  • After two years of COVID cancelations, the Stumpjumper's Desert 100 was a go! 2022 was the 50th anniversary of this iconic race and it had a record turn out.
This was our 8th time racing in the ADV class. The course is a grind, not particularly difficult but it is relentless. The track is covered in baby head rocks, silt, sand and whoops. There is no opportunity to sit and cruise along, it give you no chance to rest. The DNF rate is 30-50%. 2022 was the dustiest event I've ever been to. The first couple miles had people cruising along in first gear until the dust cloud started to let up.
Check out the previous ADV class races on our channel!

Well done Corey, very impressed with your skill level to get your T7 to the finish. That was a hard hit you and the bike took. That Camel ADV T7 is a true desert beast. 8th over place overall is very impressive considering you were racing just for the fun of it.👍👍👍

    • @CamelADV

Thanks for the encouragement. I was 8th in class, definitely not 8th overall! The top-tier dirtbike guys are cranking out 2 laps in about the most of us are doing one. Paul Neff was the overall winner (he's racing Dakar this year) and he got two laps done in about 5 mins longer than my one lap took.... that dude was flying.

@@CamelADV Firstly, sorry for spelling your name wrong. 8th in class is a good as 8th overall, don't sell yourself short your not a professional rider. What I watch was a very accomplished ride with excellent skills. Your riding a 200+kg bike not a dirt bike. I've been following you and Camel ADV for around two years. Keep up the great videos and the T7 products.👍

I missed this event so much over the last couple years. It's been the unofficial start of my riding season every year since I started coming down. We still have another few weeks or more until we can do much riding here so the 100 is always a great kick start to the year.

Cory, I have gone to using external batteries. A small attery bank in my chest pocket with a cable running up to my GoPro lasts all day. Certainly saves time.

    • @CamelADV

I normally do the same. The morning of the race, the external battery set-up was acting goofy so I swapped it out for regular batteries. It was pretty frustrating as I had used that set-up the week before in Moab without issue.

When I can buy some Pol Tarres level skill, I'll sell you mine ;)
90/100-21 Front and 140/80-18 Rear. They should be considered dirt only. They are DOT but last less than 1000 miles on the pavement and are quite squirrelly.

Great Job, way to keep grinding after that hard get off. What was the cause of the coolant leak, also how did the motor end up? Love your products, I have many of them on my T7.

One of the coolant lines running to oil cooler split when I hit the rock. Not sure about the motor health yet.

T7 lacks protection for sure. I dump my 890 everywhere and haven't had an issue.

I've crash the s&^t out of the T7 over the last 2.5 yrs and didn't have a problem until I did. I had a 790ADV, dropped in the rocks and cracked the tank. Every crash is different.

    • @oosteveo315
      @oosteveo315 2 роки тому

Very true. It just seems to me that the T7 plastic is hard and brittle whereas the 890 is more soft and supple like a dirtbike. They just seem to crash different imho

It's pretty crazy, this race has a 30-50% DNF rate but the ADV class DNFs always seems to be below the race average.

Absolutely love this video. Really great job. I’ve considered racing my 890 ADVR. I’m down in Southern California where we’ve got lots of desert and sand. Just curious what tires you used. I was looking at the Motoz desert HT.
