Try the 1-2-3 method when introducing it to your skin. Once a week for one week, twice a week for two weeks, and then three time a week for three weeks. Then every other night, then every night. And then while using it every night, use it every other day in the morning as well, then move on to every morning and every night every day

Azelaic acid literally removed my acne hyperpigmentation. Did it take long? Yes, it took 2 months but my acne scars (hyperpigmentation scars, not atrophic scars) really disappeared.

I use it in my curology formula at 5% with 4% niacinamide and .05% Tretinoin.
I’ve been using it for years, but can’t say that it’s made much of a difference .
I also use OTC 10% from the ordinary or inky list. There formulas make my skin feel like velvet.
The only thing I have ever used where I saw a visible difference was the Paulas choice 20% niacinamide. Using that with my regular stuff mentioned above has made my skin smoother. Paula’s choice is so expensive though. The 20% niacinamide serum is $55.

use salicylic acid in ur cleanser. keep it for a minute on your face and rinse. use azelaic acid in AM or PM or both. it goes well with vitamin c, niacinamide, tretinoin. for better and fast results use it daily. it's a bit irritating in the starting so start slow. use the sandwich method. twice or thrice a week use tretinoin at night. tretinoin when used alone at night is v slow. but if you apply tretinoin after washing your face at night and then on top of it if you will apply AA it is a powerful combo. for the next two days your skin will peel. but on the third day you will have a baby soft skin. I once a week use both tretinoin and AA together in my night skin care. and it has proved very effective. if you have an active acne or about to get get a painful pimple and you apply a little AA on it, it will heal in 24 hours or be completely gone. AA is very good for skin concerns like hyperpigmentation and pimples I hv personally noticed. but it is the only ingredient that is the most irritating on my skin. so I use it with niacinamide and it doesn't sting. I apply niacinamide first, and then AA at night. thrice a week I use tretinoin at night. AA I use mostly with Vitamin c during the day and sometimes at night with niacinamide.

PLEASE READ: Today I had to stay for 6 hours in the hospital because of azelaic acid. After 10 days of use due to Rosaceae, my face, my eyesight, tongue and throat were swollen with strange pressure on my throat and on my chin. I had already noticed that my face was purging in the first 10 days, but I continued to use it after having seen the dermatologist for a double check. In the last two days my face started to get puffy. This morning at 04h30 AM I woke up half choking and with swollen eyes. I used Skinoren, 20% azelaic acid. At the hospital the nurse told me that she had seen more cases of reactions to azelaic acid. It triggered histamine upon renewing the deep skin tissue. This product can be dangerous. I will never ever come even near it.
