I'm looking into getting the Gracie defence system in my school since I work in a low income area. I may have to call it self-defence cub or something. haha. Fingers crossed!!!

      @tired af Hmmmm, Training like that usually starts with basic exercises and stamina building. Some gym work might help, but don't strain your self too much. Most ppl have little/no endurance, so I would focus on stamina building. It's not necessary, but it'll boost your confidence, which is a large part of self-defence. Good luck!

    • @cathalodiubhain5739
      @cathalodiubhain5739 3 роки тому

      @@Joel-nx9ev self defense classes, most classes teach you that, in the event you are attacked walking in the dark, you should utilize eye pokes, groin kicks, and other fast, powerful, debilitating strikes. This is completely useless and borderline dangerous. First off, when your body is acting on instinct, you absolutely will not remember what strike you’re supposed to utilize in what scenario. It takes years and years of repetition to confidently be able to keep your cool in a physical altercation. Assuming that you can take one seminar over the weekend and leave thinking that you can handle yourself in a physical altercation with an opponent is absolutely asinine. In fact, 99% of scenarios won’t even resemble what you learn in class. Even if you somehow do manage you strike your assailant in the eye or kick him right in the balls, there is absolutely no reason they would let you go. In fact, things like that are more likely to make your assailant strike you harder, as it will just piss them off. This is because, despite all the experience your instructor has, there is a difference between causing someone to not want to fight anymore and causing someone to not be able to fight anymore. If you genuinely care about your safety, learn to fight. There is a difference between defending yourself and fighting. Self defense is labeled as some sort of passive, high-road alternative to fighting, but it is also the most useless. If you are in a fight, then you are fighting for your life and nothing less. You aren’t just defending yourself. The most effective martial arts at taking care of this are Jiu Jitsu, boxing, muay thai and kickboxing. And they take years to perfect, not weekends. And the only dumdums as you so put it are those that believe these self defense classes will save their lives.

    This is a great way to teach about self defense in a fun way. I never want to watch a self defense video but I have to. The world is a messed up place.

    This was such an amazing segment. Honestly, I never thought I'd have the strength to defend myself in a scary situation, but seeing Eve teach Lilly, and Lilly executing successfully has removed some of my skepticism about this!

      I have disliked it too because women´s self defense is a lie (go and train in mixed groups, you will see after a few classes that there is a huge difference and less bs can be sold). And if you go to the classes of real self defense instructors, not martial artists who sells their own system (bjj, kick box or krav maga that became a joke now) you will see the difference.
      2. This behavior on trainings is unacceptable. If any of my training partner would behave like this and I have no possibility to change, then I would leave. I have done it already once, standing up and leaving in the middle of the class and from next time the other instructor took care to put me together with people who worked and did not have a running mouth. I know that this video is for the show but shows a very bad example to women that this behavior would be ok. I have seen it several times and very annoying when you go to train but the señorita is chatting.
      3. several moves will not work as it is shown.

      @@morgana2006freemail You're 100% right. I box and am also a Muay thai fighter and a few years back my GF started to do women's self defense classes. She was showing me some of the defense moves after a few weeks of training. I knew something was up to rehearsed and staged looking. So I went down to check it out it was just a big con all about money. The instructor never had a fight or stepped into a ring in his life. The following week my GF and 4 other girls started to train in our boxing club and love it. Two compete and are pretty good fighters the other train hard and spar and they absolutely love it. Club is closed now due to lockdown

      @tired af If you need to strengthen your bones eating a lot of veg and high calcium foods such as kale, spinach and dairy foods. Get lots of vitamin d and k which again comes in leafy greens. Start off with weight bearing exercises such as walking, hill walking, resistance bands and do light weights, and then maybe tai chi. Make sure you start off very slow and ask your doctor before you start.

      @tired af I don't eat dairy myself I have Crohn's disease. i doe eat lots of veg and fruit. Your best bet would be see a dietician and explain your situation.
