Rufus was a very popular funk/soul/pop band in the 70's & early 80's, and Chaka was their lead singer for 6 albums before going solo in '78, and for another 3 albums while she also did solo projects in-between. The band Rufus broke up in '83, and Chaka's career hit new heights right after. Ironically, thier last hit single as a band was "Ain't Nobody", possibly their most enduring fan favorite all these years later.
