Fortunately the most comprehensive video I have seen on this camera so far. So many people offer bits and pieces and maybe suggestions but clearly this guy has his house in order. Very impressive. I have been wondering for over a year how people work with the woefully inadequate built in monitor from Canon in outside settings. So now I see how some people handle that. Sad Canon won't address the fact this screen is so bad outside in medium sunlight. Very poor for Canon to leave us stranded with such a poor screen. Yes I do agree with the issue of missing an SDI output being a critical error on Canon's part. Maybe it was really intentional since they want you to buy their C300 or C500. I would say putting an HDMI to SDi would certainly provide a proper signal but likely with a significant delay/lag/latency. I'd love if they would offer a mod to solve this problem.
Not sure I would add the matte box and I would use a rode mic instead of Deity but for sure the one battery solution is genius. This one video has solved so many issues I have had with the camera in outdoor settings. This is truly a complete solution that doesn't turn a nice small camera into a behemoth. Some people rig it out so much they end up needing a rig to just hold up the rig!

Great video! Very clear and all details are in. I work with the C200 since 3 years. Good tool and works fine, but now I am looking for a new one. The C70 is there very interessing with the shown rig. But first we will see what Canon drops in April. C200 II perhaps ;-)

Nice vid, thanks. I had the small rig top plate for my c70 but I wasn’t completely comfortable with the weight of camera body, lens plus accessories all coming off the one point of contact. I’ve changed over to an extremely refined product by 8Sinn out of Poland. It’s in transit. I may do a video on my build when it arrives. Loved your review on the r6 btw. Very helpful in deciding what 2nd body to buy.
I wish canon would make an evf for the c70…..Other than that I think it’s the best camera I’ve ever owned.

I really wasn’t comfortable in the beginning either but it really doesn’t seem to be a problem. I’ve been running with setup even with a 70-200 for a while now without issues

I like your videos and appreciate that you share your knowledge. Do you have any recommendations on how to eliminate wind noise? I bought a Deity microphone to mount to my Sony AX43 camcorder and it doesn't completely eliminate the darn wind noise. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am thinking of buying a wind blimp, but I have zero clue at what wind speed one should put it on.

Hey, Monkeypixels, really appreciate your video, helped me a lot!! I'm a c70 user as well. I'm trying to rig my camera. One question: does the C70 need 24v D-tap cable? I did some research, lots of C 70 D tap cable selling online comes with an adaptor. But, I saw your cable without one. I'm confused that what kind of cable should I buy.

@@ArtoflightProductions thanks for replying, I've definitely heard of people having this issue over HDMI, particularly on BMCC cams I believe. Do you know what causes it? @@lukeyounge4138 I have a very similar rig and with the v-mount battery, Ninja V, Sigma 18-35mm lens, the camera's centre of gravity is right in the middle of my top handle giving me a nicely balanced camera. It might be heavier but with it being balanced properly, it puts less strain on your fingers to hold it level. With proper centre of gravity, it pivots instead.
Plus the added weight gives the shot extra stability if you're shooting in 24/25p.
