"If they need the track and stem vocals, they can't sing"??? Let's talk about it.

  • I decided to go back to a topic that I touched on a month ago in a video about (the difference between criticism & hate), but this time, I will be focusing on a particular topic that revolves around a wild argument that,
"If a Kpop group needs a track and stem vocals to help them while they are performing with heavy choreography, that means THEY CAN'T SING".
I will be tackling this argument as best as I can and we will see whether this wildly flawed argument holds weight, or if maybe, it's just an argument based on the foundation of misunderstanding, and HATE.
I will be revisiting the conversation that I had with a passing viewer who claimed, I and many other K-Tubers who cover these kinds of topics are "glorifying mediocrity".... yes that one. However, this video is not to bash her, but more so, to address her argument. I have to admit, I wasn't going to bring this person up anymore, but I really want to show you what her argument was, as well as her behavior while trying to have an honest and candid conversation with someone I thought might be able to engage in civil discourse.
It was only after I spoke with her that I realized she is the exact type of person that I was describing in my video, a person who offers insults instead of constructive criticism, and would happily and unapologetically send hate to idols who try their best but maybe need improvement in the aria of singing. I learned my lesson.
Never waste your words on people who show themselves to not really care what the counter argument is, and who love finding any opportunity to insult, and belittle you, I promise you will get nowhere in a conversation with them.
To be more blunt, and this is the only shade I'll throw her way,
"Don't be the cercus for a 🤡" lesson learned.

Reminded me of Jin of BTS, where he had no singing or dancing skills and had to learn. He's been working hard to be able to do both. There are singers that can't dance well. There are dancers that can't sing well. It's not easy to do both at the same time.
    Idols can improve.

This. He also didn’t learn to sing in one day or even one year. These people expect idols to show improvement after so quickly when that’s not how it works. It takes time to build ANY skill. People who play instruments aren’t perfect even after one year. Unless they practice 24/7 or are a prodigy, it will take awhile for them to master it.

      @@neb.9489 Exactly. I agree.

Aren't idols doing interviews as well. That can also contribute to them being exhausted vocally. I remember Chan talking about this in one of his old live streams. He said idols can sing well but there are other outside factors that can exhaust them to the point they can't speak much because their vocal cords are tired. He also talked about the AR and MR thing too.

I think he spoke about stem vocals too. Does anyone even listen to him anymore, when he talks about music production lol

It’s a shame that some fans act like idols aren’t allowed to have tired vocal cords. Even talking for a long period of time can cause vocal problems, which is something that I actually didn’t even think to factor in to my video, so thank you for bringing that up. That’s a really good point.
It’s really strange because it’s a normal thing humans experience and deal with constantly, so when someone says “ the idols practice all of the time, so if an idol needs a track, or stems, or their voice cracks, they can’t sing”,
I just look at them and think 💭 what kind of person can just sing perfectly 100 percent of the time without having any problems whatsoever??? The answer is, a fantasy character from my imagination.

@@moonlight_antonio I agree, singers need to rest their vocal cords. Having to work long periods can have an effect on the muscles and cords in the throat.
I don't think people take all factors into consideration before commenting that an idol can't sing at all. Who recorded the backing vocals and stuff. If they can't sing at all then how can they record anything. Autotune and editing can only do so much, the rest has to be the singer's voice.

@@moonlight_antonio It's an unrealistic expectation to think idols can sing for long periods of time without rest. It's unrealistic to think idols have to be so perfect all the time. Even BTS aren't perfect, they just work hard to be able to sing with difficult choreographies. And I remember them being out of breath and exhausted when they first started. They practiced and improved. The same with SKZ, they also practice and improve. Woojin does the same thing, he is a gifted vocalist that also practices everyday.
If people want vocalists then they should look for artists that can sing rather than be online complaining about how idols can't sing. There are plenty of idols from smaller companies that can sing well. Just to name a few: IU, Limelight, Rolling Quartz, DreamCatcher, Woojin, ChungHa, etc. There are so many more.
Other ones are like Taemin, Key, SKZ, Boa, Ailee, Taeyeon, BTS, Seventeen but most of them are or were from major companies.

Stop complaining and find artists that you actually like. Go support them. They could use the support. Stop bashing other artists and groups. Spend that energy supporting and just enjoy the music. Stop nitpicking every little detail, you can't enjoy music when you tear them apart.

If people want to know the truth then they'll have to watch and research it before speaking about it. This is for anyone who hasn't seen the performances. Watch both Week 1 and Week 2 performances and then decide, don't just listen to other people's opinions. Don't follow the crowd. As long as the girls can sing then it shouldn't matter what way/methods they use to do it, whether it's live vocals or not. It does not mean they can't sing. It's the same with painters and other artists, as long as they can actually paint then the way/method doesn't matter. Just don't do anything illegal and try to stay out of trouble.

Hi Antonio. Can I make a suggestion/request? I would really love to see your reaction to Le Sserafim's Week 1 and Week 2 Coachella performances. If you can.
There's a difference between both performances, sound and all that.

  • @ProphetMisfit09

Expecting top tier vocals on a consistent basis from idols who are constantly working, performing, and with little rest is why kpop fans can be so toxic. Le Sserafim are getting bullied from hell and back, right now.

Yes, exactly. But now Le Sserafim has proven that they do work hard. Week 2 of Coachella is good.

Plus, week 1 wasn't bad either. I actually prefer week 1 for the energy.

maybe you won't be agree with me but when it come to vocal topic there difference between hate and genuin critism
the problem that i had mostly with Hybe is they don't put any effort on giving their artist a real vocal training.
i know that idols are human they can crack their voice being out of breath and that ok not all performance have to be perfect.
but if i take the the case of lsf and expecially Sakura not able to handle a easy note for a female especilly being standing i'm sorry but there is a problem and Hybe had to fix it, even their technique is weak singing nicely is bare minimum.
my problem is that Hybe slowly destroying the level of kpop vocal (who decreased sing 3rd gen)
for those who want to say me "it emotion blablabla" aespa ate spicy pepper for an encore and still delievred good vocal for Spicy who isn't an easy song
and even weak vocally group as, itzy, ive, bp, stayc ect still sing nicely despite their weak technique

How do you know they don't give vocal training to their artists? Do you know? Are you there with them to assume that? I know you what you're saying. It's interesting to see people say that they aren't getting vocal training.

Maybe in the future they will improve more.

    • @AwakeningWings

SM groups are so vastly different, most of those groups have singers that were already good singers before they joined the company. Then they had more vocal lessons to improve. HYBE singers aren't like the SM ones, comparing them doesn't help. For some artists, it will take time to improve and they all have time to improve everyday.
Give them a chance to improve. Rome was not built in a day. It takes time. Let those idols get there before sending them hate. Constructive criticism is fine but not when it borders on hate. The criticism they need is for improvement, things like "Le Sserafim sucks, they need vocal lessons, they need to be good since day one, etc." doesn't help them.
Talk about the reasons why and help them improve by giving fair and kinder feedback.

Giving underhanded feedback and comments will not help the situation. A lot of people do this.

You are all about hybe destroying this or that when hybe didn't exist until like 3 years ago lol ..this is just ridiculous tbh....there was only Bighit before that and I'm sorry to tell you that for years they were actually one of the few artists to even perform live in award shows, it's a known fact....so who were destroying K-Pop during that time (remember that hybe didn't exist again)....now hybe is suddenly the villain of the K-Pop world when it's people and broadcasting stations who did with these unreasonable levels of perfection needed

Companies are debuting visuals with the intention of snagging endorsement deals and making influencers nowadays. The albums are just another form of merch for stans who are gamifying charts. They don't take the music or vocals seriously and the lackluster performances show that.
If fans want to prioritize vocal talent and great music over everything, they need to stop supporting groups who don't.

    • @AwakeningWings
      @AwakeningWings 2 місяці тому +1

"Fans" need to stop calling idols ugly and degrading them. You know, people should stop criticizing their looks and actually value the music instead. Maybe the vocals and music would be viewed more if they wore no makeup or had no surgery and just performed barefaced. You know work on singing and dancing better. Since visuals aren't needed to sing or dance.
