Queen Cards- Beekeeping Records

- These cards are what I've came up with to hopefully help me be a better beekeeper and Queen breeder.
I have all the best intentions when it comes to record keeping, but I always seem to slack off and not keep it up to standards. Ian Steppler uses a card system and his definitely inspired me to make these.
Now we just need to see how they weather and what else I want to change. I'm looking forward to next year!

Love it Gus, thanks for sharing 👍
I'm too small scale for the moment to need something like this, for now just notes, my videos and memory are enough. But it's definitely something something I will need soon. Was aware of Ian's cards (contacted him about them) and now that I have seen yours I can take elements from you both and combine them in a way that works for me. Thank you 🙂
Excellent work
And that’s exactly the point, do what works!
I like this idea and need to try this myself
Great info! I like the push pin idea so you can flip it over without needing to have a screw driver handy. Unless you wired it to a screw on the box so you could flip it over easily. As always thanks for sharing!
I did a very, very poor job this first year. I need to do much better this next season. Thank you for another informative video Gus.👍
Nice! Those are a great idea to select breeder stock. Thanks for sharing ☺️
You said you made a bunch. I wouldn't mind giving some cards a try at my bee yards. I run about 80 hives. I would be happy to pay a reasonable price

Very practical sir. Thank you for sharing!
Those look awesome Gus! If I had em I think I'd get those little plastic card things kind of like what you get in a wallet. You could stick a stapler inside and staple it to the hive that way you can easily slide the card in and out.
Those look great. Record keeping is easy to let slide. I used to write on inner covers. But now have changed to migratory lids. I even put a piece of white flashing on some. But the sun even fades the extreme sharpies.
In yard at the moment assessment, it sure works for me. And the best thing is no note books! :)
There it is!
Looks like a nice system. I have been trying to track queen info for a couple of years. I have not found a good way yet, this might be it.
Propolis production rating, seems to be getting more and more attention.
Yeah I’m glad to see it getting some focus. It’s very important to me
Gus you should have a lot of those printed up and sell them at Hive Life. I know I would purchase them its a great idea.
Great work, can you post a word file for a layout template?
I don’t have one
Color code 2nd side so it will be readily apparent if card has been flipped?
Do you attach them to the outside of the hive? Does the Sharpe hold up on there to the weather?
Yes the outside. On the markers idk yet, but should by this time next year.
@@gusmitchellcranesnesthoney6529 this year I took really detailed notes on every inspection. I quickly found out that was too much detail. This card makes a lot of sense. Just enough detail to help guide best practices.
💳 👍 Thanks
