If he only received an 18 year sentence and this happened in 2006, that means he'll be out this year 2024, at the age of 36, to do the same thing again, the system in the uk and in Australia, where i live, is disgraceful, and it favours the criminals.
How come they don't have security doors like Australian, may be if she opened the door n if there's security door, might be saved her life, but once she opened the door what can u do the stranger is right infront of you.
I would NEVER leave my front door ajar after entering my home at night. Lock it, stock and barrel, before you even take your coat off, and pull the curtains to. You just never know who might be watching. Maybe Leila was 'dying for the loo'? No matter - make sure your front door is locked behind you. I even lock my car door as soon as l enter it - don't want to risk a random stranger jumping in and driving off with me in it....😱

People please lock your doors behind you and always be vigilant of your surroundings, even if you live in the most rich neighborhoods. World is full of of sickos!
Who’s insane? These murderers or the authorities who have them in prison and let them go. Because of good behavior? Do they mean because they hadn’t killed anyone while in custody 🙄
It's shocking the BS of the Law in some countries can never bring peace to the victims family. The killers are very smart knowing that life sentence be 22years and play it smart be out in 11 years.
The lawyers sleep well until the roles are switched and the shoe is on the other feet then they get a chance to know how the victim and their love ones feel.
Quite well, I believe. As long as the amount of money which he received is right, it doesn't disturb his sleep. He buys several bottles of whiskey and some drugs to mellow his conscience - that is if he has one.
How was he brought up by his parents for him to start getting into trouble at only 10 years old? Was he bitter towards his mother for him to take it out on Layla?

With him being a repeated offender and the severity of the violence he used against her, I hope the courts take that into consideration before they even think about setting him free before the end of his life. On a lighter note, Detective Phil Adams is stud muffin.
The extend of the crime commited, could have resulted in the fact that the victim saw the face of the killer, when she got out of lavotory,. His crime, was sheer brutal. Life in prisonment n throw away the keys.
For at least half the episode I thought they were saying she was attacked in the laboratory. 🤦🏻♀️ Also, it doesn't make sense to me that she didn't shut and lock the door when getting home and going to the bathroom.
In Canada life is 28 years I believe and people can be released early for good behaviour. I know someone who got manslaughter and was out in 4 years. The justice system here is quite similar to the UK so I can only assume that’s the reason.
Over-correcting. Until 1964 they were still hanging people. It's odd because the British seem a mild people but they sure go for extremes - from hanging a woman for shooting her abusive lover to letting child rapists out after 15 years.
Life, with a _minimum_ of 18 years. If he is not accepted for parole then he has to wait two years (I think) until the next one. If he's not fit to be out on the streets he will not be released.

Ankle bracelet, interesting. You can wiggle your foot in the door at 5pm, ding im here at home, then just go out again. I thought they might have those locks on them like supermarket trolleys so you can’t take them out of the car park.
They should focus on keeping the crime rate low, keep punishments real strong . 'The culprits will get caught ' and jailed for some years is not safety nor deterrent to crimes.

Scary indeed.
Gosh, how does a lawyer that defends a man like this sleep at night?
The lawyers sleep well until the roles are switched and the shoe is on the other feet then they get a chance to know how the victim and their love ones feel.
Well, in this case the lawyer clearly had morals hence the prepared statement. He did not have to confess. He was advised to do so.
