These are the types of interviews I want to see more people do. Very mellow, right in the artist's environment and with a host that's, at the very least, informed on the topic. Hope to see more. Great job on the music too.
This was truly a great interview and really informative on the history of the franchise that is now TMNT. You guys should do more of these, what I consider nostalgic pop culture hits.
I remember I was like 10, back in 1992, when I first picked up colour print of the original TMNT mirage run, and it just blew me away. I was a fan of the animated show since I was 6, but that as the first time I had seen the Mirage turtles. They ere unlike anything else I was collecting at the time. Before that I had Batman comics and Daredevil comics, but there was a certain rawness to the Mirage turtles that made them endearing. ... and I'm a fan till this day. For me it's Miller, Kirby and Eastman/ Laird whose work I love more and more each time I look at it.
I’m so happy I had a pleasure to meet Kevin Eastman he was one of the nicest artists I’ve ever met. He has one of the biggest heart ever. I mean that. He looked out for me and for a lot of other people that went to see him.
I remember drawing TMNT when I was a kid. I even had a few Turtles growing up. Long to Create from Imagination and can see TMNT in my mind. That might help to Create something new.
I just wanted to say tmnt changed my life not only as a kids I have always loved them and I always will thank you Kevin for some the best memories I have as a child and a grown up
And to think that I had all of the original comics! At least through the early teen numbers. Anyone remember the one offs, not only of Raphael, but all four had one offs. AND there were comics of each turtle demonstrating how to do martial arts! Oh if I could go back in time and save those comics!!!!
I have too meet Kevin, him and Peter made my childhood. TMNT was and is still a huge part of my life. He surely belongs up there next to Jack Kirby....
Nice interview. I’m a big fan of the turtles since back in the 80’s and a few years ago I went out and got issues #1-6 of the 1984 TMNT all first prints. Raphael #1 first Casey Jones and TMNT adventures #1 first bebop and rocksteady. Hopefully 1 day I’ll get them all signed by Kevin Eastman .
You can manifest ideas….my father imparted this early on. Don’t tell me you’re not the coolest thing ever to be created. People have dreams but why when if you just realize what you are. You can achieve what you think. What you can actually do with a brain is amazeballs.
Was a huge fan growing up, I just don't know how they haven't made billiions given that they own the characters. Royalties from the toys alone should have cleared them $50m in the 90s. I wonder whether it was the lack of a savvy agent/manager/lawyer because if there is one thing I am sure about, there are at least 10 people/companies that made more money out of TNMT than the people that own their rights.
Thanks Eastman and Laird for the ninja-fu theater. Only comic I have ever enjoyed. The best part was the shoes. I, and many others, wanted to see it go in a more adult direction--much like the issues in GN #4. I was inspired by this to created an even better (that more ridiculous) group of karate mutants. As a teenager, I did not have a story in mind as I do now. I am not an artist. I suppose I could write it as a short story.
