I survived being taken as a small child. A man pulled over and threw my friend in his car layered in black plastic trash bags. She was stunned and didn't move. I was not going to let him take my best friend and he was not going to put his hands on me. I was tiny. I made it because my family taught me to yell a very bad word to get peoples attention. Rape. I had no idea what it meant but I knew it was very bad. I was super wiggly. He couldn't get me in the car. When I screamed rape he broke from his trance. He looked around. That's when I grabbed my friend by the feet pulling her out of the car. She finally got up and began to help me help her. He began to pull her by the shoulders but I wouldn't let go of her feet. I was screaming rape and causing a scene. He decided to drive away. We ran. My friend lost her shoes. All she could think about was getting in trouble for losing her shoes. Her family didn't teach her what to do. I still remember what he looks like. The attack was so quick. He really was in a trance like state. He moved like a machine. He knew exactly what he wanted. We would be dead for sure. I can't imagine being murdered in elementary school. That would have ruined our families and destroyed our town. No they never caught the guy. I don't know why I was so brave. I just knew he was a bad guy and I wasn't going to let him do it.

Thank you. Anna Maria and I are 51 years old now. Our families still live across the street from each other. We both care for our elderly parents and disabled family members. Our families need us. It's not fair that he would have taken us away from them. He had no right. I've come to believe I must have a guardian angel because I've experienced a dangerous situation in every decade of my life. What about scenarios where potential kidnappers have guns and/or knives? In South Africa, this is the case most of the time. A police officer told me once NEVER to get into the car, no matter what. For those of you saying there will always be someone else, that isn't true. I was almost kidnapped twice as a child. The first time, my mom left 3yo me with the parent of a child I was playing with in the water at the beach while she moved our stuff to a different location. After she walked away, a man walked up and scooped me out of the water and walked away. I was confused because I didn't know him but I wasn't scared initially. When my mom came back for me, the lady told her that my dad came and got me.(Not her fault. She didn't know.) When we got out to the parking lot, he put me down and we walked out to his car. He got in the car weird. Instead of putting me in and then getting in, he got into the drivers seat. Then, he reached for me to put me in his car. At that moment, I heard my mom screaming my name so I turned to go to her. He grabbed my arm to stop me. That's when I got scared and tried to pull away. He couldn't pull me into the car (idk why because he could have just picked me back up) but I couldn't break his grip. He pulled the car door and then put his other arm through the window, switched hands, and held on to me as he started the car and slowly backed out of his parking spot. I was pulling and crying and I completely panicked because he wouldn't let me go to my mom. I kept hearing her scream my name and I couldn't see her. He slowly started driving in the lane of the parking area but he wouldn't let go. Finally, I saw her and then I started kicking the car and hitting his arm and scratching him and screaming for my mom while crying. She finally saw me and started screaming for help while running towards me. There was a police car nearby. The officer whoop whooped his siren and the man finally let go and drove off. Idk what happened to him after that but I ran to my mom and I remember her talking to the cops while I played with my sister. The point is, people do try to take you alone. I've also seen news stories of people being kidnapped by one individual.

Your best chance of survival, even if you're stabbed, is to remain at the point of where they're tying to take you. The first thing they'll say is "Don't scream", but scream and kick and bite as loud as you can. I'd rather be stabbed next to my car than taken, raped for two days and murdered.

      @vikkbiff6029 21 день тому +1

many attackers will run after stabbing or shooting you especially because they know a gun makes a lot of noise.
the idea of resisting even against an armed attacker is that if they injure you, you still have a better chance of survival because you will be found by emergency personnel and treated.
if you're injured and in an unfamiliar place away from town you don't have nearly the chance of being found and treated for injuries.
of course this doesn't mean that a truly bent mind couldn't kill you and stuff your body in their trunk.
but yes always fight and resist no matter what

I was brought up in the worst town, hackney, London. My mother sent me to school over 10 miles away and from age 7 I had to travel by myself. She told me what to do if I was ever attacked. I was vulnerable being so young anyway but added to that, I'm Indian and very short, so at 7 I probably looked 5..an easy target, on my way home one day, a flashy yellow sports car pulled up beside me and then man screamed at me angrily to get in the car, I was stunned, when you are in shock, you either freeze or fly. In one sit second, I was thinking I have to obey an adult, he's angry, I should do what he says, this is typical of what a 7 yr old mind will think if you don't train that out of them. Suddenly, I unfroze, remembering what my mother told me, scream, shout, run, knock on doors of the particular streets she told me I would be safe to knock on. The street where he stopped was not a busy one, it gets lonelier the further you go to my home, perfect spot to kidnap someone. But I ran, fast, in hindsight, I should have ran in the opposite direction I came from as it was a high street, bus stops, there are people travelling up and down by foot and car, he would have had to get out his car and get me into the car because he couldn't turn the car around. As it was, I didn't have that thinking time, and I ran towards my home where he could easily have followed me in the car and tried worse. But I was lucky, my screaming and running scared him off, he didn't follow. Another time, I got home from college, someone was lurking outside in the dark, I'm 5ft and he was over 6 ft, he waited until I opened the door to my flat, as I turned around to close the door, I saw his face in between the gap of the door, he pushed the door with force, which hit me in the face, I fell, he opened the door wider, I quickly got up, he then pushed my one shoulder to the ground and went down on my knees, he was stronger than me, I got hold of the front door he was trying to close, I grabbed it, my knuckles were jammed in the door twice but I didn't let go. Then I screamed, loudest I ever could, he was shouting at me to shut up, I refused, I just kept screaming and screaming, he let go, took my purse and ran out. All in under 30 seconds because then my house alarm went off. I was so angry that as he ran out , I had run after him still screaming, first few seconds I tried to look for him outside, still screaming but he had run off. I should have made myself safe after he left but anger took over. I was lucky again. I also had another incident on a bus after work one day, 2 men rolled up multiple news papers and threw it at my head, I turned around and told them off, after that I got a barrage of abuse, that they will kill me, I wasn't leaving the bus alive, the bus was completely full of people, so packed up people were standing and not one of them got me help. Being used to living in a dangerous area, I refused to get off the bus, they said they'd put me in a body bag, they would beat my boyfriend up, to which, the man sitting next to be got up and got off the bus in fright, with people standing up, they refused to sit next to me in fear they would be treated the same way. We reached a very busy train station stop and I could hear them getting up, I knew to be ready for something but what? As they passed my seat, they spat in my face and one raised his arm, but before it hit me I hit him in the face with all could muster from a seated position, it was the worst position I could be in, I counted my lucky stars when they ran off the bus, but everything was in slow motion I knew something more was coming, but what? They smashed the bus window into my face, and ran off, never to be found. I did have shards of tiny glass in my face. I was shaken up a little bit again, v angry that women are targeted constantly in London. Everyone came to my aid once they ran off but too little too late, they could have killed me and 40 plus people would have just put their heads down! Growing up in a violent area, made me strong, I have helped many women in the streets against violent attackers, druggies, drunks, because I could see their fear, shocked into being frozen, unable to speak or flee, I've never ever stood by and watched someone get attacked without helping them. I seem grown men, taller than my 5 ft, walk away, look away, pretend they could not hear or see women being attacked. I'm always left disgusted with society.

I’ve always been feisty myself and refuse to walk away from someone else who is in trouble, eventhough I look as strong as a wet noodle. I wonder if people who have been on the receiving end of that crap are more likely to stand up for others in that situation. One of the biggest things, imho, that’s saved my butt is that I can be extremely loud when need be. Something about screaming as much nonsense as possible, as loudly as possible. Really draws attention they don’t want. One of the scariest was getting jumped from behind while walking home from work. After a graveyard shift I specifically said I wasn’t available for for safety reasons. They were caught off guard when I didn’t immediately start reacting. I waited just a brief moment to see if they’d loosen their grip long enough to flip me over or pick me up. And they did. And that’s when I went nuts & they ran off muttering about what a crazy bee I am. Better crazy than dead. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Excellent tips here! Does anyone have any suggestions in regards to personal safety classes when you have severe PTSD & when triggered automatically snap into fight mode? I’d feel so much better knowing I had that training but I don’t want to flip out on the poor instructor. 😊

the problem is that in that moment, when u're attacked (grabbed, dragged, etc) in a split second, the fear takes over the victim. u think u could use ur strength to fight back, but honestly u most probably strength in ur limbs subconsciously, because of the panic or whatever fear that takes over ur muscle/brain. I don't know if knowing techniques will work to help overcome fear in a split second of an attack but i hope it does.

Now, if someone you know attacks you, that's a different matter because if you've previously had positive experiences with them, it will take your mind more time to shift to danger mode but it still can. You just have to prepare in advance so that your mind will make the shift. 👍

The guy then rapidly approached me and grabbed me in the crotch area. I went straight into fight mode. The fear was totally gone. There was a wooded area next to the sidewalk, and I knew that I couldn't let him take me there. I was only 5'2" and 105 lbs, and he was 5'11" and 180lbs. I felt such a rage at this guy for grabbing me ! I amazed myself with my response and I got away. This is something that should be mandatory for young girls to learn, just like school! It honestly should be a part of the schooling! Self defense is SO important to learn in this dangerous world. The only thing he didn't talk about though is when the attacker has a weapon, that is something that in many many cases just paralysis the victim and makes them too afraid to defend themselves, what do you do when the person has a gun for example. But we all know that the first rule in these situations is to NEVER let them take you to a second location because then you've increased your chances of not surviving by probably 90%. I'm sure it's easier said than done but you should rather fight for your life and possibly get injured or worse in that first location then to let them take you away. I say it's at least better to possibly lose your life fighting them then whatever else awaits you when they take you away.

First step is to prevent the incident in the first place - be aware of your surroundings, only use 1 side of your headphones/earbuds, put down the effing cellphone.
Second, paranoia saves lives. It is unfortunate, but we need to make choices based on the knowledge that rapists, kidnappers, murderers... get a slap on the wrist and are turned loose on society to repeat their crimes. Yes, we *SHOULD* be able to safely drive alone at night & stop for gas if we need to, run/jog/exercise whenever & wherever is appropriate, wear what we are comfortable in; sadly, there are monsters out there who take those decisions as an open invitation. Every woman on the planet is a target, a potential victim. We *need* to make safe choices and teach our daughters to do the same. Insisting on the right of way when we're driving causes accidents; insisting on the right to make unsafe choices as though we are somehow special and/or immune from being attacked causes headlines.
Yes, learning self defense is great. Another viable option is a Security 9, a Glock 19... Escaping a potential attacker is lifesaving for *you*, but he is still free and looking for his next victim. The solution many of us who must drive at night (medical professionals, first responders, store or factory workers...) have been forced into is to *safely and legally* carry a firearm (that we have been thoroughly trained in) for personal protection. Priority 1, should I ever find myself in that situation (again) is *always* to get home safely to my family; but I also feel a sense of responsibility to the other women & girls in my community, so making sure the attacker is stopped is my secondary goal.

Having watched the video and read the comments, I have two points to make.
Point number 1: For those who always have problems for solutions, saying what if and this and that...your fears are valid but how about you brainstorm possible solutions for the problems you're coming up with?
These people have come up with possible solutions for a one man attack. It would not always work but it is something. Better to be armed with some knowledge and feel a bit adequate about fending attack than to be totally helpless and paralyzed in the moment.
Let's be solution minded huh? Think this information is inadequate? Then you might just be the solution we're all searching for.
Point number 2: I'd rather whatever horrors I face occur in public than in some basement somewhere.
A colleague of mine was almost kidnaped on her way back from work. She thought to herself, I'd rather die in public and have my family see my corpse than have them forever wonder what happened to me and because of that thought, she jumped out of the moving vehicle and thankfully, she survived. She was hospitalized for weeks but she survived.
In summary, if you can resist going to a second location, do so. No matter the outcome.

I've trained in martial arts for years and am an instructor. Disagree with two of his suggestions....that if the woman is being grabbed and being pulled, she shouldn't let her body go forward towards the attacker. If the woman trains correctly in that scenario, she can land a devastating elbow and/or punch to the face or even a kick to the growing with all that momentum being built up instead of trying to pull and break free opposing force. I do like the wrist release to break free however as an option as we train that technique too. Second....is Eve was yelling HELP, HELP. NEVER yell help. Now adays people hear help and maybe might get someone or two to come running.. Instead yell FIRE FIRE! People hear that and they come running! The last technique of willingly falling to the ground, only do that as the last resort!! He did say if she slipping, to do that. The risk is that if you're not able to land good strong effective kicks from the ground or even miss, the attacked could quickly get on top of you. Staying on your feet to fight is always best!

Gotta love the rejection of personal responsibility there at the beginning. “Wearing whatever you want, drinking whatever you want and hanging with whoever you want” gets you into these situations in the first place. Otherwise you wouldn’t have to use any of these self defense techniques to begin with, unless you get attacked unprovoked. A lot of people get themselves into these dangerous scenarios with lack of common sense. All the time I’m still hearing in the news about women going out alone late at night, people hanging around in their cars early morning/late night and getting shot, talking with sketchy strangers, etc. If you’re going to teach/follow safety lessons, don’t go halfway.

Wow very good. This is helpful especially if it's 1 kidnapper, if it's multiple.....then.......fight still.
