  • Container fal of semi on freeway! Back with another assist for our buddy Jonas at Kutom tow. His customer needed the assistance of our rotator due to the space so we sent Alex in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator.
    This is for sure a job that could be done with a wrecker, but in very limited capacity. First, this is a 2 lane ramp. If you get in front of it to lift, then how does the semi back up under? And there is not enough room to T-bone it at a good angle. Possible, sure, but a ton more time and risk. The rotator is king to just show up, park, and get the job done fast.
    So fast, that this video is not even 20 minutes, but quick clearance is our specialty! What do you guys think? And if you REALLY want to support your favorite tow channel, become a member here: / @pepestowingservice

      Container wasn’t the issue. The whole trailer came off the truck. It could have happened with any type of trailer. Guy either had a faulty fifth wheel or more likely, he hooked up and didn’t ensure that the fifth wheel properly engaged and hooked around the king pin and it wasn’t 100% locked in.

    • @bendingneedles
      @bendingneedles 13 днів тому +2

      I get that the container wasn't the issue. Josh has many videos of accidents with containers not being loaded right or if they were loaded right, they end up being in accidents. I just keep out of their way on the road and give them the go ahead if they need to get in my lane by flashin my lights. The cool part is when i get flashing lights back lol..I have mad respect for truck drivers.

    • @LifewithJames
      @LifewithJames 12 днів тому

      @@bendingneedles I always like when people give a light flash. It’s hard to tell a lot of times if someone is holding back to let you over or if they’re just not paying attention. I’ve had times where they held back and ended up finally flashing their lights after a moment because they realized I couldn’t tell what they were doing and other times I’ve had people holding back and as soon as I went to change lanes, that’s when they decided they wanted to zoom zoom down the highway so I’m always cautious of cars.

    Super quick and easy with Big Flipper. Though I guess you'd need to do a lot of these to pay for the rotator! Could the other tow not do anything, so they passed it to Pepe's? I get a little confused by these ones where other tows are on scene.
    I was impressed the fifth wheel pin still worked. Clearly that wasn't what failed. Is it likely the latch on the original truck was undone or broke?
    Also who drove off with the trailer, was that the original disappearing driver?

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  13 днів тому +2

      Cute anecdote. Are you speaking for the entire industry when you say they've never caused issues? It's simple math. Chain if it's 1/2" is rated at 15,000lbs in a vertical if it's grade 100. Watch my videos. Use load cells. You can easily double that on a single pick point during the upright. You are in the industry, you know this weakens the chain EACH TIME. Just because something has been done a certain way it doesn't mean "it works". Granted it takes a lot to break chain but why on earth would you risk that when tools rated for this exist? And I've actually seen chain break twice in real life from other companies. Those highway 411 shows have it happen all the time. You use the correct tool for the job, no ifs ands or butts. No excuse.

    • @TowMan127
      @TowMan127 13 днів тому

      @@PepesTowingService I didn’t say “never” I’d definitely use the setup you have if I was a heavy operator and had my own truck. I’d prefer using equipment like that cause that’s who I am as an operator. Just saying that if can be done with chains as well.

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  13 днів тому +2

      I totally get where you are coming from, but I want to change the industry for the better and that logic is so bad and can get you killed or injured. Tow related injuries happen ALL the time. So much of it is preventable. One single link is holding up and lifting the entire container when you use them in the pockets. One link. Think about that. Of course it will get overloaded, even bent. Will it break the first time? Prob not. Not even 2 or 3. But how many times are you willing to risk it? We used to start fires with sticks and stones, but when's the last time you saw anyone do that? The point is specific tools are rated for and meant for specific jobs. Still running chains in containers in 2024 is just beyond ignorant. This isn't the 80's anymore.

    • @TowMan127
      @TowMan127 13 днів тому +2

      @@PepesTowingService I definitely agree with ya man. We’ve come along way with the tools in the industry. I’m always amazed with all the new stuff out. Just like how they have the rim slings and other synthetic products that are amazingly strong. Hopefully people can adapt to all the new stuff that makes it better and easier to get the jobs done safely, be safe out there and keep up the good work

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  13 днів тому +1

      Yes that's exactly it! To adapt and get better. A lot of older guys in my area are stuck in the same ways that they started 30 years and never evolved. The technology for rigging now is sooooo much more efficient, safe and stronger. Like these links, they are rated for this and designed for these jobs. On certain jobs like a burn job, ya chain is so much easier. But when you really get into formulas, working load limits and seen what I seen, it's just a no brainer to not use chain in these pockets. If we can eliminate the chance for failure and damage, it has to be done.

      Lmfao what a loser take. Are you new to the internet? Are you new to UA-cam? Reported for what. That's an exact still of Jonas touching the container. Only it's from the other side where it was dark. You're acting like it's a huge misrepresentation. Get a life

      @@PepesTowingService Don’t forget these ads are personalized based on search history and information bought by Google. Crazy how that works too.

      That's what I told another guy! These are targeted ads lmfao. I notice all the anti-Biden people spend so much of their free time watching "Biden fail" type videos, which skews their algorithm. The same with anti-trump people, opposite sides of the same coin and they blame me because their search history is catching up to them on my tow truck video lol.
