Other than the positioning of the pipe and can, I think I'm most psyched about the significant weight savings. Thanks for this vid. The installation of both the Rally and Enduro bends are very similar.

Hey bud, I just got my Tenere 700 delivered today. I wanted to ask, do you think its better getting the Tusk Pannier that would save the Oem exhaust from falling than buying a Camel or Scorpion exhaust as my budget is tight? Looking forward to hearing from you :)
I think either will work. If you don't mind the extra width and would like bags or boxes then go for the racks. If you think you'll want an aftermarket pipe anyway, I'd say reroute it with one of the kits.
Kinda scary seeing a sawzall cutting away on a new bike but it sure is an improvement . I am putting on the Tusk panniers with Pilot bags so that might negate the need for this mod , we shall see . Good effort going out into the snow with that , at least you got a good workout .
Ha ha yeah it took me a week to work up the nerve but I'm glad I did it. Not sure I'd have done it if I planned on panniers, unless I knew I'd remove them at some point. Wouldn't hurt though I suppose.

@@SwankyCatProductions Hey Ben, I'm considering this mod. I am concerned about how loud it might be on long trips, especially considering the outlet would now be pointed upwards towards my ears. I know I could go with a different exhaust and just use Camel's link pipe, but the price for their muffler (I know it's an inexpensive outsourced one) is attractive. I appreciate your input in advance.
I have the Outback Motortek luggage rack which would appear to shield the exhaust from any impact and therefore obviate the need to change the exhaust.
Your bike looks really nice..couple of questions if you don't mind..1..with your exhaust that high will it get in the way or burn a passenger?..2..if you put on soft side bags will it burn the bags?.thanks..
Thanks! I've not tried riding with a passenger yet. I plan on doing a video testing it out but I don't anticipate any issues. I think you'd definitely need some sort of racks to keep bags away from the pipe. I've got my old KLR tail bag on my rear rack now and it doesn't even get warm though.
To fix the biggest design flaw of this *fantastic* bike you would have to cut off the rearframe and reattach it with bolts so that you'r whole frame isn't bent after it has lain on its side a few times - and yes that shit happened to me, about 7000 Euro worth of damage and you could barely even see it. Glad i swapped that thing out for a 790r after that shit happened.
Love the video, love the bike! Be careful with your voice, you will destroy your vocal chords when you keep doing the vocal fry. Have a great day and keep up the great content!
I feel like the turn signals from TST industries would NOT require the heat shield on the signal. Their turn signals have a hollow portion around the actual light that would allow the heat from the exhaust to pass through.
Say, that q-tip paint trick is a good idea. Never even thought of that. I always just used markers haha. This mod seems like a good idea. The stock setup puts an awful lot of leverage on that frame tube. Like you say, if you had a decent fall, I could see how that could really twist up the subframe back there. It's a nice looking setup! Oh God, big bike in the snow, haha. Been there. It's a bit different isn't it, haha. I couldn't tell, did the db killer make much change in person? It's wife approved anyway, rofl. I really like your dash setup and how that GoPro attaches up there. That is slick. Anyway bud, great video. Glad you survived the tree gauntlet, haha.
My grandparents taught me that years ago when I was into fixing up old bicycles, works pretty good! Yeah idk who thought a foot long exhaust hanger was a good idea, talk about a breaker bar lol. Ha ha yeah I've done it enough on my 250 but never thought I'd be trying it on a brand new 460lb parallel twin lol. Certainly an experience! Ha ha. The DB killer does drop the volume a bit but the tone goes up a bit which is what's most noticable... I think I might actually run it without lol. The mount I used is actually for my gps, I stole the bar mount one for my sled. But I do like that location better, it's nice to be able to see the bars. Ha ha yeah I cannot believe I didn't let it down or hit a tree at the end there lol.
I love CADV stuff however I cringe at cutting that mount off as its part of (welded to) the frame. Another flaw of this bike IMO) There are other option out there that don't make you do that if you ever want to put it back to stock. Overall I love my T7!
Panniers are why that Yamaha made it that way. ADV bike not dirt bike design. Though I would have liked to have seen Yamaha bolt that bracket to lugs on the frame. Racks and bags would protect this in the event of a fall.
Do they sell an off road exhaust kit that replaces the CAT with a straight pipe? Great video. I've been looking at the T7, F850 and Africa Twin. I was considering on waiting for the new 2022 KLR 650. but I like the look of the T7 and Africa twin.
There are aftermarket systems out there, I would assume they don't have a cat on them? I'm really happy with my T7, handles the type of both on and off road riding I do better than any other bike I've been on. Only issue is it's hard to keep the front tire on the ground haha.
@@SwankyCatProductions Thanks for the info . Really like the T7 for the cost, weight and looks compared to KTM and Honda. In AZ the T7 are going for 10K and the KTM790 are like 14K. Nice explanation for the install. Quick question though. The two hex screws that pinch the new mounting bracket on the cut pipes, could you drill those out and through the pipe to put a bolt and nut for a more "bulletproof" option? thanks

Definitely take the fishing pole. I lived in Colorado for 8 years. The fishing and hunting there caused my college career to take an extra year or two. Lol.
Nice! Don't get the Yamaha crash bars!!! I've seen people who have had them bend in and wreck there plastics. Mine are made by DirtRacks in Canada. They aren't anything fancy but have worked well so far and are relatively inexpensive. Here's the link to the install video I did, they go on super easy. ua-cam.com/video/oC5YWaxCPrE/v-deo.html
Nice job on video. I was laughing with you not at you when you were in the snow. I am going with Huzar cause the pipe and muffler are tucked in more. Hopefully I can fit some soft luggage racks over the muffler that don't stick out so far and will add a little protection for the muffler.
Nice sound Ben. I think I will wait a bit until the options include the Spark arrestor. Ill be loading the T7 up and headed for a little rider training in Southern Cali desert. Looking forward to a break from the snow in Washington state. Stay up on two!
Nice! Yeah it might be worth the wait. I had to jump on it so I could get the video out but I'm scrambling a bit to make sure I can ride trails when the snow melts ha ha. I'll get it figured out though!
If you landed on the exhaust side wouldn't it still bend? Looks like all that kit does is shorten the bracket which while I'm sure it does stiffen things up a bit I would still imagine landing on that side would bend it
True, the pipe is still going to contact the ground first before the plastics. However I think that's the same position your in with most adventure bikes. But since the exhaust is now higher and tighter in to the bike, a rear crash bar would actually be effective. Where as before the pipe was to low and far out for any crash bar, other than huge pannier racks, to work.
At a guess I'd say you'd want it to bend easy, better than bending the frame of your bike and writing it off. But still a terrible design for such a great bike.
It needs a sheer pin design or a hanging bracket so the muffler can swing when crashing .. yes it’s less likely to bend the bracket/snap off the subframe because it doesn’t stick out as far.. unless you drop it on a log or rock
Thanks for sharing, my Tenere is supposed to be in end of March. Just wandering if you know who the camel exhaust is made by, I assume its a quality muffler. Take care
Haha yeah I always saw that on dual sports and decided to try it. I tore a part of it off on a tree though and it was starting to tear more so I had to flip it around last weekend. I actually drilled holes in to mount it so I didn't need the extra bracket the tail tidy came with haha.
I wish i could mount the plate the same way to my Africa Twin, but since i live in southern germany and we have the StVZO, the Straßenverkehrszulassungsbehörde, this will be verboten. Such as driving anywhere else than on asphalt-roads is verboten. We have many Verbote and NoNoNo-rules over here... Very lustig
I’m hoping a company brings out a rear pannier rack to work in conjunction with this high exhaust. Keeping it narrow. With the standard exhaust the rack system just stick out too much. Bikes looking great!
Yeah I agree, I'm not big on panniers since my riding style doesn't really require them but some nice thin ones might interest me even. Might be too much of a niche market right not for anyone to invest the time though.
Ha ha yeah a little more slippery but if imagine pretty similar to deep sand. The snow stuck in all the cracks just melted away on its own though which was nice lol
Correct, once things are tightened there is almost no movement. The muffler bracket has a very small amount of give which is probably good. Very solid otherwise.
I've sat on all these heavy adventures.. Grew up on a yz80 at 10. Yz125, ktm 500. R6 and r1. But these are too big off road. I'm a yamaha freak but I think I'm picking up a crf300l rally next unless yamaha announces they'll do something for 2023
Yeah having easy access to the ground is certainly a confidence booster. Not being able to flat foot on my KLR really bugged me for a long time but I forced myself to get past it and it's good I did because I have to lean the Tenere over to get one foot flat on the ground haha. Now if there was something with the same power, off road capability, ground clearance but a lower seat height I'd switch for sure lol but I make it work... Sort of haha
Good video..bikes looking great 👍,. And the new exhaust sounds good. I like the sound of my standard T7 exhaust, but the Camel one is good too, with the DB killer in . Can I ask what make is your rear rack...? Cheers Steve
Like I say, it's not built for the snow, we had a snowmobile I call big bertha. Bertha would take you through the snow with a sleigh and a big heavy load, like 2 or 300 pounds!
Don't quote me on this but i think the DirtRacks soft luggage racks world keep bags far enough away form this set up. But I can totally understand how the low pipe would be nice for that.
Ha ha yeah I think the snow might have melted off my propane grill by now, maybe I'll do that tomorrow! Lmao yeah I should probably do a video on that... I'm a little afraid about the backslash though lol
What bags can go on the bike w that pipe? It's looking like a passenger is out of the question unless they are wearing oven mits, and a fireproof suit..if dirt roads at low speed are your thing, and you don't want to trailer a bike..everyone is making 250's and 300's lighter, better suspension, engine and transmission for dirt roads..that require a licence plate and lights to get there
The pipe doesn't seem to get all the warm actually but I've not been able to get my wife on the back yet. I'll do a video on it when I do though. Not sure on bags, I think I've seen people use them though. I've actually opened a 250 for a long time, just sold it to a friend though.

I personally like the bike in all the colors and since I am in the waiting list, i would just get the first one available. I would probably get all the mods you have but the beak.
Its nice to see you walking around normally. Would you say your back to 100% now?
Thanks! Not 100% but much better!
Is your Dad riding to Colorado this summer?
Yes I am with a fishing pole, Oh yes!
Fishing pole lmao what???
@@JerryAndKimcheeADV
What month will you be there? My nephew and I will be passing thru early July on our TAT trip. Would be neat to meet somewhere there for a beer and a burger. Definitely take the fishing pole. I lived in Colorado for 8 years. The fishing and hunting there caused my college career to take an extra year or two. Lol.
How did you close the open ends of the two tubes you created by cutting the original bracket?
They don't get closed up at all. They are covered up a little by the bracket but I don't anticipate any issues because of it.
My t7 should be in this month....looking at crash bars and rear rack....are those from yamaha or aftermarket? Great video by the way.
Thanks for reply and info,, will be looking into the those.
Nice job on video. I was laughing with you not at you when you were in the snow. I am going with Huzar cause the pipe and muffler are tucked in more. Hopefully I can fit some soft luggage racks over the muffler that don't stick out so far and will add a little protection for the muffler.
Yeah that kit really hides everything well. Almost seems like that's what yamaha intended the way the rear swing arm is shaped.
U get the Huzar? Heard easier to deal via email wth them re ordering/shipping etc…
If u did, how’d the final install go…with any mods?
no problems with the install
Any issue on jumps? Did the pipe got perforated with the Brembo caliper?
No issues on jumps, no. I've got the suspension dialed in now but before that I bottomed the rear out on a few big hits and still had no issues.
With that exhaust, wouldnt heavy rain get into it?
Not if it's running! But otherwise, yeah it definitely could.
Yessir sounds soooo good
Thanks!
Any drop test updates on this? Im getting mine installed tomorrow!
Hasn't been down on that side since I installed mine. Won't be long though I'm sure haha.
Now you know why the muffler bracket bends so easy; the saw went through it like budda!😀
Yeah it sure did, it was a brand new blade but that surprised the heck out of me lol
Take care
Nice! I think it feels and sounds very quality but it's just a universal 51mm inlet muffler from eBay or Amazon.
I really like the way you mounted the license-plate with really below-zero-dignity. It's obviously only there, because it has to.
@@SwankyCatProductions
Home made ones it is then!
🙂
Tusk makes some and you can get them online for about $400 and they’re metal.
@Will Davids confirm Tusks make the hard bags with this new high exhaust set up?
Awesome looking bike mate, Do you think the high mount exhaust would make any different to mounting soft panniers like Mosko motos? Thanks dude
Thanks! I want to say I've seen people with both but I'm not 100% sure. I've only had my old KLR tail bag on mine so far.
Riding in that snow is much like riding in sand. Lol
Ha ha yeah a little more slippery but if imagine pretty similar to deep sand. The snow stuck in all the cracks just melted away on its own though which was nice lol
At 10:03 when you pull on it, all bolts still need to tighten right? Does it move after it is torqued down?
Correct, once things are tightened there is almost no movement. The muffler bracket has a very small amount of give which is probably good. Very solid otherwise.
@@SwankyCatProductions thank you 👍🏻
And. legend is Born.....T700
I had the same model xl250r in the background! Tough bike, I crashed mine too many times to count
Haha yeah it was a darn good machine!
assemble heat items with copper grease coating on the touching metal surfaces?
Yeah should've done that, might still do it, have not been able to ride much yet.
@@SwankyCatProductions husqvarna 701? ;)
Good video..bikes looking great 👍,. And the new exhaust sounds good. I like the sound of my standard T7 exhaust, but the Camel one is good too, with the DB killer in . Can I ask what make is your rear rack...? Cheers Steve
Thank you! Here's a link to the video I did on it, it's made by DirtRacks. ua-cam.com/video/cqPjwjOhIlM/v-deo.html
awesome vid of an awesome bike. job well done 👍 subbed
Sounds great man
Thanks man!
What tires are you running on your T7 in this video?
Motoz there's a link to them in the video description.
Great outcome.
the silver of your hair goes well with the silver of the bike :P
Haha thanks!
Sounded really good. That journey in the yard oughta count for at least 2 weekly bike installments. Ride Safe Ride Often 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
Thanks! Lmao yeah I agree!
Nice bike try lowering psi in tires , if not running studs
I might do studs this year actually!
@@SwankyCatProductions it’s worth it man!
Like I say, it's not built for the snow, we had a snowmobile I call big bertha. Bertha would take you through the snow with a sleigh and a big heavy load, like 2 or 300 pounds!
The low pipe is not my favorite, but has the advantage of not interfering with my saddlebags.
Don't quote me on this but i think the DirtRacks soft luggage racks world keep bags far enough away form this set up. But I can totally understand how the low pipe would be nice for that.
Anyone have a leak at the clamp with exhaust moisture?
Yeah sounds much better
Thanks Shane!
Red Loktite in high vibration areas.
do you have a ref for the heat shield ? Thx
No, they just came with the kit.
Thanks for the video brother. I’ll be doing the same
Glad it helped!
What a glorious machine. HOW DID YOU LET IT GO !?!?!? hehe
Not gonna lie....I am not sure if I could have cut that bracket. It looks pretty awesome tho!
I had the kit for a week before I worked up the nerve to do it lol but I'm glad I did! Thanks Ron!
Snow is melting fast here.
Yeah... It's raining here, maybe I'll take the bike out tomorrow if the roads are clean ha ha
@@SwankyCatProductions I fired up the pellet grill and made burgers tonight. Good luck with views, this isn't a Pan America video. Lol
Ha ha yeah I think the snow might have melted off my propane grill by now, maybe I'll do that tomorrow! Lmao yeah I should probably do a video on that... I'm a little afraid about the backslash though lol
@@SwankyCatProductions my buddy was saying he was looking forward to the 2021 Harley Pomeranian. 😊
It looks like the entire weight of the muffler is help up by 2 little set screws. I hope I’m wrong.
The set screws just sort of keep that bracket from rattling, the way the tubes enter it at an angle it cannot be pulling off.
Ok, it just looked wrong.
Many thanks for video! Really cool.
Best regards!
Great video! I did the same on my GS and I melted my indicator at highway speeds.
Thanks! Oh no! Hopefully the shield will help me avoid that.
Bikes looking great! She looks mean!
Thanks!!!
