Chaka or Rufus never put that song in their live performance repertoire, to my knowledge. However there is an amazing clip on youtube of Chaka performing this with The Roots!

Yeah I get what you were saying in the beginning. Like, I love songs like Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl) by Looking Glass but it’s not something I’d ever request to a reaction channel
For me personally I don't really gravitate to music this mellow for playlists but it isn't something that i dont like. If it came on when i was out and about or if i had the radio on i would definitely would enjoy it. But i Don't typically reach for this level if mellow
