I have an 83" FLHT myself and love it! First year of the batwing fairing but same bike as your's nonetheless. In essence why these bikes handle so well is that the frame shares many similarities with the FXR frame. Just bigger basically. I love the way yours sounds but I would give it a little more idle speed to help with oil pressure at idle. Just my 2 cents haha
Good to see them still going though!!

Yeah it’s essentially an FXR frame so it really does handle very well. Good thought on the idle - I haven’t touched the carburetor since I rebuilt the engine 2 years ago because honestly it hasn’t needed it. I’ll bump it up a bit when I warm it up tomorrow! Cheers 🍻

We are assembling mine this summer. Don't know if we'll keep it. 8 years since I spun the tran input bearing. 500 miles on a rebuild. My Vrod ruined my motivation.

They need to be at least 850RPM

Hahaha ... it is a super cool bike, but well handling it is not : )
A big beemer is well handling.
This is more like a big heavy slug.
    But super cool.
    Hoping to get one soon.

You’d be surprised - this bike is easier to maneuver in a parking lot and pull tight u-turns with than my Shadow was by far. And when you ride this in backroads, it almost seems to follow the curve of the road itself. It’s kinda crazy how good it rides. You’d also be surprised how much you can really lean a bagger into corners. But a lot of this comes down to the rider not the bike.

That low idle will kill that motor.

No it’ll be fine. Still makes 20 psi of oil pressure at that idle. All shovels idle low like that. Very normal
