UBOAT is a new Submarine Simulator that just dived into early access. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish. - Ігри

The type II is actually pretty underrated, I call it the "ninja" of u-boats since it's kinda quiet and it's size makes it easier to escape depth charges
I lost a type II very early on because I ignored my first aircraft warning leaving on my second patrol and still near Heligoland. Was honestly probably only September 10 or so and figured I'd try my luck or at least wait to see what it was. Turned out to be an entire air raid of probably about 20 planes all gunning for me, something I'd never seen before except later in the war while in port. Slight chance I might have been able to save it but it was flooding fast and with no bulkheads there is only so much to do. In any case I didn't really stick it out because there was still some wonkiness with the TDC the first few days so figured I'd just try a VIIB instead.
The first upgrade to the type II D is really worth it. The later upgardes are not very neccesary
Port raids can be your bread and butter in a type II, they're better at it than any other type due to their small size.
I can't imagine they were much fun to serve on and they definitely don't have much in the way of speed, but they are very agile compared to their much more famous bigger brothers. I enjoyed them a lot in SH3. Because they are so quick to turn, it's a lot easier to dodge the eggs the destroyers above try to crap all over you. I feel their biggest drawback outside of their lack of speed is the pathetic number of reloads they carry. Despite all that, I've always enjoyed using them. So I'm really glad to see them come to this game. That said, I really do hope they add the Type XXI and XXIII(Which has even fewer torpedoes than the Type II, lol...) models. I would definitely be happy to cough up a few bucks for those as a DLC pack.
@@gvii No, they were not. From what I understand they were known as the "bath tubs" in the Kriegsmarine, cause it was like sailing the seas in a bath tube. Practically all my careers in SH3 start from them. The type XXIII though, I don't know if they'll really add it cause it's 2 torpedoes only I think..

Ah a wargame that doesn't have ridiculous magazine explosions every engagement.
There's even a realistic sinking mod, which dramatically slows down the sinking process of enemy ships.
You often have to hang about to make sure a target goes down - or hit it with more torpedos...
My first U-4 patrol also involved a fellow Type VII. Unfortunately in my case it was a ghost ship and ended up being my first sinking of the war.

Court marshal is just the court system for military personnel, it's usually seen in media as trials for cashiering an officer for inceompetence or treason or other major stuff, but it absolutely also handles more minor things like a crewman being caught stealing.

Dunkirk actually did have a lot of 4-6 story buildings along the coast at the time. A fair number are still standing, albeit significantly refurbished and renovated. Sure, the game uses very low detail models for the buildings for performance reasons, but the height of those buildings is not inaccurate for Dunkirk at the time.
They are hotels, not office buildings.
They're hotels, and Dunkirk didn't look much different than it does in game in 1939, before the germans bombed it to rubble.

A little thing that might help ya, @wolfpack345 , you can actually sink a freighter with the 20mm that the type II has. Load the AP ammo and take manual control and aim at the waterline. It'll probably take a fair number of rounds, but I've done it in my personal campaign when I ran out of torps.
Wolf, Early in the war you can save your torpedoes simply by using AP machine gun rounds on the single merchant boats you come across. Actually chasing them down and interacting with them when you get near could let you board them after they give up the chase, and you can dynamite them (I highly recommend buying a stick of dynamite) to sink them. Since you are very limited on torpedoes, those should only be used when a merchant has an escort. Torpedoing merchants isn't necessary when you have no reason to be hiding from anything on the surface.
Not sure if you already know this, but in the attack periscope, you can change the zoom by right clicking (unless they changed it). And the button at the top with the 2 arrows will turn the periscope to 0, so you don't have to turn the damn thing all the way around just to look forward.
Love the animation of men walking along the deck and climbing into the conning tower :D

Need more U BOAT, videos are so freaking well made.
Be aware that you can now have the rudder dial, depth dial, and throttle all on screen at once now by dragging and dropping them wherever you want. They show up in the external view, etc as well.
Id love to see a full playthrough when it goes 1.0, so many ships and upgrades now.
Fun fact, I’m following the SH3 series of Tonci as well and his sub is U55 😅
Actually nice to see how Complex it was to shoot a torpedo. When i was young i played silent hinter iv and didnt enjoyed it. I thought the torpedo would just follow the looked scope 😅. But nowdays. The atmosphere of ubout is just amazing. Would love to see more.

It's too bad that Crew Events don't let you look at the rolls when they pull up, or at least list the Rank and Station of the parties involved - that would be a handy feature.
PSA: you can press C and V to recentre the view horizontally on your current heading and vertically on the horizon, respectively, when in the binos/UZO/scope view. Way faster than manually panning back.
I really like how the campaign in this game has similar options like the one in Silent Hunter V. Looking forward to continuing this campaign!
The allied ships likes to hug the UK coast as close as they can. Should be able to find a lot of them there. I discoverd that during a drop mines, they look like mini sossages. XD
You can right click in the periscope/UZO views to quickly cycle between zoom states, which may make your attacks and observations quicker and more fluid- great video as always!

My last two patrols in this boat I have had to make the last portion back to port on electric motors haha
I don't know if they patched it but you could get further by alternating electric and diesel since you got no fue penalty for charging
This is by far my favorite sub sim. I actually wonder now with the diesels, how did they manage to prevent water from going up the exhaust seems I need to find a good documentary.

The Campaign goals are not very well balanced. I would suggest to use shore leave only when absolutley neccesary since you want to reach all the goals in time to get nice perks and blueprints for new uboats.

Minelaying makes little sense in a Type II, the mines take the place of torpedoes, and a type II has few enough of those as it is. A Scapa raid would be fun! a type II should be idea for that too!
early war German torpedoes were absolute trash. From the book 'Neither Sharks nor Wolves' which is about German uboat crews in a very unbiased view, they went over how many duds happened early on, and that if there had been no duds, 1/4 to 1/2 of the British fleet in 1939-1941 would of been sunk. Doentiz once exclaimed that 'no force has gone to war with such poor a weapon' (or something similar).

I'm having quite a lot of fun with this update. Started with the 7B, and have now after a few patrols upgraded to a fully kitted out 7C. I'm hoping to upgrade to the 7C/41 once it's available.
@harrybirchall3308 Certian stages of the campaign objectives on the map reward blueprints. For example, I got one blueprint from the Tonnage War another from Atlantic Theatre Operations.
Every convoy ive come across has been all warships, usually 5 destroyers and 3 corvettes

I love this game a lot, but I keep fumbling the ball when it comes to making torpedo attacks in the type II every goddamn time my torps go either run just ahead or just astern of the target im so so close yet so so far. I hope Wolfpack makes a TDC tutorial soon because it would be nice to figure out where im going wrong.

At first I through Freind was actually Feind (Enemy). (which might've made for a weird episode - a British M Class Monitor sub, coming to the aid of a merchant ship under attack by U4, tried to dive under the merchant to better get at U4. The merchant collided with the M Class, knocking its gun turret off, causing catastrophic flooding, thus sinking it. BTW, this actually happened. The M1 attempted to dive under a friendly ship and was sunk with all hands when its cruiser turret was dismounted by a collision between the friendly ship and the turret) Could've used Freund but other no worries.
It's good to see a sim using the Type IIs. Do they offer the rest of the II series. They mostly differ in having longer ranges (and slightly better AA once you get to the IID), but the overall short range and paltry torp ordinance remained throughout.
IID is in too, as well as VIIA/B/C.
IX and XXI are under development/consideration (depending who you ask) as DLC.

Lucky if you got a 37mm on the Type 2 Submarine. The recoil of the 88mm would only damage the hull of the Type 2.

You should be able to go into crew at port and remove the problematic sailor from roster. I'm not sure if they made it random or if he will keep having problems but i'd release him.

Just a question, can u still mod the game? All mods i've downloaded so far just says outdated or just don't work when I enable them. Been trying since i bought the game not even a year ago
Some have been updated for the beta, the big ones like uboat expanded haven't yet

I am doing the U-4 now. However I am not sure I came across a bug, or just me doing something wrong. Got back to Wilhelmshaven from patrol, and into the warehouse to get more fuel. When I got in the warehouse, all I see is "Equipment", "Food", and "Galley" - The galley was 3-4 times after each other. I could not restock any torpedos or get more fuel... Any tips?
