    It’s not good enough. The New 2024 LG OLED TVs have 144 Hz panels. 4K @ 120 support is not enough. I would be more than willing to shell out for a new sync box if it supported 4K @ 144hz with ALLM, VRR and 10 bit color. Phillips showed up with 2021 tech specs 3 years late and a $100 overpriced.

    I just spent $1500 on the existing sync box (along with lamps, strips bars and the gradient strip) but I would likely buy the new one too because I honestly love it that much and would expect an upgraded version to be even better. I'm actually currently playing ragnarok too but through the sync box. but I'd def love to try it with the new sync box whenever it is released.

    I have been waiting patiently for the new Hue 8K HDMI Sync Box. I ended up getting rid of my old one b/c like you, I have a PS5 and want to take advantage of games that support 120hz and in addition, I could not get a video signal from my work laptops. Good to see you back reviewing in your channel. I love my sync box and when I eventually switch TVs to something bigger, I would need to purchase this box and the light strip for the larger tv. I’m not the happiest with the price, but with technology upgrading all the time, it’s necessary to get.

    I’m debating. My issue is I am looking to understand how it plays with Sonos connected via earc. As I’m thinking about it, it shouldn’t be an issue as long as there is no sound lag vs the picture with all the devices being connected to the box first.

    • @LeeMartinez801
      @LeeMartinez801 10 місяців тому

      There is no sound lag as long as you have main HDMI from Sync Box going into an hdmi port on TV and your Sonos sound bar going into HDMI via earc. That’s how I have mine setup and it took away the sound lag that it once had!

    Question Justin, on PS5 most games that support 120hz if not all (to my knowledge) will run up to 120hz but at 1080p or 1440p (w variable refresh). Assuming most buyers will have an LG C1 or a tv like that that supports hdmi 2.1, doesn’t the current sink box allow for 120 Hz at either 1080 or 1440p? It seems that the limitations of next gen gaming consoles might not make this new sync box worthwhile?

    @Kingsley4K Рік тому

    I need help understanding this because I feel like there's no way you’re taking advantage of 120Hz on PS5 while playing an asset-heavy game like GoW. If your TV is capable of 120Hz, it will refresh the screen that fast regardless of what input right? But you only see a noticeable benefit in that if a console were to actually match that power by producing 120 fps, which the PS5 absolutely cannot on 99% of games unless you switch to 1080p and turn off all visual effects. I’m pretty sure I recall GoW Ragnarok not even supporting 60fps on PS5 at 4K. It’s locked to 30fps in fidelity mode. Performance mode boosts the FPS to 60fps but then compromises the resolution. So I’m just confused how the previous HDMI Sync box works was holding you back in this regard

      These are the confirmed modes for God of War:

      Favor Resolution (High Frame Rate On): 4K/40 FPS Locked (HDMI 2.1 required)

    What Philips should do with the new box is either add an android TV is to it or allow other TV manufacturers to have some way to match what's shown on the TV apps just like they do with Samsung.
    Although that€200 for the app is beyond stupid asking price.
    The reason I didn't buy the Philips kit I'd because it's way overpriced. My Lytmi kit does the same thing but better.

    Amazing news!
    Absolutely delighted with the potential news/surfaced rumours that Philips will be releasing an 8K Syncbox (or at least one that support for 4K 120 FPS.)
    To answer your question, "YES" i would definitely invest and upgrade my current Hue sync box to the newer 8K model in the future.
    I absolutely LOVE my current Philips Hue TV set up which includes the TV gradient light strip, current Hue snycbox, Hue Bridge and two Hue play bars at the back of my room.
    Yes it was an expensive investment at the time, but one of the best and most reliable pieces of tech / investments, i've made in the last 3 years by an absolute long shot!
    The Philips Hue system is just simply flawless and just transforms watching TV and is literally the cherry on the cake to my home TV set up, which already includes a very good surround sound. 🍒 🍰
    (@Justin_tech, it was actually your review years back that convinced me to make the investment and still grateful of your advice and review to this day. 😊)
    But I am at this point now where I am looking at possibly investing into a newer TV (Possibly a 8K TV, so I'm set for the future set as i won't plan to change it.) snd quite possibly into a Sony PS5.
    But I feel I would want to get the most from it if I was to invest in new TV & PS5 and not feel limited by the current Hue sync box.
    I really look forward to your feedback and review of this when it does release in the future.
    Keep up the great videos! 😊
