James, I have a notchback 1987 MCSS. YES the center console lid is also black on mine. I believe it’s set up that way to match the trim plate with the red stripes. I have also seen other cars with the burgundy/maroon lid, so it may have been a factory option. Word to the wise, those seats you have are the original factory style. No one makes them anymore as far as I know….AND I’VE BEEN SEARCHIN’ like Glenn Jones 😂! Even the OEM replacement seats from Mike’s Montes, Dixie Restoration and OPGI all have a more modern look and fabric to them. All three companies get their cloth replacement parts from one maker in Alabama called Auto Custom Carpets (ACC). They look and feel very nice, just slightly different from the original. Whatever you do, DO NOT use aerosol spray dye on your cloth materials. They will look nice, but feel stiff to the touch, as if you spilled clear liquid onto your seats. The aerosol dye will also bleed onto your lighter colored clothes. Your best bet is a concentrated liquid dye mixed in a spray water bottle. There are several brands out there, but Detail King looks pretty legit. You’ll have to do a few applications to get rid of the sun fading on your seats. Check out DetailKing.com carpet dye and their videos on UA-cam. I left this LONG ASS comment because I appreciate your videos and the content you provide us old school car lovers. Good luck with your build ✌️
Man you just spoke so many words into my day because I’ve been going through it. today trying to get this stuff to match. My Interior Guy been searching for the material I also went to my warehouse they didn’t have anything in stock as far as burgundy maroon you name its not in stock. So yeah I learned something today and your comment definitely told me what I’m going through it’s not just me. I posted a picture in my community section of the material that’s close enough check it out let me know what you think but that’s what I’m pretty much going with and Ima do the headliner the visors the seats and the rear deck lid. Now are usually don’t tell what I’m doing and tell him doing it but it says you hit it right on the nail. You know my plan now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
