Lyrics:
It's not the way you lead me
By the hand into the bedroom
It's not the way you throw your clothes
Upon the bathroom floor
Been thinking about you
I just couldn't wait to see
Fling my arms around you
As we fall in ecstasy
Ooh sometimes
The truth is harder
Than the pain inside, yeah
Ooh sometimes
It's the broken heart
That decides
It's not the way you caress me
Toy with my affection
It's not my sense of emptiness
You fill with your desire
Climb in bed beside me
We can lock the world outside
Touch me satisfy me
Warm your body next to mine
Ooh sometimes
The truth is harder
Than the pain inside, yeah
Ooh sometimes
It's the broken heart
That decides
Ooh sometimes
The truth is harder
Than the pain inside, yeah
Ooh sometimes
It's the broken heart
That decides
Ooh sometimes
The truth is harder
Than the pain inside, yeah
Ooh sometimes
It's the broken heart
That decides

Vince Clarke is a musical genius.
When you know you know.
Perfect! He's the founder of Depeche Mode!
Looking back i am so glad he left DM😂❤
And what about Andy Bell?
VCMG (Vince Clarke & Martin Gore) is a great example
One of the best 80' s groups ever. Thank you boys !!!!!
Don't push it. They have 1 good song and it isn't even this.
Well, what ones that then?
@@jis87BE 1good song?? The following five albums The Innocents (1988), Wild! (1989), Chorus (1991), Pop! The First 20 Hits (1992) and I Say I Say I Say (1994) all reached number 1 in Great Britain, so that Erasure were already considered one of the most successful British bands ever in 1992.
Indeed, brilliant and fresh music
Súhlas 👍🍀
Few days ago I started listening to the music from the 80 ties and man I feel alive again. I dance every day and I feel like I m 18 again. It is such a joy. I m 50 and I m amazed of how this music can lift me up and how inspiring it is
Been doing this for a few months now. Don't care what anyone thinks.
It's only a good thing that you dance like you're 18 again. I'm so glad UA-cam has allowed you a channel to find the music you've always loved. One thing for sure is that the digital age has cemented a lot of old classics forever :)
Slow 7. You are lucky to dance. At my age i just move the arms and maybeeee the hips.
The knees are telling me
"Slow down boy, ypu had ypur chance. We are going nowhere!!!"
Is this 'new wave' dancing? It's so much easier than 'shuffle' dancing
Good on you! I feel much the same! Glad to see I am not alone! The late 80s and early 90s were MUCH better than what we deal with today
Although I never noticed at the time, the 80s had so many great bands and amazing music
100% the 80s produced the best electro synth pop music the 90s produced the best dance music especially the trance scene, and in 2024 they produce an avalanche of shit that nobody cares about or will even look back at. its all disposable manufacturerd garbage.
Who agrees that 80s music is the best?

@@anjasmolders2013 I agree despite being born in 2008

Yeah music has been, in a few words, ugly and evil ever since
Vince Clarke is one of the best British song writers ever. He was 60 last week 😱
Hes not looking it or showing it living in the USA must be doing him good
Yes he is ... in fact listening to Sometimes, at 0:23 I hear the a sound effect that Depeche Mode might have borrowed for their hit Enjoy The Silence ?
@@88feji in fact, he was founder of Depeche Mode... he wrote Just can't get enough, just to mention one song. Then formed Yazoo with Alison Moyet, and the Erasure. Really a great artist, that's for sure!
A real genius of electronic sounds, e.g. Yazoo and Depeche! 🎹🎶🌹🦋✨
Yes Vince is a genius - but with Erasure you have to give Andy half the credit for writing all the lyrics.... it's a 50/50 partnership
who listening to this wonderful song in 2024

These guys used to get a lot of flak for being categorised as gay music, as did the Pet Shop Boys and Bronski Beat. I grew up in the 80s as a student in a West London school. I was a fan of rock and electronic music back then but I can still remember the jibes people used to give about this type of music.
Looking back on it now and hearing it again with adult ears, I am so grateful that these songs were made. They have all become bullet points to different parts of my life, and these songs still sound great today. I still love the haunting keyboard melody of Bronski Beat's Small town Boy.
These are era defining songs that we should all cherish forever!

Can we just go back to the 80s...Erasure is no doubt one of the greatest bands to ever form. Vince and Andy are just timeless with their ability to still produce and record fantastic music!
Vince Clarke wrote songs for bands like Yazoo, Depeche Mode, loads of others. The man is super talented
The musical complexity and timelessness of this song are amazing.
I love Andy Bells style of dancing ❤️
😂That’s what I thought, too. Wish I could move that way in 2024…🙈

Sadly only gay men can get away with dancing like that, my wife dies a little inside when i try! 😂

*IT SUCKS not realising, that I was having THE BEST time of my life, BACK THEN !!!* Now I will trade EVERYTHING I own, for just 1 week back, to this time of my life !!!
After all this years. Still the best pop song of all time for me. Each fragment fits perfectly into the song. Great mix of synthetic and acoustic sounds. Andy's voice at the peak of his creativity. There is nothing that could improve this song. And honestly... a song with a trumpet solo that you can still dance to. Who would do it today?
I see that you are passionate about sounds like me and acoustic synthesizers, it is a pleasure to read a comment like yours. I'm from Brazil and I recommend you a channel to watch cool videos of classics in world music. www.youtube.com/@DX5

I was lucky enough to be old enough when Erasure came into their prime. In the back of my parents car. Loving every single song they released. I will always be angry that they never became as big as others though. Sublime songs that deserve more attention.
the inheritance of yazoo weighed too heavy
They were HUGE in the UK in the late 80s and early 90s. Stadium tours and loads of cd sales. They did alright

The best era in music, the best era in pretty much anything. The 80s produces amazing memories and amazing music, hence the music that we listen to now from the 80s brings up all of those amazing memories. Saw them in concert once at the NY Pier. One of the best concerts to be at, outside, they put on an amazing show and the music, it was one big dance party, everyone loved it and you made friends just from listening to the same beautiful music. Completely the best times to be a teen and young adult.
Nice try
You should get out there.
I love this song. It still sounds incredible in 2023. When music was at its finest 😊
It Does And In 2024 ❤❤❤
This song was a typical erasure's 80s song. One of their best if not the best!
Saw them in concert in the late '80's at the London Docklands, this man can really sing. No seat was being used, everyone there was up and dancing, in the aisles and every space available, a massive dance floor. Great fun.
Must have been amazing to see.
This is why rewind festivals go through tickets quickly peaple don't like modern music we all like to take that time machine and go back to when music was back like in those dance hall days
If it was the Wild tour, 10 Dec 1989, it’s on UA-cam. And it was great fun to be there!
Used to listen to this song in the club Charing Cross London GAY now closed a while ago was a good place to rave .
That was a brilliant gig! Venue exists no more 😢

"Chains of Love" is my favorite song by them.
So many hits by Erasure. Loved the 80s so much....
I miss the 80’s..so much… 😢
I was little older when the 80's music came out.....I was 24. When I was a teenager, I was into 70's prog rock. However when the 80's and this type of music came out, I fell in love with it. To me, this was my favourite era of music. I loved all the bands that came out. I'm 62 now and I will always go back and listen to this great music. It makes you want to get up and dance, like i'm doing now, to this great tune by Erasure.
There’s something unassuming about Andy Bell that makes him a great performer. It’s only recently that I’ve realized how great a lot of Erasure’s tracks were.
How it came you havent realized it at the '80s
