Great video. Definitely cleared some stuff up on some confusing parts. I've already made 2 of my own for my parents
Oh good! I’m glad to hear. I’d love to see pictures of them. My facebook and email are in the description.
Made 2 already, 1 wood burned and the other just stained for my Daughters.
What a great gift
Going to make one for my fathers 90th birthday.
Cant wait to give it to him
Thanks for the great Ideas
😁
That is awesome! Glad I can help! Feel free to send me pics on my Facebook page. I like seeing all the different tales on these.
Awesome video. Thanks
Fantastic, Andy! Thanks for all the tips! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you! You do the same.
Adding hours for you.🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔 Thanks for this video, I will need to start making these whiskey taps to supplement my grocery allowance as the government has taken half of my food stamps away. I am 66 years old just had a triple bypass, my left hand is not working properly since the operation and I was one of the hotshot guitar players in Denver with 30 guitars that I can't play anymore. Thanks again and in a couple summers I"ll try to do my own UA-cam channel showing how I paint psychedelic guitars. You've been like a guardian angel showing me how to do these whiskey taps. Thanks again, your constant fan, Jim
Thank you Jim! Where can I see your psychedelic guitars? I’m very interested as I love psychedelic art!
Thank you for the kind words you ever have questions message me on Facebook or email me
@@epeiusgarage I traced five guitars, a Les Paul, an Explorer, SG, Telecaster and Stratocaster on to MDF and using the cutouts as templates. I built an art studio just like Kathleen Miller from YT (Kathleen Miller Paint Pouring )Channel. I will practice her techniques this summer using the MDF blanks as canvases. I will definitely send some pictures of the artwork once I feel confident that I have mastered the technique. The studio is ready but I'm still fighting this major depression from the open heart surgery. Thanks again for showing me how to make those whiskey decanters. I will be watching all of your future and past UA-cam adventures. Jim Anthony - Denver CO.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Congrats on 1K subscribers! Great video - it's definitely helpful to get the lessons learned after making so many.
Thank you Jim! I think you’ve been here since the beginning. I appreciate it. Missed you at the market last weekend.
Congratulations on reaching your 1000 subs milestone! I always enjoy your videos and learn something new.
Thank you Michael! I really do appreciate that.
For the algo!!! Congrats on 1k glad to have found you.
Thank you! I appreciate that and hope you enjoy what I’m uploading
Thank you for a great video, Andy.
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it!
I just made some of these, and one thing I can suggest is, when you drill the glass, drill SLOWLY! If you go fast the glass can splinter and shard on the inside of the block, and those pieces are larger than the hole you drill, and it’s a pain to get them out.
I’ve had no issues. I use a multi step high pressure rinse. Than after I apply the spouts I leak test then and do another rinse. I have a procedure I go by
Congratulations on the 1k you can only go up from here. Thanks for the overview. I still think this is your best one Iv seen you make yet. Ya you were right about the water.
Thanks brother! You’ve been a huge help with my channel. Forever grateful!👊
@@epeiusgarage always here for you man! Keep up the hard work. Your channel is going places
Great instructions. I've been looking for something new to try and I really like these.
Thank you Greg! I’m glad you liked it and thanks for watching. Did you see the first video on this as well?
@epeiusgarage I did. I'm obsessed with lights so I'm going to try and work the led strip light between the frame and the glass block. I'll tag you in the video if I get one worthy to show.
@@greghoffman6417 awesome idea! Feel free to message my on Facebook or Instagram. I’ve sold Over 40 of these now
Congrats on 1k subs, brother! Looking good
Hey, thank you very much!
Can you make a video showing you doo complete process? These are beautiful. Marcia Caston
I did. This was the follow up. I have a play list with all the videos regarding the tap.
Wow!
Woww😍😍 .. gotcha..thankyou so much..
Your welcome! Thank you!
How did you go about cleaning the inside of the glass block? I love this and will be trying to make a few myself.
So I showed it in the video but I first use a hose set on high power stream. Flush it really good. Then after the spout is set and cured I perform a leak test and final rinse. Then I give a look holding it up to light for anything that might be left.
You have to perform your QA checks👍
I'm going to build these. my question, is there anywhere in particular where you get the spouts from?
I'm in Australia and no doubt wont have the same stores to get from. but ideas where to look would be apricated
I order mine on Amazon. I linked everything I use in the description. Check it out there. Thanks for watching
I've watched your videos numerous times and followed your instructions to make a whiskey decanter. I've gone through 2 glass blocks because after so much time passes [days/weeks] they develop a crack on each side of the spigot. HOW DO I PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING?
Not sure how. I never have
That 1/8" breather hole,, can you show where it is on a final product, and do you plug it up when not in use??
I think I show it in one of the other follow up videos. There’s a whole series of these. It’s any where up top same label as the stopper hole.
May I ask a question please, how do you remove the glass section that falls in when you cut the holes in the glass blocks.
Kind regards
Of course! I cover it in one of the follow up videos. Basically I rinse it and make sure the larger hole is on the bottom. The piece always comes right out. I’ve never had an issue.
Hope that helps!
Andy
Instead of putting the stopper hole on the side, could you do it on the top corner? To fill the decanter you just lay it on its back.
You mean right on top, on the corner? I don’t see why not.
I gave the idea, you take it and run with it. It’s yours! 😁👍
How do you get the block to not move around in the frame when all completed? Won't it want to wiggle out while moving it or when you turn the knob?
No issues, mine sits in there with very little space and it works great. It’s pretty heavy and the weight is enough
What kind of spigot do you use? Where can I get the spigots? Thanks.
I link everything in the description. It’s a stainless steel food grade spigot
How is the Glass Cube secured into the wooden frame ....sorry wasnt mentioned ....from Australia ...
Hey, thanks for watching! The cube just sits in there. I’ve had no need to secure it. Plus makes easy to remove from either side.
I'm curious did you put anything inside the wood frame that helped keep the glass more snug inside....or from slipping out?
No, it’s a nice snug fit and the weight alone is plenty to keep it there. Even if there is a little room it does not move around. I’ll be putting out another follow up video soon that covers placing the hole on the frame
@@epeiusgarage Awesome....thanks!
How far down the spout do you put the silicone,, won't the whiskey eat through the silicone??
The whiskey will not eat through it as I made sure the silicone i used will hold up to Ethanol.
Great video, and product… how do you attach glass to the wood?
Thank you very much! I don’t attach it, it just sits in there. Works very well
@@epeiusgarage thank you
and are you using 6 x 6 blocks or 8x8 blocks
I see you have shims linked. You must make all the frames the same size and then use the shims to tighten up the block in the frame? Obviously the blocks are a little inconsistent in size.
The linked shims are just something I use a lot and recommend having. Not for this project necessarily. The blocks I’ve used are very consistent. I made templates to set up my saw the same every time. See my latest update video. It’s linked and I talk about it. Hope that helps
@@epeiusgarage Thanks for the reply. I have made a couple of these and I have found that the blocks vary enough that they are not always snug or too snug. I do measure every one and have to adjust the size of the box sometimes. I like them to be snug so they don't easily slide out. I may be too picky :). Most times if I need to snug them up I use self adhesive felt and line the inside of the box so that the block can still be removed if need be, but not easily slide out if someone picks it up and tilts it. I suppose the stopper will prevent them from sliding out.
@@31ford81 I’ve been lucky. Mine have all been snug. The felt on the inside is a good idea. Stay safe and keep making stuff!!👍
Wanted to see if you have any other styles of blocks available to use with this project? Looking for an iceberg, wave or clear style block. Do you have a page that somebody can place an order for your items, or is everything done at the market.
Hi, I do not have any other styles of blocks. Actually I’m almost out now. I’ll need to find another source once these run dry. Sorry
@@epeiusgarage Do you have a page that I can look at to get pricing, as I might want to order one for a friend.
@@kirklentowicz3994 I sell them on Etsy. If you go to the video description I have it linked. Takes you right to it. I also linked pretty much everything you need to make one if that’s what you were wanting to do
Do you use “Food Safe Silicone”? If so, do you have a link for that as well?
Once the silicone is cured it’s “food safe” I ensured it would hold up to ethanol. Here is a link to FDA silicone.
amzn.to/4awMRqF
lol, that’s the same silicone I found. Recently, I was also looking not for silicone but a food safe two part epoxy. Turns out that the two part Gorilla Glue, when cured, is food safe.
You said you added a link about making decanter, where is it I don't see it
It’s linked, in the description. It’s labeled first whiskey tap video I think. I’ll double check but should be there
Hey Andy, how do you know where and what size hole in the frame for the stopper?
Hey Mark, so I kinda figured out measurements I use now every time. I put a 1-1/4” hole in the frame about 1-1/2” down from top and 1-1/4 in from the front.
Then on my glass I mark the hole 1-1/4” down and 1-1/4” in.
Best way to find yours is place your hole in the frame first before assembly then when your cutting holes in the glass figure out where you need it based off of the frame. Hope this helps
@@epeiusgarage awesome, thank you for the quick reply. Starting construction tomorrow.
@@marklecy sweet! Send me pics on Instagram or Facebook when you get it done. Seen some cool ones folks have made
What size boards are you starting with?? 1x6?
yes, but depends on the glass block size
Can I ask you a question.
What do you sell them for.
In person I sell them for $110.00 on line they are $130.00
are you using 3" or4" blocks?
My blocks are 5-3/4” x 5-3/4”
Have you ever made one with a beer tap (shank) instead of a valve?
I have not, but I think I’ve seen some variations on Etsy I think.
I'm going to try something similar with a beer tap. Thx for your great video
@@emilediou5371 yeah? send me pics when you do!! Your welcome and thanks for watching
What type of stopper is used?
Hey Joe,
I linked everything I use in the description but you can pretty much use any wine stopper you like. Just make sure to drill the hole 18mm
ok I gotta ask, how do you assemble the spigot inside the glass?
Just silicone. If you watch the first video I think I cover it. You can also message me on Facebook.
Have to ensure you’re using good safe silicone though
@@klongfritz yes, when it cures it’s safe and holds up to ethanol.
Loved this video!
I made 2 ,on each of which I filed a short slot (1/8" x 1/8") on opposite sides of the spicket opening.
Assembling, slip nut through slot, silicone on spicket washer and threads.assemble with screw driver
@@gregwilson4982 thank you. That’s awesome! Send me pictures or video. I might do another follow up video and could show your idea
Id like to purchase one. How much?

I sell them on my Etsy page. I’m almost out of the vintage glass. Here’s a link and thanks for watching

Not sure how you make the hole for the stopper. You need to include that in the video. Get a little more detailed on how
Great idea! I’m thinking of doing a live video to answer questions folks might have.
