- Though Adder may not be my favorite, nor is his theme, he's still alright. That theme of his certainly fits him and I like that one instrument...don't know what its called though. Somehow, hearing this while CPU Adder is making his move on Hard Campaign in Fog of War really gets me nervous. Makes me feel bad, in a good way.
But augh, that one stage with Max against Adder to save the troops...only had two injured Md.Tanks left...one without ammo. But I made it. Hoorah! It's because the A.I. used to cheat back in AW 1+2. It was ridonculous playing the campaign again a month ago.
Adder can be pretty useful, especially with mechs. I just never use him. (I prefer Koal!) But I can't deny he can destroy his enemies pretty well. Go Adder!

actually its just best to use his power sideslip cause in a big fight it gets filled every turn so you have the constant power bonus his super doesnt add any more power just the extra movement

Im really sad how much DS shat on poor Adder.
He got removed entirely from the campaign, got replaced by a copy cat character AND his character design received a huge downgrade (especially his eyes. In AW2 he had black sockets with white glowing rings inside them for eyes - in DS he just got really weird make up around a normal set of eyes. Same for Hawke btw).
At least they did his theme justice.
That one transitioned over to DS quite well - unlike Flak or Lashes themes.

The only co that everyone not scared of until he use the super co power and out maneuver you by destroy every artilleries and rockets with ease.
Dont underestimate his tactical chess game.
Pretty much the one who can outsmart that idea would be Grit. the range along with Super Snipe is just bonkers.

@@SoldierOfFate I've noticed that most grit players tend to not use Recons; when in reality between Sonya and Grit; both of those CO's really shine with people who use Recons. atleast in fog of war wise anyway, Grit can atleast have a better warning system if his artillery aren't in place yet.

I want to main this co
Battleships are pretty durable, but it will still be around 5-6 damage. What you DON'T want happening is that sub getting to that Lander that you've loaded with Md./Neo Tanks. Unless you've got Drake, there's a fifty-fifty chance that the lander and those tanks are sunk with just that one. If not, then a follow up from a most ground vehicles (Recon and either anti-air unit being the only ones that can't) or an aircraft with ground attack capabilities will finish it off.

Adder is a tutorial without being a tutorial. He truly shows how devastating good/bad movement can be. Like another commenter said "don't underestimate his tactical chess game"

Adder... Oh Adder... Friggin' Skinny Military Marilyn Manson in Pumps... Oh how I hated that almost every Yellow Comet mission with you involved the Fog of War.. How that one mission with Sonja where I had to destroy your Fortress' minicannons, and you had a fleet of like 20 bombers that I couldn't see, but you could see me just fine, seeing as how until Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, enemies could see your units the Fog of War with no problems...
Actually in DS they couldn't until they initially saw it, once they saw it the 1st time they knew where it was, thougn before that they were blind.
On AW2 and DS, the AI cheats
Even on forest and reefs, they will send units "accidentally" to spot you. Because the game wont allow him to target you. But for the AI, FoW doesnt exist

Although he is not a very strong CO, his CO powers make him extremely fun to play. And his theme is easily one of the best.

Just need to play the game by CO tiers to let them all shine. Some COs are just flat out god tier (Hachi) while others are garbage (Grimm). If you play with tier brackets then your weaker CO will be balanced because ideally they will be fighting someone of roughly the same power. Adder is considered top 1 or 2 of the bottom tier.
I mean, I'm not really into competitive Advance Wars, I just like to play casually from time to time versus AI. But if I understand it correctly, it works a bit like a smogon tiering in pokemon?
@@MaxBurnHeart Pretty much. You've got 4 tiers COs are split in. Character like Adder (tier 4) will stand no chance against someone like Colin (tier 1), but against other tier 4s and potentially some 3s he can shine. Advance Wars is pretty poorly balanced CO wise.
@@MaxBurnHeart Tier list I'm going off of is Advance Wars by Web list. It has all COs from first 3 games. Sturm is set as his AW1 Vs playable unit. Everyone else is set to AW2 versions. Dual Strike is only it's unique COs. Characters that got buffed like Jess and Eagle are still set at their AW2 stats.
Adder is a rusher where he must focus on flattening hostile forces before they can get their heavier gear out - basically, a neutered version of Sturm because his forces can move like they're on steroids. He doesn't last well in prolonged slugging matches since he lacks offensive and defensive talents.

Between his high heels, vanity and eyeliner, Adder looks to me as someone who would say "bitch I'm fabulous".

+Godot adder's normal co only takes two stars while koal's takes three, still mostly the same though
Koal pros: Gets higher attack power on roads.
Adder pros: Can use his CO Power almost every friggin' turn.
Honestly? I actually prefer Adder because he can make use of his strength without the need of sacrificing defense. You usually don't want to end your turn on roads after all.

Oh this theme...my absolute favorite enemy theme. Bone chilling levels of menace and intimidation. Those opening measures always send a fell chill down my spine. Deliciously evil.
i love using this guy. actually i use most of the black hole COs. on versus and design maps. but i think of myself as Adder.

ahh my favorite CO. I just love how you can spam his CO power really quickly. Makes your enemies think twice before placing an indirect unit somewhere within 1 or 2 tiles away from my MD tanks.

He is the most basic CO in the game. But, maybe they should have added 1+ movement speed on all his units, while his powers added more.
+Lord Rndom Giving Adder 1+ Movement from the start would literally just make him the 2nd strongest CO after Sturm.(Because he wouldn't be able to really damage Sturm)

adder is in AWBW one of the worst CO's in the game at tier 4 (though debtatably the best in that tier)
this is due to three things
one his super CO power is just bad. like honestly? even if its cheap its a super, it needs to do something
you will rarely see an adder super over sideslip and because of this any map with high income capacity adder automatically struggles as they'll be more supers
second due to the lack of any kind of global damage or firepower buff at all he has alot of trouble making breakthroughs, and his abilities are best when you can make a breakthrough (getting units deep behind to strike from alternative angles and hit indirects)
thirdly, adder gets stomped by many other CO's like grit, max, drake, olaf to name a few due to either global damage, getting walled out or just nothing to exploit with his COP
a +1 move D2D would be quite powerful, seeing as it would allow you to roll out much quicker but otherwise? not really much to fix his problems
@@dreamypizza8458 If you really think that a d2d +1 move on everything is somehow not absolutely broken you cant be as good at competitive AW as you think you are. Having permanent 4 move Infantry is insane.

My god, you fight this guy so much in the Blue Moon and Yellow Comet parts of the campaign I actually wanted to kill something. Not sure what, just that it would probably be some kind of snake. (Seeing "sideslip" and "snakebite" flash on a screen hundreds of times will do that to you.)
"Snakebite"? Seems kinda odd compared to Sidewinder, though that's probably just because I'm used to that name. Also, wasn't Lash the CO that was in most Blue Moon missions? Adder's target was Yellow Comet. Still, I'd have to agree that Adder was quite annoying.
I swear in that mission with sensei with all the pipes my units were 2 spaces away from his massive army and then he pulls sidewinder out of his ass and suddenly my HQ is gone

My favourite black hole CO in AW 2 when the game came out. Awesome theme, awesome design, simple but effective power
I like how a member of the Black Hole team's got some form of regular CO that tends to Trade hands rather well. Like in AW1 I find Max n Strum are the perfect "boxing meme" game of trading blows non stop; and not either of them dominate much because they're both on the same field.
Here; Adder I find is perfect for that same aspect with Kanbei. Kanbei hates it when people fight dirty, and that's what Adder does. another two I find that fit the "throw hands" idea I have.

The trick to using indirect units against him is simple: instead of you being just outside of his reach, HE needs to be just outside of YOUR reach!

I recently went and replayed dual strike, i gotta say, i think he has my favorite theme of the black hole guys, never would have known either, as I've always used koal over him.

fake h don't know if you're still here, but here is what's used:
Electric Bass (the HARD "urban" sounding one in all of the Black Hole theme is a special distortion made on the amplificator)
Electric Guitar (multiple effects are used on it at different times of the song)
Not sure but i hear some sort of of cythare/oriental guitar in Adder's theme too.
There's also a koto in the main part. It's a Japanese instrument

Adder was fun to play against in campaign. IMO, he was the most balanced Black Hole CO. Unlike Lash, however: Prime Tactics makes me only deal 1 HP of damage to an infantry on a mountain - with a Neotank! 8 stars of defence! Wtf Lash.

Thankfully the AI is dumb and always puts a tank on the HQ instead of capping it whenever I play that map.

the first 2 games had such a charming artstyle, why did they gmove away from it, dual strike at least kept the sprites and battlefields the same but the character designs were so meh(the blackhole generals all look pretty good tho), DoR's characters have alot more ...character... but i cant stand the map and sprite designs
