The demands of the industry is the biggest problem for bands. Friction between band members is understandable considering they spend more time together touring, recording etc than with their respective families. Fame is certainly not as great as most people think it is. RIP Randy and Glen.
The vocal in a song like Take it to the Limit is an extremely difficult one to achieve. Especially night after night and when a singer isn't feeling quite up to it for whatever reason. As a singer gets older the falsetto will eventually leave the body so to speak, and there is a point where they need to lower the octave in order to get through a song. That would never work in Randy's case because we all want to hear the song up to the standard it was first presented. Randy was a great musician who should be appreciated and he had a great, great song for all time but it was also his undoing. I would guess that as time has passed the other members of this great band can now relate to this.

Since this video was about Randy and his time with the Eagles, I'll just stick to that . I wasn't there in the trenches with the band so I only know what I've read, and seen in interviews with the Eagles . However as far as Randy and Take It To The Limit, to me that will always be his signature song. As for the feelings of retiring the song due to Randy's departure ? This one is a half for and a half not. The for is that even though it's Randy's extraordinary voice, the song does belong to the band. Yet, Every time I hear it, Randy always comes to mind making it his song and will always state that Randy was and is still very much a part of the Eagles regardless of what form . When it comes to bands that we grew up with , originals always stick out and some just say it's not the same, and it's not. I do however admire those that carry on with the band because it not only keeps the originals alive, it also does the same with their music.
Pretty much all the bands at the time suffered from POOR MANAGMENT! Mostly from back taxes that the managers neglected. Also from not soothing ruffeld feather in the bands and giveing them time to recuperate.
It's AI, and the "author" did not want to bother to edit it, which is quite simple to do- We always edit the AI whenever we use it in order to sound original and credible!
I’m not in any way trying to be rude with my question. I just don’t know whether this is standard equipment in your field. Do you have a sound wave computer program. Can you conduct the same analysis as Fil at wings of Pegasus ? My lip laptop broke. This is my son’s iPad, and I have zero idea how to copy and paste the url. Even if you don’t have that equipment, if you listen you can tell the difference. Search take it to the limit live, then that will bring up Randy singing it from a 1977 live show. It is flawless. It’s beautiful. It’s also a fake. It’s been remastered when it’s auto tune. Go back to your search videos and find the one where Randy is wearing a white printed t-shirt. It’s still great, but there is a distinct difference.
Correct. Randy Meisner always sang the song. Take it to the limit was sang by Randy early on in the concert as usual. It was not included In the encode that night in Knoxville. What Frey and Henley said in the documentary was bs. Having not been well that night, and having already been out for two escorts, he simply refused a third.
I heard that, too. In fact, in the next days newspaper, the critic listed the songs played, and there it was, right in the middle of the set list as always.
Apparently it was played in the encore. When they went backstage he said he didn’t want to sing it and Frey got pissed. Frey had said the people come to hear the song. He did sing it.
The problem with the Eagles was that Don Henley and Glen Frey were both bullies and that is what caused the problems. Same with Don Felder,he left because of the others as well. And Don Henley had his biggest hit about his relationship with Stevie Nicks,or should I say his loss of her in his life, and it didn't work because she had seen a side of him that only the other band members had seen and heard. And I will leave you with this thought, the greatest are the sum of their parts, not a single person, and paid workers. The Beatles were drifting apart before they did Sgt Peppers but held it together for their own sake, and for the amount of albums that they have made that were all top 10 except the first. The Eagles were very good, but the personalities of the band were, in some cases, over the top, and if he was physically compromised, it would have been worse because of Frey and Henley. Oh,and one more thing, you don't know what someone is really like until you are forced to live with them. And I am sure that there are plenty of people who know what I mean.
Perhaps when a band reaches a certain level of fame, they start feeling the strain of always being around each other touring and recording, and tension develops.
Wow , you had alot to say there , Frey n Henley ego driven for sure , Frey earlier, Henley later , but it was Freys band in the long run , so he threw the are,.
@@alwittenberg6282 Glenn's son joined and ended up leaving cause Henley's a selfish pr*** and a bully. Didn't want to pay him properly and acknowledge his contribution. Without Frey, Henley's not that much.
Randy should've left a huge impression on Glens left eye socket. Glen bullied him beyond anything I'd ever heard of. You bully me, you get the black eye. Rip. Randy Miesner
The more I learn over these last several years - I can't help but conclude that Glen Frey and Don Henley are just terrible human beings - sad - but the evidence seems to be over-whelming and from numerous sources. I've always liked Randy Meisner's music - especially in Poco - I just hate it when band members can't get along and break up - the fans are forever stuck in a "what might have been" mindset.
@@diannclemens6847 yeah but I imagine Glenn would still pronounce his own name the same. This is a crappy narration delivered by AI. The robot also pronounces Bernie Leadon's name wrong.
When I was a kid in the late 70's, a cousin of mine made me promise not to try cocaine. He said I'd like it too much, that is would ruin me. I took that speech to heart and never went near it. it was good advise, and stories like this one with the Eagles remind me of that. It ruined a lot of good people.
Me myself is a die hard eagles din Henley fan,I honestly believe god rest the bloke, but Frey was the impossible bloke, to me he always thought he was the biggest eagle, Frey didn’t like any capable guitarists in that band, that took the spotlight, who looked bigger and outshone him, Meisner, felder , even leadon , Glenn had problems with them all, even Joe Walsh and don henley had issues with him, but when it came to the crunch Henley always stood by his demands, he wanted to always be the captain of the ship, I thought , just let him be the boss man, and except it, and all will be fine, the last album they done, the long run, Glenn was evil to everyone, as Glenn said on there first reform gig, just to get the record straight, we never broke up, we just took a 16 year vacation, and he said it, so it was, and just to finish off this long paragraph, whatever gigs and line up plans there having,,, they need felder back, eagles will never be the same without felder and Walsh together, they were magical and so pretty to the ears, 😔😔👍
Using Chicago as analogy is not a good comparison. They had their own problems from when Terry Kath died to when David Foster came on the scene. Foster and Peter Cetera turned Chicago away from their brass section classical music, jazz and R&B, and more to pop music to suit Peter Cetera's voice. The Eagles without Randy and Don Felder are just a cover band cashing in to suit Frey and Henley's avarice for money.
This vid is full of people completely unrelated to the story....who the f_ck are the guys in the band photo at 2:38??? The narrative is crap. The narrator spends half the time talking about what they're going to talk about instead of providing details. And who're Glenn Fraey and Bernie Lee-a-don? A waste of 20 mins
The Knoxville incident is a prime example of the autocratic, success obsessed Glen Frey. After a successful night's performance, how much difference would it make if the band didn't perform TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT as the encore? A few grumbling fans as they leave the venue? They were all doing a lot of coke, booze and whatever their sexual appetites required on a long tour. If Randy's voice is shot, a respectful bandleader would've said; 'no problem man, we'll give 'em something else' To Frey to demand Meisner do the song and insist that he hit all the notes is just; well, would you like to have a prick like that as your leader? Randy was a sensitive guy from Nebraska. Glen was a wise ass with attitude from Detroit.
I would not doubt it if Henley and Frye didn’t purposely push Randy out of the band so they could hire a bass player for cheaper. Don and Glen love money
I have been in the Business for 55 years and as a Drummer/Vocalist. My experience with egomaniac Musicians runs deep. Some of these Premadona types think they are the only ones who ever picked up a guitar! Had a High school bandmate who probably has a 100 tune cover song list. At a class reunion, he wouldn't let me sit in for a few songs. So afraid that I would show him up as a better Singer. At age 65, he still plays shitty little Bars for no money. I think this disease hits Guitar players and Singers more than other Players. They have 'DUMB DRUMMER' SYNDROME !!! WELL, THIS DUMB DRUMMER OWNS 78 COPYRIGHTS ON ORIGINAL SONGS THAT HAVE BEEN ON RADIO, AND PERFORMS AT NICER VENUES LIKE CASINOS, CRUISE SHIPS, ETC.. BANDS ARE A TEAM SPORT PEOPLE!! 😎👍🇺🇸
Just my opinion, but if they could back time and take a page out of Coby Bryant’s rule book, things would be different. All because you can turn a small, but incredibly gifted band into arguably in their own genre equal to Led Zeppelin, that in my opinion was the greatest band in my lifetime.kobe went directly from high school into the nba. As his career progressed, he saw leaving it all on the court was not the best route for he and his family. Kobe did not know how to take care of his business and large wealth, so he quietly began taking night courses in business. He needed to work on his foot work, so took ballet classes with 6 to 8 yr olds. I believe if they had hired an independent HR firm, differences could have been handled for what they were, business decisions, instead of what they became, personal resentments, don and glen taking control and dictating how things were going to be instead adherence to signed contracts. No yelling, cursing and fists flying. Also, look at glen Frey .. pronounced fry .. pictures from mid to late 70s. He has terrible dark circles under his eyes. He was extremely ill, which may have affected his thoughts and behavior. He suffered from the autoimmune disease rheumatoid arthritis , which is not arthritis. I also have it. For whatever reason, the body thinks the synovial fluid in the joints is a virus, etc. the body over produces white blood cells, which kill off the red blood cells, and the red blood cells, instead of being filtered from the liver out of the body, the interior components dump that unhealthy rbc debris into the blood stream. It causes inflammation all throughout the body, especially in the joints causing them to look arthritic. It is a much more serious disease, and an invisible one, like type 1 diabetes, which is also an autoimmune disease. But the worst part is, you cannot drink alcohol or take certain drugs, anything the liver processes. And the disease is 100% fatal. There is no cure, only treatment. From the videos and photos, I don’t think he’d been diagnosed in the 70s. It is painful and you walk around feeling like you have the flu all the time. Stress can cause it to flare, and that’s certain,y happening. The worst side effect is literally overwhelming fatigue. I don’t know how he stood for 2 hrs on the stage. I don’t know how he continued to play the guitar. And another reason for self medicating through either alcohol or drug, was to,cope with the pain. Whatever the reason, it was killing him. Also, each full shareholder of the eagles LLC, should have hired their own counsel and agent, and let them duke it out. They also at any time could request an independent evaluation and audit of the books. I’m not saying they did, but if Henley and Frey also, any employee, not partner, must have the the exact taxes and retirement taken from their wages. They also have to provide workers comp insurance. A roadie setting up equipment that fails and injures that person, you pay all their medical bills as well as 60 or 70% of their gross income. Another huge issue with self employment, you cannot use the same bank account. And all full partners are entitled to information regarding the company bank account. I’m not throwing shade on this, because quite frankly, I would, too, but don and glen began spending money like there was no tomorrow. Were they writing unauthorized checks to themselves, moving money out of the country to hide true income earned, bank transfers from the business accounts into personal accounts? I don’t know, it Randy and don, as partners, have a right to that income. Don fielder claimed that eagles, LLC was not a multi million dollar company. It was billions, plural, billions of dollars in revenue. And now don Henley is screwing the public again. Lip syncing to backing tracks, charging $12,500 for one ticket on the floor near the stage. The crappy nosebleed seats cost 879.00 per ticket, plus all the fees they tack on. When all of this begins to topple over, I don’t think you have to be psychic to know, there’s gonna be a heartache tonight …
I wish they would release the video shown here of the. Singing Seven Bridges Road…it was on for a bit but taken down. Please consider bringing it back for us! 🥹
Bernie wanted to play more Bluegrass. Im happy that didnt happen. Bernie is a great interview and looks and sounds great today. But the Eagles grew more into a rock/pop act, no longer a bluegrass/western act like they started

All my favorite Eagle's song have nothing to do with Frye and Henley...Meisners songs and Leadon songs were all the more complex artful .
Agreed
Pretty much all the bands at the time suffered from POOR MANAGMENT! Mostly from back taxes that the managers neglected. Also from not soothing ruffeld feather in the bands and giveing them time to recuperate.
Randy is a definite eagle for sure!.....
Watching this makes me sad.
I’m still pissed Randy wasn’t included in the Hell Freezes over tour..
The set list shows that "Take It To The Limit" was actually played that night in Knoxville.
who sang lead?
Why is it so hard to pronounce names correctly?
Because it’s done with AI.
it isn't. This is a Brit interview and that's how they pronounce it there. Some of them also pronounce Meisner as Messner.
I was wondering the same thing!!!
Yes--- what about DON HARTLEY?????
@@diannclemens6847 This does not sound like a Brit.
Take It To the Limit is their BEST SONG, period. Henley and Frey were terrorists to the band members.
Right decision because he did it his way.
Well seems Don is still a bully and even Deacon had enough.
AXE
@@alwittenberg6282 Glenn's son joined and ended up leaving cause Henley's a selfish pr*** and a bully. Didn't want to pay him properly and acknowledge his contribution. Without Frey, Henley's not that much.
Of course it was before his death. RIP Randy and keep up the good work in heaven.
Randy should've left a huge impression on Glens left eye socket. Glen bullied him beyond anything I'd ever heard of. You bully me, you get the black eye. Rip. Randy Miesner
Don is a real prick
so greatWwe grew up together! saw them in their 20s and in 2014.thanks Caseys voice.
MOST SUCCESSFUL BANDS BREAK UP FOR ONE REASON……BIG FAT EGOS!!!!!
FRY e like fried chicken it's so annoying to music lover me.
It's Glen FRY, Like FRY Bread. Deacon FRY!
This interview is from the UK. That's how they speak there.
@@diannclemens6847 yeah but I imagine Glenn would still pronounce his own name the same. This is a crappy narration delivered by AI. The robot also pronounces Bernie Leadon's name wrong.
Call me Deacon Fry…….Deacon Fry…….
The voice is AI. Not intuitive.
Henley is toxic.
So was Glenn Frey!!!
I wonder how it would have turned out if Take it to the Limit had not been written...🤔 Randy was a nice guy it seems....
Lee a don? Really?
Wow. Could your AI narrator have pronounced any more names incorrectly ??? 🙄
3:53 Who is that on far left and 3rd from left?
If “divorce” can happen to the Beatles, then it can happen to any band. There’s always an asshole in a family!!😲😳🙄
And Henley is the only one left now, and has been accused of lip-- synching. He will get his, soon.
Love it !!❤
Maybe this guy should figure out how to pronounce names properly
Was this video produced by AI? The repetitive nature of the narration seems to indicate it was.
Vince Gill was with Pure Prairie League at end of 70s
To me, Vince Gill doesn't sound like he belongs with them.
@@heather6668 hell no he needs to stay country not Rock and Roll
@@CindySurvilla Yeah he does
I saw Pure Prairie League open for the Allman Brothers Band, Providence Civic Center, 1979. Vince Gill sang lead and played guitar.
@@amerocker I liked them. Have 3 albums of theirs
PRONOUNCE NAMES RIGHT. DUH.......
Agreed!!!!
Glen FRAY????????
It's just Eagles, not THE Eagles.
Randy could have easily had his own successful solo career if not for his stage fright and he hated touring
Felder didnt fight. Read his book. They treated him like shit. And he took it like a wimp. Read HIS book!
WELL,
THIS DUMB DRUMMER OWNS 78 COPYRIGHTS ON ORIGINAL SONGS THAT HAVE BEEN ON RADIO, AND PERFORMS AT NICER VENUES LIKE CASINOS, CRUISE SHIPS, ETC..
BANDS ARE A TEAM SPORT PEOPLE!!
😎👍🇺🇸
OMG! If that commentator says "Eagleses" one more time, I'm gonna explode!
Hey ai, who is Glenn "FRAY"?
He suffered from the autoimmune disease rheumatoid arthritis
, which is not arthritis.
Try & Love again was my fav.. man could he have range
Who is this Glen Fray this guy is talking about?
Don doesn't give a damn about Randy's feelings.
True!!!
So what was 'the' song he would't sing?
He told you….Take It to the Limit
Their concerts today have been shown to be lip synced to a prerecorded track and that’s lying! Certainly not worth the money they’re charging!
Only Don Henley's parts are mimed on the new tour. When Glenn Fray (ahem Frey- pronounced Fry) left/died, the touring should have stopped, imo.
It’s pronounced FRY. NOT FRAY
I wish they would release the video shown here of the. Singing Seven Bridges Road…it was on for a bit but taken down. Please consider bringing it back for us! 🥹
You mixed up John David Souther and Randy in forming the Eagles
Frey, erroneamente, se achava a última bolacha do pacote. Longe disso, com todo respeito. Era rude com todos.
The speaker cannot even pronounce Frey and JD Souther correctly. Embarrassing!
Its AI not a person
Misner, the Egales. Felder
C'mon robot..it's pronounced fry..not fray. Peq
Egos get in the way of
all band break ups
Bernie wanted to play more Bluegrass. Im happy that didnt happen. Bernie is a great interview and looks and sounds great today. But the Eagles grew more into a rock/pop act, no longer a bluegrass/western act like they started
Groups sometimes forget that there first works sre the best. Many a band has gone wrong forsaking their winning formula and iconic sound.
If you are going to create a documentary about someone, please at least get their name pronunciation correct.
You don't know who I think I am! This is the downfall of many relationships.
Well Randy and the Frey is 6 ft below the ground already...
Fray and Leeden? 😂
