Last year an oil change place stripped out my oil pan drain plug so I tried to stop my oil leak on my 2005 Civic EX by tapping and using a Time-Sert insert. Continued oil leak. Tried several times with more inserts to no avail. Used a different tap and drain plug. Still oil leak that seemed to get worse. Replaced the oil pan. Oil leak continued. Saw this video and repaired the Vtech solenoid's cracked gasket. Forgot how the bracket went back on so I reviewed your video and saw the bracket's proper position. No more oil leak!! Thank you so much for the video.

By far the best step by step, most people forget the Phillip's screw underneath and the side sensor clip before removing the air filter housing. Helped me out a lot, and would've ruined a sensor if I didnt watch this through! 👍👍

Really good video, just what I was needing, only my Honda Civic EX is a 2003 but still the same, (mostly). Oh, the music was a little weird, I keep waiting to see a bellie dancer show up. 😁😁👍😍😍

Thank you for the great video! My 2001 Honda Civic is leaking engine oil. I can see the oil is from the top and goes to the front. Vtec solenoid is on the back. Should I replace the vtec solenoid gaskets too or it's irrelevant?

Can you tell me if the unit that you rebuilt was the original unit on the car? I plan to change gaskets on my son's car, which has the same mark(brand) on the units case. I've heard that aftermarket parts are prone to premature failure and would rather not put new gaskets on junk.

Great video! Did you ever crack open the oil pressure switch? Are there supposed to be 2 o rings?

Did it fix your problem? I have a P1259 code, the VVT Electronic Control System Malfunction, and didn't want to spend $100+ if that's not the root cause.

@@noahsanders5398 I'm not certain if it was that exact code but previously I've had a Vtec failure code. All it ended up being for me was low oil, I topped it up and cleared the code and it was a-okay. If you don't have enough oil, your engine won't be able to build up enough oil pressure to activate Vtec and that causes it to fail to activate, causing (at least in my case) the car to violently jerk and be unable to rev above 3200~rpm. Hopefully this helps anyone else that comes along this.

Question, if I have a P1259 code for a malfunctioning Vtec solenoid, does it mean I need to replace the solenoid or would I solve it by just replacing the gaskets inside?
Thank you by the way, I finally know why I’m leaking oil so bad, mechanic is trying to scam me into replacing all the other seals in the engine

    • @QB_Magic

If it has code for it then you need to replace the solenoid.. the gasket is there to stop the oil from leaking..
