The unit is still a pop up camper even though it’s hard side. I didn’t change the frame, axle, or tongue so it wouldn’t need reinspection. It’s a lot like renovating a home. As long as the original structure and footprint is there, no permission is needed. Or at least I don’t ask for it. Thank you for the compliment and go out there and build the thing you see in your mind. I’m sure it’ll be great. Lastly, video document it. This series is my most viewed of any videos so there is interest out there.
I've been thinking about it for several years I just haven't gotten around to actually doing it but now I have funding to be able to so I'm in the market to find a pop-up to start
Thanks! It tows easy behind my Excursion. Now I know it’s estimated 1600 weight is nothing for my V10 to tow, but I think a car could easily do it. The balance is so good that the tongue weight is light. My wife can effortlessly lift it with one hand off the ground. I posted a short of it on my channel. Doesn’t sway or lean hard on turns. I’m happy with it. It cost $1600 in material to convert it to our set up. The 240v 50amp electric panel and cord are overkill and that could have shaved some cost off by keeping the 35amp 120v system.
Absolutely! You should document your build and post it. My first vid has 12k views since September of 22. There is definitely interest and I’ve never seen an ice fishing one.
We have repurposed it to be a mobile office. It could be slept in with a mattress or sleeping bag, but we didn’t want to use it for camping. Now if you wanted to build beds, frames could be done on the walls and folded up when not sleeping.
We had plans for them but all the companies we checked that sold the shed style windows were all out of stock. It would be easy to put them in if purchased in the future.
After doing all that work to that were you still able to register it under the original title or did you have to do some sort of a homemade title
I'm thinking about doing something similar to this myself just wondering if it's still able to register as the original unit
I do like what you did with it though it looks very nice

@@jamesthornton-ei9fc go for it James! Look for a good roof and floor. The rest gets junked when hard siding.
That is cool my friend.
Thank you so much!

No windows, needs windows
