/shop
Yeah, that space was a joy. It wasn't mine, it belonged to a family member and I got to use it for a few years. Not anymore though.
Yeah man, I have just got one just like yours. Before I had seen your last video, I pretty well already set mind to it.I live out here at the holtville , hot springs, in calif. Wright by Yuma Az. And calexico ca. Anyways, I hope it goes good for me. Thx. Danny m.
Oh please post video from campsite! Congrats! Looks lovely!
Thanks! It's been fun.
Very nice job
Just now found all these videos...great job. I was wondering how much does the finished project weight? I've thought of doing something like this with lighter material to pull with my new Ford Maverick Hybrid..but can only pull max 2000 pounds, Thanks
I too am planning something similar and like you, I need it lightweight because I plan on buying a Maverick hybrid. I was gifted a pop-up that's already been gutted so I am starting with a very bare unit. Good luck with yours.
How does it haul going down the highway? No issues
How does it tow my conversion feels unstable did you do anything to make it ride better
How many 2x4s did you end up using how many sheets of plywood I'm currently renovating or attempting to renovate and buy renovate I mean build a solid camper like you just did general idea would be good mine however was a 77 starcraft pop-up camper I think it's a 5x16 16x5 I mean
How much does it weight now? And how much did the materials cost?
What did you use for side how much did it cost
I am getting ready to convert a pop-up to a hard side and I was wondering how well your camper did not the road. Is it still going? Would love an update. :)
It was a fun project I did mostly during the lockdown period. As to be expected it was not great on the road but didn't scare me. I put it at a local campground and used it for a year or two. It's still there but not being used. Best of luck on your project.
Did I miss the bed 🛌😴??
If you was going to sell it what price would you? I have one I am thinking of selling out don't have an idea of what price to put
I had my pop-up weighed after I stripped it down and I'm trying to stay under 2000 lbs. How much does yours weigh?
This build was under 1,000 pounds.
How much does it weigh?
How Did it pull going down the highway?
Not great, as I expected. It was moved to a small campground and set up for seasonal use.
has this been approved by DOT? I would say you've probably exceeded the legal axle weight for a frame intended to carry canvas, fibreglass and foam, not glass and wood. Might seem fine now but it''s going to be a sad day if someone is hurt when the suspension fails
