As a kid, I gave Kevin my horrible half completed mini-comic and he was unbelievably kind and encouraging. Class Act! Great interview guys. Excellent start to my day!
So im drawing a comic book on the assassination of the swedish prime minister 34 years ago and tonight, before i sat down to draw, i opened the second book of the black/white Ultimate TMNT Collection, just to be inspired by some of that TMNT artwork that Eastman drew with Laird as far as 36 years ago. And the first thing i see in my UA-cam feed is this interview. Needless to say, im a huge fan and have so much respect for Kevin Eastman!
When I was in Massachusetts for an interview at Kaybee Toys, I flew into North Hampton. They just happened to be having some type of festival that day, and I saw Eastman's Batmobile parked in the festival. I went, did my interview, then came back to North Hampton and added an interview at Kitchen Sink... even though they weren't hiring. I remember Denis asking if I knew where the film negs for Zot! where, because they were working on their collection at the time.
Dream list of people for you guys to talk to: - Peter Laird - Jim Lawson - Bob Burden - Dave Sim - Stan Sakai - Steve Murphy - Chris Allan Love this channel, just subscribed, and thanks for making content actually focused on the books themselves.
I was the Graphic Designer/Senior Staff at the Museum when it was on Main St. I'm not sure if we ever met. But I'm super jazzed to SUB your channel. Your work freaking great!
@@WhoopWu100 Thats awesome! Thanks for the kind words man! :) Yeah I learned about so much cool shit going there as a kid, used to just stare at all those Biz and Corben paintings for so long! Its shame it doesn't still exist.
This interview was shorter than the rest but it was no less deep. Loved hearing about his collaboration with Bisley and his description of him as an artist. Great content Kings!
Kevin is the man! I hope he comes back for a part 2. I'm not really sure where I'd be as an artist if I hadn't fallen in love with the Turtles when I was a kid.
I have recently discovered this interview series. It is infectious in its enthusiasm and the questions are honest and the love of comics comes through. I always learn a little something about Kevin when he gives interviews. I had the distinct pleasure of working with him and the Mirage crew during the tail end of the "independent creator" era. I loved the Words and Pictures Museum and wish that it caught on. At the time, I thought it was ahead of its time - for comics which were still struggling to gain widespread acceptance in the mainstream. Great Kevin interview. Thank you for this series!
My cousin's TMNT color reprints from First Comics were my first knowledge of self-publishing! That was very important to me as a young cartoonist in the early '90s.
Wow...very interesting interview Kevin. WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT WE'D HAVE A FAMOUS CARTOONIST FROM OUR HOME TOWN OF WESTBROOK MAINE!!!### CRAZY HUH
I was just telling @scottlost you guys are killing it with the Shoot Interviews. Everyone you guys are talking with played a huge part in my comics fandom! I’m super appreciative.

TWD is probably the closest success story to TMNT (and they are both often written using an acronym)
I grew up going to the Words and Pictures museum every other week! Loved that place so much

I wish this was 4 hours long
At this rate, a year from now Ed and Jim will be releasing shoot interviews daily while making comics full-time.
Great interview! I want more!
I heard the Cramps always ink with a Winsor Newton Series #7 brush...
!David Choe! Kevin Eastman! You guys win UA-cam!!!
Great interview
I mean who's next Chip Zdarsky?!
Hell yeah, those 6 degrees paid off
You guys need to do a special on Al Columbia
Also want one on Gene Day
If I had created the turtles, I don't think I would have ever sold the rights, but instead just made cool stuff with them.
Cant wait to hear this!
I understand how controversial a figure he is, but has Dave Sim ever been a consideration for one of these "shoot interviews"?
Amazing
Wow!
You guys are out of control 🤗
