phelps even said he thinks he couldve done it himself if he trained exclusively for the 4 im. it is in the realm of possibility and has been for a long time, just takes a very special swimmer
We’re watching the latest iteration of Phelps’ fans, all grown up & ready to take on his crown. However, we shouldn’t forget that Phelps wears the crown not just bc of all the records he broke, but also bc of his longevity as the reigning world #1. So, yes, this is very exciting swimming, but it’s not quite Phelps-ian … yet.
he is a machine, and has amazing technique. It is absolutely insane kicking 13-14m underwater on the last turn of a 400 IM. And he obliterated that record. He is truly like no other.
And yet his breaststroke leg of the race (1:07.64) was slightly slower than his breaststroke leg at last year’s WCs (1:07.28). This can be explained by his faster first half of the race, I guess, but there still appears to be room for improvement.
Wife and I got up at 6 am, got in our Speedo's, and started making Margaritas 🍹 🤪. OMFG WE WERE GOING INSANE WHEN IT HAPPENED. Michael Phelps being there and congratulating him was the "salt around the rim" for us. Total pro. And to see the Sycamore High School Alumni Carson Foster who took down my last record get second... we then took off our Speedos!
It’s not so serious to badly pronounce a name in French. The French sometimes pronounce in bad way certain foreign names too. I know it. I am French. 😁
Hey Kyle, I think Federica Pellegrini's 200FC WR is the longest lasting record in swimming, isn't it? ..and why don't you talk a little about Thomas Ceccon? He's a beast Ciao from Italy
From what I’ve seen from the post race interview, he was basically racing for second. If he wants to challenge Marchand he needs to visualize himself winning, not just losing to Marchand
And maybe we will now see a « Bannister Effect » …Marchand showed that it is possible to break a supposedly ´unbreakable’ 20-y old record. He might do it many more times in the coming years, taking with him other swimmers …Seto, Foster, Kalisz and others ´unknown’ until now. « If it is humanely possible, consider it within your reach » said Marcus Aurelius. Hence, the systematic 14-m underwater mark should become the new benchmark
Kyle, your titles and video thumbnails are great, but instead of having the video be just "about" the title and having the rest of the video be filler / rambling so it's over 8 mins, you should just talk about the other things that clearly interest you as well, like the details of the other races from the session
I'm a work in progress over here and comments like this really help me take the content on this channel to the next level, next video will take this into consideration. Appreciate you, Shawkster6.
We need to talk about phelps saying Leon will be the first to go Sub 4:00
I dare say in Paris
It's not as impossible as it seems after today's swim.
@@SquiggyWigginzExactly
@@SquiggyWigginzexactly, it is entirely possible, it would be absolutely insane if it happened.

Seeing Leon do a 14m underwater on the last turn.. absolutely nuts
So wild that 2 people nearly broke the WR in the 400 free, Titmus went 3:55 and that’s not even the craziest shit that went down
That was the most ridiculous day of swimming I’ve ever seen…
Short’s 3:40 is getting overshadowed because of all the other crazy races

What a great race that was. And the fact that Phelps was commentating made it so much more special.

waking up at 5:30 was definitely worth it
this was so exciting
Dude...I love your perspective. You're great at this. Keep up the great work. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I was at Florida Senior Champs when my coach ran out from the coaches' room to tell us that the world record has been broken. Absolutely Insane
I was at the same meet I didn’t know there was a coaches room
It's incredible. That last underwater was insane!
4:02.5 is an insane time can’t wait to see what he could go next year at home in Paris!
Today was an amazing day of swimming definitely one of the best days of swimming I have watched
I woke up to watching 3 world records and 1 world record almost broken. What a day so far.

0:10 it's the correct pronunciation
Oh my god he’s gonna go 2:05 and 1:53
1:53 in the 200 fly, probably. He isn’t going 1:53 in the 200 IM this year. Let’s see if he can get under 1:55 first.

Shame he isnt swimming 200m breaststroke. He's a legit wr contender l.
He is listed as a participant in heat 4 of the 200m breaststroke on the Omega Timing site, so his withdrawal hasn’t been confirmed yet.
I am going to type out my 2024 prediction that Leon goes 4:00.22 at the Olympics in the 400 IM
I swear is like 2009 all over again, only this time people are just swimming really freaking fast
If Leon ever breaks 4;00, would u consider getting it tattooed? It can be small
Are his splits anywhere on MeetMobile?
that was the most AMAZING swim I have ever watched. I might switch nationalities and become french now 🟥🟦⬜. Hes gonna be sub 4:00 at Paris
I wouldn’t do that if I were you…😂😂

Not that he cheated before but it looked like he removed the .5 flykick.
