Thanks so much for posting this. I sure wish I had seen it sooner before I chased down some rabbit holes. Your video led me right to the problem, which ended up being a PTO safety switch. Thanks again, and I hope you have a blessed day sir.
Glad to be of help. Thank you for commenting.
Great tips Eddie, That is good to know where those switches are located. So many safety features but they are needed. Known a few people that have been run over by their tractors. Some didn't make it. One guy was killed on a Mahindra. He had farmed all his life. He was found run over so no one knows what actually happened. His brother thought it was because he was used to having the parking brake on the right side on all his other tractors but on that one it was on the left and he might have knocked it out getting off the tractor. The tractor had just rolled a ways off and was still idling when they found him. But no one really knows. Thanks again and take care.
Yes Sir. Mr. Gary, Safety switches can save a life but at the same time they can make you pull your hair out. LOL
You just saved me a trip and a whole bunch of money. Thank you so much for posting this. You have helped me with this and you helped with my transmission oil change. cheers to doing it yourself and just know a lot of people are thankful for these videos even though you probably won’t know most times you helped.
Glad to be of help my friend and thank you much for commenting.
Appreciate you partner! From Los Lunas, New Mexico
Your very welcome and thanks for commenting.

Thanks for the tips. Wish we had more neighbors like you around where we live.
Thanks for dropping in my-friend.
This helped me out. Of all things it was my PTO not in neutral
I've done crazy things like that myself.
Thank you sir! Excellent info!
Thank You!
Thanks for all your help I just wanted to give people a heads up on what I found I went through everything you said I even shorted across the solenoid and got spark but no start so I took the starter to the shop and it was fine I took it home and started cleaning battery post and terminals removed wire from the battery terminal and stripped back some new wire and boom it fired up so just a heads up make sure your battery terminals are clean and your ground is not rusted and corroded
Thanks for that heads up. Things like this can save a person a lot of research time.
The ole cross it at the solenoid trick. Lol. Works every time. Good to see ya my friend.
Hello Mr. Tony🖐 Thanks for dropping in.
Thanks for. You show this just to much safety stuff
Very much so, things could be built way cheaper if without all the safety features.
Nice! And thanks, My 3650 HST is suffering the same thing after a primary hydraulic hose was cut in half. Thanks for the help - gave me good ideas of what to look for.
You're welcome and thanks for commenting. God Bless!
I just learned a lot even though I probably would never own a tractor. The power of great teaching. Thanks my friend. Your videos never fail. 😀
De Gi, this is pretty much the same thing on riding mowers. So you never know it may come in handy someday. Hope everything is all well on your end. Gd Bless!
@@papawsplace okncool. We are all doing well thanks! Hopefully by next summer I would have my own riding mower. Do you have any videos on which one is best?
I sure don't De Gi, but I love the zero turns and my Badboy has been a good one.
Great video
Thank you!
Good info!
Hello Mr. James, hope all is well my brother.
Yes sir. No complaints here. Good to see you as always.
Learned a few months ago about the seat safety switch on my John Deere. When the seat was put back down the safety switch went on the outside of the seat spring making it twist and didn’t connect. I learned that screwdriver trick from my pawpaw too.
I had John Deere that would do the same thing.
I have a Mahindra 2638 4 cylinder 38HP Love it runs great
About the only time I wish I had bigger HP is when I'm bushhogging. The 26HP just not enough when it comes to the PTO HP
Great video sir!! Just found your channel and subscribed. I have a 1626 shuttle shift my buddy has same tractor I've been over there helpin him try to figure out why he has no instrument light nothin comes on but flashers has fire to switch . He blew the dust out from the dash now won't start. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy your tractor
Think you much, Does the tractor turn over at all?
@@papawsplace no only fire it has is to the key switch and flashers. We've checked everything we can think of.
Wish I could help you, but I haven't had that issue yet. If ever thing was fine before blowing the dust out, I would unplug and replug everything I could hoping something just lost connection.
@@papawsplace no problem. Thanks for the comeback. I'm sure it's got be somethin simple cause he used it bushhoggin bout hour before.
I’m a Horseshoer. If I lived closer, we’d throw that bracket in the forge and show it how to straighten up & fly right 👍🇺🇸
Hello Mr. Scott, may I ask where you're from?
Hi bud , you outta get you a New tractor and sell me that one , I’am still looking! Good video , glad you got it fixed !
I love this tractor Mr. Bill, I can do that. LOL
Turns out it was the PTO selector. I've got a backhoe on it - so I never even think about the PTO. Thanks.
Glad to be of help. Thanks for commenting. God Bless!
My old JD1050 has just one safety switch, on the hi-lo gear selector. When it gets below about 20 degrees, and the humidity is high(70%+), it kinda freezes up, the result is that it won’t start. I think it’s either stuck in, or stuck out. Can’t tell unless I take the whole thing apart. My solution is to heat it up overnight with the block heater and put a magnetic heater on it too. I ordered a new one just in case it’s burned out.
Freezing weather causes lots of issues.
I have the exact same tractor. What if it still won’t start after you jump the two posts. Does that mean the starter is bad?

When I go to turn off my tractor by the key it won't turn off so I have to use the kill switch just wondering if you might know the reason for that?
Is something wrong with it or is that the way is came new. Some tractors just have the key to kill it and others has the Pull knob / decompression / fuel shut off that has to be pulled to kill them. Why some are one way, and some the other, I really don't know. LOL
@@papawsplace I got it's used so what you said could be the reason you have to shut it off with the kill switch
Yes sir, a lot of tractors are like that, the reason I'm not sure of.
