Thank you so much for putting the effort in videos! They are awesome and very helpful. Effort noticed and keep making em
Nordic Ants your vids are also awesome!💪❤
Thanks for watching! Glad you like them :)
I need help finding aac in the USA.
seems to be an antscanada copyright channel hmmmm....
Ants Australia when is the next vid coming out
Why doesn’t this guy have more views he is so helpful and deserves more
The Bandinator agree
Dont know
I completely agree
I love antscanada I hope one they they both meet and I hope he gets at least 1 million subs I mean he deserves it
I dont think Antscanada is the reason at all i think. The biggest problem i think is the fact that ants aint as popular as Prank Videos, Beauty tipss etc. Still Ants are better imo :)
It’s finally here! This’ll be very helpful for many future ant keepers :D
Hey :D
I have a cool design of an ant terrarium i found on youtube, i'm using it for my red fire ants :D. So it is a transparent plastic cup where i've put some earth for the ants to dig-in and some ligth collored sand on the top for better visualisation :D. It is ideal to observer the ants scavenging for food and their little tunnels on the walls of the cup. It's just a founding colony, i'll move them to a much bigger natural setup ;D.
#Antsaustralia
Another awesome video! Great job! I'm currently housing my "Camponotus ligniperdus" colony in a semi-naturalistic setup. They are able to dig on the sides of the terrarium but not in the middle. So I can always see them & and their self-made tunnels! My 2nd colony "Lasius Niger" (Very common in Switzerland) lives in a tubs & tubes setup, but I'm planning to build a AAC-Nest. Or with a little bit of luck I may win one ;-)
Sorry for my bad English and greetings from Switzerland!
Way to go, will have to try this sometime soon! XD
Please do!
Ants Australia do your site ship ants to Romania ?
rares bucsa cf romanule
Hi✌️.
I am housing most of my ants in these AAC-Setups. They all are doing very well.
Just my Pheidole indica Kolonie lives in a concrete-Nest. So they cant‘t breaking out.
Greetings from Germany ;)
I like toads I dont know... but the german ants arnt very cool... If you Look at the Australien species you know, what I mean 😂

This Is so cool pleeeeeaaaaase do more of these!
Nice vid jordan like always! :)
I like that you added blue tac on the edge of the glass it gives it a nice touch
I did this but my queen moved into the hole for them to move through and I can't see them.
im housing in a ytong and acrylic. camponotus is in the acrylic and irydomrmex in the ytong.i really am looking forward to keeping more queens and watching them grow
Your videos are such high quality. Keep up the amazing work. Your shots are clear and focused and the material you cover is succinct and to the point while being extremely full of information. GREAT WORK.
Hi im housing my ant in a huge 14 inch terrarium i also grow some 3 leaf clovers also please say i won because i m only 11 and i love to grow my queen ant
Vu Thi Doan youre 13 now, me too
I wonder how big ur colony is now, if it’s they are still alive
I have an acrylic setup and I have workers but my queen isn't laying anymore eggs
I'm not an ant keeper yet but I really want to become one. I'm planning on getting some AntsCanada nests but now after seeing this video the AAC is much more aesthetically pleasing!
Antscanada nest are also hella expensive
Ant Australia vs ant Canada like if you guys agree.
Ants in a jewelry box / organizer
Clear
I don't have ants yet
Great video! Planning to make my own!
instead of you going to the ant the ant comes to you hahaha!
Please don’t turn into clickbait. You’re my favorite channel
I caught all my ant queens last March and June so I'm still keeping them in test tubes. They actually all started out in syringes since I couldn't find any test tubes. They work just as well if you melt the tip closed with a lighter but after acquiring some test tubes form a pharmacy I have to say it's a lot more aesthetically pleasing. I have four colonies in test tubes but actually until recently I owned five colonies. The fifth one I moved to a jar within a jar setup with sand in between when it reached around ten workers but just a few days ago I accidentally drowned them when I was hydrating them. The water made the sand slip and a cave in happened. It was a Formica cunicularia colony. It hits hard when a stupid mistake ruins months of work but that's life I guess. Anyway my dream setup would be a giant acrylic nest with a large polygynous colony inside of it kind of like your argentine ants's setup.
P.S
Merry Christmas!
Orthodox Christmas that is.
You’re colony is probably massive now
@@theantkid9986 no Ryan everything died like a year ago and I've since stopped ant keeping though I've been considering it again a bit but I'm not sure.
Btw you used the wrong "your" there bud
I can tell this is going to be great ! Amazing work as always Jordan ! Sucks AAC, Ytong, and Hebble aren't available to us keepers in the US. Right now I have colonies only in test tubes, but I have absolutely tons. I do have one colony in a naturalistic setup, and it's Pheidole
Good Choice
Ants Australia Community yes it is :) thanks for the inspiration
I am pretty sure that you can get Ytong at the Home Depot in the US
AntsUSA thanks for the information
Skelten s welcome ? Haha
I nest my rats in a bird cage
Intuitive.
I have several questions.
Not bad
Several questions indeed.
Lol😂
He should earn more money because he can use it to improve his ant farms and he can make his ideas for ants true.
When I saw the video on my feed, it thought AAC stands for Ants Australia Colony.
Same
But does anyone know AC Antscanada
I do
For anyone like me and is not in the EU! And are having trouble finding AAC You can use fire brick which is pretty easy the find near you!
Hello Jordan
Would using play-doh be harmefull for the ants idk if its toxic for them ?
Love the ant nest builds
Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm not 1st, and niether are you!
Moon Seongmu violet is a shade of blue...
[Sp]MBlueS Your both right its like a purply blue colour also I have a new dictionary it will be published ????? (Never)
My only specie is Lasius Flavus. Im curently housing them in test tubes. They are really frendly and They don't bite. I have 6 Lasius Flavus colonies and They are very sucsessful. Im happy where I live Because use the temperature is amazing and you can find queens 24/7. I would REALLY like to win the giveaway because one of my Lasius Flavus colonies is outgrowing my test tube. Good luck to all the contestants!!!
P.S. Great tutorial keep up the amazing work!! I'd like to see more videos like this in the future!!
My current ant colony is housed within a test tube. Since solenopsis ants are rather small (2-3 millimeters) they settle nicely in the humid test tube, which has been covered by the same napkin for around 3 months, ever since the nanitics hatched in August. So far, they are doing very well, with a very large pile of brood and a pretty elusive queen, who I rarely see. They are set to welcome their 4th or 5th generation any day now!
Update: I’ve since added another outworld and placed dirt near their original nest. They have dug quite a bit and constructed a brand new nest, which I believe that they have moved the colony into. It has been fascinating.
Anyone know the name of the Kevin Macleod song playing at 19:30? it’s so cute and joyful!
1 day i was playing on the beach and an ant flew on my sand castle that was the luckiest experience in ant keeping ever.
can you please tell me another kind of bricks i can use that you can find on the street because it is hard to find these acc bricks in my country i love your channel by the way
i am nesting my ants in a natural terrarium.A lot of colonies had died there but i maneged to acomodate one local species .It is an aquarium filled with dirt and some plants made from plastic. #antsaustralia
Where can I purchase ac in the USA? Arizona please answer I have a small colony in need of a house
Dude can I say your videos are by far the best on youtube for ants. Please upload more often. Im tired of the Disney Stories that we recieve every week from antscanada
Dude he just wants stories for us hater. He is overdramatic but at some times he does have good reasons you wouldnt understand
My ants are in a dirt setup and the colony has 12 queens and they are growing like mad and it's a big headed ant colony the colony has male aleets and i am catching queen aleets and they are breading but I stopped catching the natural environment need ants too I live in witbank south Africa I'm 13 and I whant to be a UA-camr
Wow, awesome nests! They look great, too. Will definitely make one when my colony gets big enough!
i have 7 queens and maybe 90 or 80 workers in my tank
he large habitat with vertical slabs on the side and the "park" on the top looks absolutely *BEAUTIFUL!!!!* I can't wait for that video!
really loved this one where you craft a new one! wonder if you could do more videos like this 🙂
Hey, do you know if i can use acrylic paint too or is that harmful for the ant?
No, acrylic paints are non-toxic. This is because they are water-based. They only get toxic when you are sanding a surface, if it is consumed in large amounts, or when the paint is used for airbrushing.
@@mig_da_pig7716 Thanks, helped me a lot!👍🏻
cool FIRST
97% T0X1C roses are red, violets are blue, I’m not the first one neither are you
Hm he is kinda like AntsCanada..Meh maybe its a coincidence🍵

Manic Minecraft NO
I haven't seen anyone with a store that actually teaches how to build nests yet, and I think you're the first. That's what makes you the best in my opinion.
I use a small test tube like vile filled with sand. I am from Florida.
Love your video quality!
I am currently housing my ant colony (Iridomyrmex sp.) in your Ytong Nest Size 01 with a AntsCanada outworld. I have just recently bought this queen and they already have an explosive population of about 50 workers! Something that I realized about the queen is that she really likes her nest extremely humid and warm. Something to say about this colony is that they love their ytong nest because they see to like ridges in the ytong for gripping.
Best of luck to everyone entering the contest!
Lol I got a ant pest control ad before watching this video
I watched this a while ago and always enjoyed it, so I thought I'd come back and watch again
Where to buy those paints? Can I use colors for school maybe?
Even though I don't own any ants yet I find your videos calming and relaxing as I start preparing for my first colony.
No matter how hard I try I can't seem to find AAC ANYWHERE!!!! Anyone know where to find it in Canada?
Hardware stores
In New Zealand we recently just had a couple of nuptial flights. So i am storing my new queen ant in a test tube setup. I think it's a black garden/crazy ant.
Voor jonge nederlanders, Ytong heet hier gasbetonblok en kan je voor een par euro bij de Praxis en Gamma kopen. 60x20x5 cm is de beste
Beddankt makker
I live in Australia. last year I was riding home from school before I got into keeping ants. I saw a a sugar bandit queen ant with its wings of and very thing. I stoped to look at it for about ten seconds then moved on. I regret this now because I really want a colony of sugar bandit ants...rip
I also want to add that I live in the wa so I can't buy ants with meens catching them is the only way I can get them
I found that a tooth brush holder works as a test tube too
I am housing my ants in test tube setups. Some Ants Australia nests and Tarheel ant nests, and a 10 gallon naturalistic dirt setup! XD
These look like some quality nests at some shop😂👌
What camera do you use? Thanks!
Is it just me I watch this vid 10 times a day
Could someone tell me how stable aac is? Because when i lastly saw it, it was really easy to crumble apart
It just feels like a light block of concrete it chips apart easily with tools but you definitely couldn’t snap it. But yeah it would probably break or at least chip if you dropped it from high enough
Hey, great video! im housing my ants in test tubes, gipson, ytong, acrylic and dirt setups. All made for their species. They are all doing great :)
Hi😄
I house my camponotus gigas colony in a 21 inch long terrarium my ants live in a 16 inch long island with clovers and 5 cactus its 10 inches of dirt and 1 cm under the island is fresh water with gravel that i have algea and java moss the creatures who lives in these water are 3 cherry shrimps,5 pom pom crabs and 7 neon tetras
Mikey bustos at antscanada expired me to do this
camponotus gigas? that thing is huge
Amazing DIY enclosures. I might try to keep ants myself ;-P
30th like I love this channel
I’m absolutely making this design for my first queen of camponotus. She’s just got one worker so far, so I’ll wait a bit. But excited to make this in preparation.
I'm doing the same however, my doesn't even have larva yet, just a pile of eggs.
SIC SNAKES how is your queen doing?
michael jordan?
All of your videos have been outstanding. I've always wanted an ant farm growing up, but it was never allowed. I can finally experience owning one while teaching my children, and without the time you've taken to share your invaluable knowledge on it all, I would have never found the courage to do so.
You are a treasure!
Damn looks so good, but in my trash country i cant find this material...
I haven't watched all of Ant Aus' vids yet but I really like his content. I wonder if you can just keep the formicarium small for a small colony.
Yes, you can! It’s better to have a formicarium that’s too small than too large, because if it’s too large, the ants will start dumping their trash in the unused parts of the nest, which might cause harmful mold to grow.
Yes ants like their nest small and cramped so they feel protected. And as another has pointed out mold could grow and harmfull mites could hatch
Did you quit?
If you did that is a bit sad for me. You learned me all about the nests, i didnt really understand the moist things, but after watching your videos i started understanding it. I watch you and antscanada all the time.
Ive been really intrested in ant keeping for the past year, and I even bought a fishtank in hopes of one day having a colony big enough to house in it. My dream setup would be a bunch of aquariums attached together with vinyl tubing, with a giant housing unit where you can see the nest from all sides. Thanks for what you do!
Well, with big nests, I just fill up most of the tunnels to the extra chambers with wet sand, then let it dry. That way, the ants will dig into those chambers on their own as needed when their population expands. For large vertical nests, I use different types of sand and dirt in different colors, to simulate the different soil layers in nature. Sometimes I place colored pebbles, small crystals, and plastic bones as decorations for them to dig around.
Its also important to "seed" the area you designate to be their garbage dump with a bit of their refuse, so they'll automatically pile their garbage there.
And they are doing great in their inviroment and thriving greatly
My dream set up is an acrylic nest set up with a big Messor Barbarus colony hooked up to an outworld or foraging area. And for the outworld to have lots of plant life. I also would love to have a second nest hooked up to it except this one be a y-tong nest. This is my dream ant set up and hopefully it comes true. For I have have a Messor Barbarus colony already!
i am an AntsCanada fan for years now and just HAPPENED to stumble onto this one... oh boy, another high quality ants channel ! And thanks for this guide, i found a camponotus queen and are now looking at future nests, but i hate the whole plastic look so this yton diy seems awesome !
can i use gypsum?
I would keep my ants in Ytong nests. Their outworld would be an aquarium filled with dirt. Maybe I would put some plants inside.
Early comment
Well as soon as i finished watching the video and went for a walk for the first time I saw an ant queen roaming near a nest! I thought of capturing her but unfortunately i had no equipment...
I’m housing my two main colonies, (A 20 worker C.Consobrinus colony, and a 2 worker M.Nigrocincta colony) in a test tube, connected up to an external outworld, which I have built by myself. These ants work well in these setups, as I can cover their tube, while still feeding them, and watching them forage. I’m glad they like this setup, as i used to have the Camponotus is a Size 3 AA nest, but it was too big for them, and they were stressed and unhealthy. When they get bigger, I do plan on moving them back into it, but in due time!
#Ants Australia my dream set up consists of many terrariums connected together by having branches reach from one tank to the other.
The species I would love this for would be leaf cutter ants.
My ants are being housed in an acrylic nest with an acrylic outworld from antkit.
Currently I caught a queen ant about 2 weeks ago and I'm planning on moving her into a desert-like tubs and tubes set up.
My ants are housing in a selfmade ytong nest, they now do much better than in the original testube setup were I first housed them in.
And thanks for this fid, I'm going to make this a 100%💪💪
Very nice video! I realy liked it! :D
A y tongue nest they have settled in so well I got a lot of ants 🐜 I’ve had them for 7 months now I have a huge colony thanks by the way for this help now I’ve got them a huge ant farm thanks to you
Good morning! I like waking up to ant videos. Can you do more of these videos I find them highly fascinating better than ants Canada
Where can u buy acc at if you know plz leave a link
Also is there any alternatives like styrofoam?
Another PTFE ( fluon ) ????
Your videos are always intriguing to watch, thank you for the high quality videos.
My ants are Messor Structur and they a currently in a plaster formicarium hand-made by me! Cheers!
i cant find that paint!! why is it so hard to find
I can’t find it anywhere!!!
My nest is a Ytong nest, I have been trying to make one for ages but I could not think of a way to hydrate the nest so I found this video amazingly helpful and it also gave me loads of extra tips and told me when I did the wrong things! I love this series and keep it going! Hopefully I will maybe win this contest!
My queen has only one worker
How long do a video take to make?
Hi there,
I am housing my irydomyrmex bicknelli collony of about 20 workers in a tub and tubes set up. I have found that they have really enjoyed the distances they can forage and how they really prove that can carry big loads of sand and gravel. But yeah I think they are starting to outgrow the test tube so hopefully when I add my ants Australia size 1 nest they will be really happy, thanks for the video Jordan, also with the formacarium I unscrewed they screws but it made the screw holes bigger so now with the thanks to this video I can solve this with blu tac, goodluck everybody for the contest
Самый лучший формикарий. Это формикарий сделанный своими руками. Отлично получилось у Вас! Спасибо.)
My ant setup is in old drink bottle, even though its not a great setup my argentine ants are adapting well to there new home.
