Easy way to help with buffeting is buying a windshield “spoiler” or extender. Really cleans up airflow. Bought that on my africa twin and suddenly i could tour for about 8 hours or so without having real problems with airflow

When the fuel light goes on, I went 50 miles at 70 mph (I had a small gas can strapped to the back of my T7, so I wasn’t afraid of getting stranded) and still didn’t run out of gas!! The craziest longest fuel reserve I have ever experienced on a motorcycle!
My 250L rally has about the same reserve distance, though I have to say that's at 50-60mph .

Quick tip for the ABS switch, if you're pulling up for a short time you can just rest on back brake and deliberately stall the bike at standstill, the ABS will remain off when you restart the bike 🤙🏾

Having owned and ridden a DR650 for a while before buying my T7 sure helped a lot feeling confident on it. There's not a single place where I took my DR where I didn't take my T7. Loving it!

@@keithquinn5624 I consider most dirt/gravel roads to be easy, but I'm far from being a pro haha. Somewhere in between at best. I simply put a decent set of tires on it and started practicing and riding :)
@@rayurlich Spend some proper time practicing very slow races, footless stops and riding on various surfaces. Get that bushpig dirty and have fun!

Thanks for your review and thoughts on the T7. I considered one of these for my re-introduction to riding (hadn’t rode a bike in 24 years), and I wanted to explore dirt since it had been 32 years since I rode a dirt bike. I ended up getting a Suzuki DRZ400s this spring instead as a “trainer” bike to “get back on the horse” essentially. I think I made the right choice even with the limited range on the DRZ (100 mile range), as it has been a great reintroduction to both riding, and a great bike to train for more technical dirt/rock riding this spring/summer/fall here in interior Alaska. Sadly my last ride of the season was Oct 1st… as winter is now fully upon us here (6+ inches of snow and freezing rain the last 7 days). That said, I am thinking at least one more summer run on the DRZ, then I may consider an upgrade to the T7.
Anyone who want to ride a twin cylinder off road needs to do themselves the favour of riding an enduro bike for two years beforehand. Factor it into the cost of owning a T7. It will completely revolutionise your adventure experience. Trying learn on a T7 is insanity. None of the guys everyone admires (P.T for example) learnt on an adventure bike. There are so many thresholds you’ll never cross. But a couple of years on an enduro will allow you to develop the skills needed to use some of these big bikes capabilities. And then after all that, buy a 690 so you never have to ride a 200kg adventure bike again.
Totally disagree, I’ve learned so much on the T7 where I started off-roading for real, then jumped on a light bike and everything was easy, the thing is on bikes like this you need to apply the correct technic, with a light bike it will go trough sand, mud, jumps even if you do it wrong, a 200 kgs bike you don’t have a choice and need to do things correctly
I had a 2022 690 sold it and got the tenere 700 what a bike!!! So what it’s a bit heavier that’s only in weight it rides so nimble for a big bike it will do everything I ask of it and it will outlast any 690 especially with that CP2 reliability
Agree, I put 10,000 miles on my DRZ400S 70% street commuting 30% off road. Learning how to ride over sand, logs, slide 180’s to turn around on my DRZ400S. It helped me big time to prepare me for my T7

5'7"/170cm here. Lowered the seat by about 3/4"/18mm, bought Daytona "booster boots" with a 1"/25mm higher heel, and lowered the bike with links by 18mm. Now the height is perfect for me. Also I'm going to remove my SW Motech crash guards and install the Camel ADV bomb proof front fairings. I'll reduce top heaviness and total weight that way.

Inspiring. I am getting it as a secondary bike.
Bought the bike, went offroad and got really scared of the size of the bike and to ride it offroad and to drop it. Went on a 4 days enduro training (with ktm exc 250's) and that changed the world. Got back on the tenere and got huuuge trust in this bike. If you can trick your head to that you're riding a light enduro bike, your t7 will acutally feel light and easy on the trail (with some training for sure).

Good vid. Take a look at the HP Corse Short Exhaust. it goes inside the mount. I put the full exhaust on mine, no cat. I have Ohlins STX 46 rear sprung for me and front fork internals and spring

Currently i ride a KTM 390 Adv. Frankly, i feel its all the motorcycle i would ever need. However, the T7 is my dream. As you rightly pointed out, this is what is going to help me push my skills. Unfortunately, its not yet on sale in India. But, when it comes, I am definitely going to get one and take my touring and off road experience to the next level. Thanks for the video man. Take care. I think is the best and most honest review of this bike, especially from a non advanced rider's point of view. There is so much hype about this bike that props it up way more than it should be. Not that it is not a great bike but it lacks in many areas, however, that is reflected in the price. If I created the perfect T7 it would have the Acerbic larger tank, upgraded brakes, Cruise control, rider aids, more comfortable seat and and I would put a Tractive suspension on it. Sadly, it would make the bike a $17k bike.....which is why I bought a Desert X for $17k. If Yamaha would do these things to the T7 I would pay the price and love the reliability. I realize that many wanted the simplicity of no electronics but to have an ADV bike that is meant for long travel CC is a miss.

I just brought a T7 world raid and what an awesome machine it is and for those who own a T7 Yamaha do the screen extender which works really well. I'm 5'11 and on my T7 world raid the wind clears the top of my helmet. I was doing 65mpg with my visor up and had no problems with any buffering.

My first bike is the t7. I love it. I take it offroad all the time its great.
I started with an 650gs, then an Africa Twin before building out my dream T7.
Your review is the first of many I've seen which perfectly characterizes the T7... Top heavy, easy to drop and hard to pick up. My 1100 Twin was WAY easier to maneuver, especially slow speed technical.
Keep a little speed, and T7 dominates. Def not a good first time adventure bike.

I just bought my first dual sport a 2023 Honda 300l rally. I sat on the Tenere 700 and I felt the tipping point which you and others were mentioning, It felt a little to top heavy for me. Yes I need to add a lot to the Honda but that's the fun part about building a motorcycle to your liking. I would like to do some light day camping and exploring.
I have the 250l rally , surprisingly good on road, real good.
It's funny, I walked in to my local dealer to pick up a battery for my 790 duke... (Been looking for an adventure bike for 3 years now) and I walked by the T7 and said to myself... now thats a bike I'd like to try!!! come home that night and found your video without searching... some would call it fate!!! :) going back tomorrow to take a more serious look at it! great video thank you!
This video confirms that my purchase of KTM690 Enduro R was a wise one. With a better power to weight ratio, and 159kg wet, it blows the T7 away.

If you can get a hold of natural comfrey leaves (known as knit bone), the absolute best and fastest way to mend soft tissue damage or broken bones...also comfrey is readily available in a cream at pharmacy
I'm 5'6 so no stranger to not touching the ground. have ridden for 13 years and had street bikes as heavy as 750 lbs. And the moment I sat on a t7 I knew it was too big for me. Too bad a cause I love the look. But I'll get something else for my off-road bike
I’m 5”7 and I’m about to to buy a Norden 901, the lower centre of gravity as the tanks are the saddlebag style, makes them feel really light
5’7” here, and yeah I agree. I love the bike’s look and capabilities and am taken in by its reputation, but way too tall for me. The bike feels light enough to ride in normal situations but lacking advanced skills and confidence I would just be constantly worried about dropping it off road. Not to mention it’s one of the hardest bikes to pick up. Think I’ll wait for the Himalayan 450.
I'm in the 5'7" club. Had my T7 over three years now 32,000 miles, yes it's tall but I'm confident enough to ride it off road, nothing to technical because of limited skills. I commute it everyday in London traffic and have toured in Europe on it. I love my heavily modified T7 and will be keeping it for along time to come. There is plenty of good even better dare I say it bikes out there, but for me the looks and reliability far out way anything else. Hope you find the bike that suits your needs. 👍🏻

Should give the Aprilla Tuareg 660 a test ride to compare, i own one and having the fuel tank lower and the airbox higher up puts the weight alot lower
Being 1.70cm, I’d definitely need a lowering kit for this bike, but then again, all adv bikes are quite tall.
But since we are emigrating from the Netherlands (where you really do not need an adv bike) to Portugal I really feel I need to trade in my Vulcan S for a more off-road capable bike, and this Teneree just looks amazing and I already know I love the CP2 engine.

Now THIS is a video I can relate to! 🤣🤣Instead of watching some jamoke flying off Jumps on his Africa Twin (which is what I have) guys spending a little more time on the ground wondering if we should have got something a little smaller..
I sold my Africa Twin to buy a Tenere my mates gave me so much grief until they rode it. Its 50kgs lighter, thinner and easier to manage off road as I am a shorty 174 cms. Thou it is not as refined as the Africa twin on the Highway. I can also commute into Melbourne on this 48klms one way easy as. I did the Safe 2 Ride with Paul and dropped my Africa up one of the hill climbs out of a creek in the rain. It was an awesome day, I am going to do it again on my new Tenere. Keep on riding catch you on the trails.
When I bought mine, I was actually trying to get an Africa Twin. I'm glad I stuck with my decision. My first, and only bike i've had. Not one issue.

All those pro riders like Torres,birch etc,they all have years of trials/enduro experience ,Pol Torres,s bike is stripped right back to bare minimum for weight so he can race it also.
complete noob here (4th year riding, 1st year off road), i did the thing....i bought the T7 last year new, dropped it of course, cursed it of course. LOVE the damn thing ....of course. I wont stop learning and i am stubbord and wont learn on anything else. I feel that once i will handle this, i will be able to handle any bike

Trying to decide between this and the Tuareg. I can’t find a single review that favors this over the Aprilia. But I can see the Yamaha is rock solid reliable
The price is also not very comparable. If you have the dealer network around you, you can go for the Aprilia, but you can be sure you’re gonna be spending more on maintenance then you would with a T7.

I wonder if a LeoVince underbody would fit on a Tenere?
All these peeps saying they're too small need to get used to tall bikes. Ride a WR for 6 months and you won't worry about the height of anything. You don't muscle a bike around, you finesse it.

I have had 50cc 125cc and a ktm 690 sm and im thinking about getting a tenere and only - is that im less then 5 feet 8 inches. so its maybe a struggle but i shall see when i go test drive one of these.

Well when I was young I had a DT50 then a XT350 then a CBR600. Past 20 years without a bike I had a Shadow 750 and an R1. Sell those and bought a MT-09 SP 2021 and now I was thinking to trade the MT for the T7

Hi, what’s the exact model of the wind shield riser?
I don't recommend rear shock lowering links as you risk tire contact with the underside of rear mudguard. It slows the bike and will hurt your tire. They may work better for street only bikes but off road you have too many sudden elevation changes and constantly braking for the big ones because you lack clearance for your back tire will quickly spoil a great day on the dirt. Did it on my wife's XT200 and soon changed back to OEM links. Just saying..

Tipped over yesterday on the exhaust side . Haven't ridden in many months and finally got some free time . Did a little slow speed stuff to get familiar with it again . Found out the rear brake was gone from the start so I stayed on 35mph streets or less . Not sure what or why the brake isn't working , probably the fluid or something but the shop is getting a phone call in a minute . Very fun bike but it will get a stablemate like a TW200 for easy fun take in the truck and hit mountain trails etc .
Makes sense. My rear brake don't work but still I'm gonna take it on the road😂
I've been riding without my rear brake for a couple of years. All on city riding. I just haven't gotten around to changing out the pads yet. But I will tell you that the rear pads do not last very long. I've already replaced them once. Bought the bike new in December 2020. Never had any issues. When I get around to replacing the pads, I will replace the rear rotor.
The brakes had bubbles and got flushed . Feels better knowing that I can slow with some added help from the rear brake .
@@roderickmcintosh5641 You really shouldn't be using all that much rear brake anyway. If you're going through pads that fast then something is very wrong.
@@skoparweaver7692 yeah, I'm actually going to look into it the upcoming weekend. When I first got the bike it was my first bike, and I was rear brake heavy. But very first thing I'm gonna do is a brake bleed. The reservoir level appears normal.

The New RE Himalayan Sherpa 450cc.
6000 Brandnew. No plastics. Very esy to ride. 40HP, 150km at full Throttle. 3 to 3,5 liters on 100km. Easy to maintain.
What tires do you use?

It's from SRC Adventure Moto. It's just a decal kit. I since removed them and had it powder coated
the rear frame is already finished. I don't like welded rear frames.Especially with the exhaust holder. That's just as stupid as indicators in the handguards of the new 1300 Gs
Yea i don't know what they were thinking with that exhaust bracket being welded!
Really hope they bring the World Raid or Rally to the US, BUT... If they don't and Yamaha comes out with a 70th edition (black and yellow) in 2026 I will probably pick up the standard model. (currently ride a Multistrada 1260 Enduro & R9t Urban GS)
I own a Aprilla Tuareg 660. Lifting these narrow middle weight adventure bikes is a pain. They lie very flat on the ground if you don't have anything on the bike. I did a, for me, challenging off-road trip and had to pick it up 4 times and after that I just said yea lets go home not sure I can pick it up a 5th time. After that I considered taking bags with me even if I don't need luggage just to stuff it with something soft and light just to give it some starting angle. I concede that I lack skill and experience but man T7, Tuareg and Transalp really do lie down flat.
I wish I were younger, but at 67 years old, the top heaviness of this bike is a major red flag.

I saw the video of the Scorpion STR on the triumph but how do feel about them on a big "true" adv bike? I have a tiger 900 rp and the rear tread pattern seems like the paddles would give forward traction but not too much side to side traction... i have the bridgestones a41's stock tires (i hate them) haha I've used anakees adventures wilds I think the str's would be mid ground between the advs and the wilds...
They're decent on thin sand, hard pack dirt and gravel. Great on tarmac. They're flat out dangerous on mud.
@@OAK_MTN nice yeah I kinda avoid mud at all costs and when I see myself having to ride in mud it's usually feet down and 5kph hahaha only time I actually felt safe was with the anakee wild but on tarmac it's 4000km and bye
Yea i felt the same way. In my opnion upgraded tyres for the T7 are a must. But all depends on the type of riding you'll be doing

Your outback dreams, well, I’d really suggest to go on a EXC/CRF instead, really. We’re not Orioli! Even with 100 Training courses.
Oh, and if you’re Vegan and Climate-Activist, try a bycicle instead, no, no joke. I think if you want to go offroad with a motorcycle, you’d be fit to do the same and harder on a MTB (no battery!) deep into the outback.
