THANK YOU!! ✌️👑
Cool experiment. However, instead of pushing down on the shelves to get it to fall, you should get a pulley system that measures ft pounds until it breaks for more accuracy on it's weight capabilities.
We were wanting to mainly just test which would holdout the longest, not necessarily what the exact weight limit is at the point of failure. Love the idea of the pulley system though, so we might have to do more with these crazy tapes in the future!
@@TheKingofRandom Ah gotcha! I look forward to seeing it in the future!
@@TheKingofRandom Yet you did neither. LOL.
I like the idea of testing tapes but the test could have been done multiple times and then counting the average. Also the could have been diffirent surfaces, wether conditions and a time test. I left this video without having any idea wich tape is the best.
@@TheKingofRandom yeah dude there not try hards no more😭😂
Project Farm would have done this test with so much more precision.
Indeed, this seemed sloppy and poorly planned.
Too bad we still don't know how much they can hold. 17 lbs + pushing doesn't tell us how strong it is
Clear winner is the mesh
The most painful product testing I've seen on UA-cam 😟😟
Gorilla was pretty strong
Alien Tape, is a synthetic adhesive tape consisting of arrays of carbon nanotubes transferred onto a backing material of flexible polymer tape.
Which basically means it works kindof like a spiders foot, which has arrays of microscopic hairs to make it stick to surfaces. That is why it holds so well when you pull down on it, and does not at all hold when you pull the shelves, tools etc straight off.
What made the tape fail when you where pulling on it was that you did not pull in a perfectly straight line downwards.
I think it’s actually supposed to resemble a geckos foot
Bring back someone that will use a Scientific method of testing things.
She does
Alien tape looks pretty cool. Anyway, remember when TKOR made a water to fuel converter?
who?
Is it me or is her uncontrolled and inconsistent pushing on each of the ends VERY frustrating?! Experiments need control!
This seems more like an advertisement than an actual experiment.
Alien tape works fantastic, I can say! It actually holds pretty sturdy...
Until it rips the paint/first surface layer off your walls and the shelf falls. Lesson learned quickly. Works fantastic on glass and (unpainted) wood though!
Yeah we're missing a lot of paint now...
Come on bruh all tape rips off the paint how did you not know this?
Leave this sort of stuff to project farm. He does it right.
Sounds like a cool guy, we'll check him out. Thanks for watching our video.
Your testing methodology fails to met the standards of a middle-school science class.
3M vhb tape is used to attach windows to skyscrapers. Now they use 10+ feet of tape for that but when used right it is amazing.
If you are looking to watch someone have fun, TKOR. If you are looking for someone to do a scientific product comparison,
Project Farm.
The 'Total Tape' claims that it holds 300lbs per roll. I think it has to state the length of the roll on the label.
So just divide it out to get the load per 4 inches of tape.
I'm glad someone else said something.
You should definitely redo the experiment with a test jig, small chain hoist and a load cell. Test in both shear and tension. I use some product very similar to the superglue product to hold a lamp on a wall, 4x1” bits. When I went to remove the lamp it took chunks of the hard plaster off the bricks.
I just use automotive tape. The stuff they use to stick licence plates to cars.
Holds great and is weather proof :)
No use a price tag sticker from Ross. They never come off.
I’m intrigued. Both by the reusable nature of the alien tape and how the 3M and Super Glue held the most!
Soooo for the next experiment, make a suit from the tape, much like the suits they have that are velcro at some amusement parks where you can jump off a trampoline onto a wall and stick to it, how about a suit of alien tape and jump onto a wall?
I put a metal skull and crossbones (2 pieces} on my car 7 years ago (thank Facebook memories for reminding me!) both pieces have 3M sticky tape and dozens of storms and visits to the car wash, they're stuck solid to the car. Seriously impressed with 3M.
"So we're gonna start with 17lbs and a random amount of added downward force..."
At least when it comes to the 3m, there is a cure time that is more like 24 hours than 1 hour. When it comes to ventvisors when they first came out, temperature at application as well as cure time did make a difference.
Conclusion segment at the end for all tapes tested would be nice.
this is inconclusive data since you dont know the exact amount of ponds your applying with you pulling at it and when you were trying to push it down you were pulling it in a 35 to 45 degrees directional pull witch is away from the wall not with the wall i would like to see a more concrete method of testing the tapes in a controlled manner
7:21 Me: You weigh 300 pounds!?🤔
Hey, you know what you should freeze dry next? toffee cake on the topic of freeze drying cakes!
3M is still the KING!
Who
not surprised the 3M tape didn't budge at all.
Try zip tape as well that stuff never lets go
Independent variable: What you use to attach an object to the wall
Dependent variable: How long each object attaches
Controlled variable: The wall
The "alien tape" on non porous surfaces creeps over time to increase it's grip and becomes very difficult to remove.
washing it destroys it's adhesion.
🤔 Could you be restrained to a wall with just the tape???
If someone wrapped it all around your body, could they pick you up and stick you to the wall.
Will the tape hold you?
Is it strong enough to keep you from struggling and pulling yourself off??
Real world testing would be more like leaving the weight hanging on all the shelves for a week, with a camera on them to show, if they fail, when they fail.
I had a similar tape before, it tore the paper off my wall. Time to see how this holds up
One of the best vids in a long time, ty Grace.
time to tape Grace to the wall i guess ;-) you should also try some kind of furniture and let it hang for like a month to see if it stays
3:22 I would like to use that horn sound. What is it called? ~ An alien wanted to fight a T~Rex. The T~Rex said, "You're gonna get Jurass-kicked!"
Please explore the other tapes. Great video!
That is cool, totally gonna use that to hold tools to the shelf
Grace, I honestly thought this was an April Fools episode since it premiered on 4/1/22. I’m glad I checked it out though. I never heard of it til now. Thanks. :)
Goes well above what all of them should hold.. "I would not use these to hang stuff"
Test that VHB tape too. Its supposedly the best one.
Absolutely best intro on UA-cam. New subscriber!
Swing Grace with that stuff, afterall, this is TKOR!
Excellent and Actionable content; so, thanks for that; just need to know now; pound to pound the cost comparision based on equal amounts of materials.
Projects; Design, Create and Invent pretty much consumes my days since I retired from the military after 25 years; foray, after watching this vid, I am wondering now is; does everyone talk to the items in their project .. Buddy !?!
Did the presenter by chance; happen to mention the "Diamond Play Button" a time or two .. Congrats!
Another test that I think should be put to it is cold temperatures. I've used a variety of double-sided tape on the inside window of my truck and so far every time cold weather hits the tape fails.
Very cool! Until it rips the paint off if things, works great on unpainted items though
Alot depends on the surface you are sticking things to. The surface may let you down, before the tape, IE wallpaper, paint, etc may come away from the wall first....
tape someone to ceiling.
the 3-M tape is used in the auto industry, it is what holds window guards you see on some cars and trucks
Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.” -
I've used something similar (don't know what it is! ) The tape is 2" wide and I used 2 6" strips on the back of an 8x8" piece of plexiglass. I put two of them on my finished cherry staircase (I needed something that suction cups could "stick" to. It was for a cat toy I invented. ) The invention still needs work but I haven't been able to remove the two pieces of plexiglass stuck to the stairs!! They have been there for almost a year. They have become, sadly, a permanent feature of the staircase. Sigh.
Can you do an one towel test on your leg top load washer on cottons normal cycle please and thank you
This uses a shearing force, so it's directional, but still allows you to pull it away easily. As soon as the force is no longer in the correct direction it falls apart.
the packaging for superglue tape said 300lbs PER ROLL...that doesn't mean that it will hold 300 lbs for the small pieces you are using
Not a very scientific test as usual. I hope project farm tests these
make a whole tool rack with alien tape :D
Hi can freeze dry juice (ur choice ) and crush then make cotton candy.? Plsssss
They've done it before a long time ago
Ha ha she said Doink… I seen Josh’s video about the pool shock that was really
Cool Spanks!
I assume you guys have seen videos/photos of people taping themselves to ceilings/walls. And I hope you see where I'm going with this...
Alien tape is pretty good stuff. I would replace screws for it but I’d use it on lots of stuff.
i wanted 2 see the rice experiment...
Its the same as HPX tape we have here in the netherlands and it has bin arround for many years. Its somekind of clear silicon like double sided tape :)
3M outdoor is my go to for projects. It holds like you wouldn’t believe
We don't know if they work for heavier loads. Most shelves must hold more than 10 lbs+ the weight of the shelf.
You could hang a big water bottle off it and fill that up until it gives up to get a more granular measure of strength.
The camera guy is more entertaining than her
I'd like to see the all the tapes tested to destruction.
Being this is April Fools Day, I will forgive this video.
Was watching the ball chain fountain video and I wonder what will happen if you try to do 2 at once inside one cup
You're killing it, grace!
Thank you!!!
Looks very similar to tubular tape, used in cycling.
The tapes were designed to have weak peel strength but strong grip strength
6:40 I think, it's not funny to hear cats hurt and scared when something falls.
I love that stuff I remember what I bought Eli and tape for the 1st time You know you can wash those that tape too and reuse it right It's recyclable
cool experiment i also tried it myself and it held up my bookshelf
One of the best uses for Duct tape is all the stuff you can use it for, like doing a quick repair on your cars bumper, to make a sling or bandage, to make a spear, or to make cord. If all I had was Alien Tape and I was stuck on in the woods, could I survive if I break my arm or need to fend off a mountain lion?
different tapes for different purposes, dude. there are plenty of things you should absolutely _not_ use duct tape for.
@@RabblesTheBinx Oh sure. But the idea is still the same, if you're stuck with only this product, could it be used in these ways? Obviously you wouldn't _want_ to use Duct tape as makeshift cord and use it to climb down a 10 foot cliff, but if it's all you got and you're confident the tape won't break until you're safely down it's better than jumping and injuring yourself. Alien tape could be made of a more durable plastic which might be better for climbing. It's about improvising and making due with what you got.
I like alien tape, but my go to is carpet seaming tape
great idea
Some of the tapes say leave for like 24 hours before you load them up.
Divide 300 lbs by the number of inches in the roll of superglue tape for a fair idea of how much it will hold.
I like her. She's funny. I guess the test of time and see how long the items stays up would be my suggestion and see under various conditions perhaps as periodic follow ups.
Wow what did they sell his old camra to ?
The next alien tape test should be obvious.... put it on your hands and feet and you should be able to climb the wall like spiderman!!!
Why doesn’t glue stick to glue when in the bottle? That’s an interesting experiment I’ve always been curious about.
Because it’s still wet. As soon as it dries it hardens and sticks together.
But you need to show what happens when you wash it, how to dry it and does it hold afterwards?
wait this summer to see all of that melting along the wall ...
How much drywall paper tore off when you removed the 3M tape?
Run that super glue tape through the paces. See how much it can handle.
Idea: make a robot mouth and see if it can break a Giant Jawbreaker!
The picture on the super glue tape shows a car hanging, hmmm! Try it!
Pretty sure this is just nano tape with a fancy name
that awkward moment when sponsorblock blocks the entire video
Yes, more super glue tape test 🐸
Torture test alien tape vs 3M tape vs super glue tape. See how long they last and how much they can really hold.
really thought this was gonna be an april fools video
The Super Glue tape said it holds 300 pounds per roll. How long is the roll?
can you make a video on how to use nitric acid to separate silver from copper?
Cảm ơn 🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳
No its not the strongest in the world but it does work pretty well I bought some at the store for $10 to hang up a full length mirror on the back of my bathroom door about 2yrs ago and its still hanging there but the mirror is very thin and not too heavy. I would buy it again for $10 though.
1:59 You can see where she noticed the iso wiped the paint off the wall.
What happens if you throw popcorn seeds in a fryer
