Amazing nests. Could you make me a small or medium nest? It would be amazing 👍 I keep Messor Barbarus ants, so the exit doors should fit 10mm ID pvc tubing.
the move from the test tube when i fist got them into a bigger one was very stressfull i regret it this move to a bigger nest should go better sadly both workers died one i tried to pick up with tweezers and he died a few days after that he looked in a bad state and the other got stuck in something sticky i tried to use a q tip soaked in water to clean his legs of so the wont stick togeter he died on the qtip the queen lives on and drinks alot of sugar water hasent been out in the foraging box of the thing much i just hope the best for her no clue if those eggs i saw workers take some into the nest so i felt safe throwing it away but they might have moved them back onto the moldy cotton ball before the throw away i also regret that i have made many mistakes but as long as i can provide them with the best life the could live in my care in a non terrarium setup i dont have the room ill have to move the nest location across my room when i get my hedge hog it will live in my closet where it will be darker they are living there currently

The company I bought it off recommended me a nest that was way to big but being the beginner, I went ahead and bought it and the outworld. The queen is in the nest but the workers are still in the tube. It’s been 4 days now which isn’t that long but I have the test tube elevated angled towards the nest with a light on it at all times. The queen is alone which worries me.
Thank you pal! In all honesty I would keep a colony of this size in the test tube. Try and get the Queen to go back in and then pop the test tube in a container. Stick the test tube down with some blu-tak so it doesn’t roll around or put a small amount of soil/sand in the basin. You can feed and nurture your small colony this way until they are ready for the nest :-) If you haven’t already, I recommend feeding them grass seeds. They love them! :-D

Hello. I have a queen aunt with babies in a test tube. I have a gel farm im going to attach the chamber too. How would i get em out to transfer them to a new farm or clean it down the road?
@AntsBritania could I ask for tips? I have a colony of black garden ants on my yard on a tree stump. I give them much credit for keeping the yard clean. I want to keep the colony on my yard, but sadly the tree stump they inhabit must be destroyed. I would not also want to move them anywhere else in my yard. Do you have any tips of removing the tree stump while still keeping the colony active and healthy? One thing I thought about was to remove the stump bit by bit giving them time to dig deeper into the stump. but do you recon this would work? PS. it was surprising that every time I googled "how to move ant colony" and similar the results are all about destroying the colony and not exactly moving them.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to write this comment. Seems like you’re in a pickle there. The only way you can make them move is by creating a less favourable environment for nesting. Like you said, removing the stump bit by bit may be the best option. If you could dig around the stump, uproot it & move it as a whole, that may be better. Let me know how you get on - Cam

I was playing Empires of the Undergrowth and silently wished I had a captive ant colony. The next day now I have a colony of pavement ants bringing all their larva into my window right by my gaming computer. 😅 Was wondering what I could place that they would be interested in moving into?
You are right! But my channel isn't named after the female personification of the isle of Britain. It was simply named "Britania" because it was the first thing that popped into my head when making this channel :-D

I recommend Pheidole Noda. They are very easy to keep when considering tropical ants :-)
