One of the most underrated bands... I'll never forget seeing them live in Bloomington, Indiana... they played Vecktamist when it had just came out. I get chills still to this day in 2021
Grizzly Bear + Blue Valentine = one of the best movie soundtracks ever. Alligator is an amazingly touching, beautiful song that fits perfectly with the movie (which I completely recommend, as I know many haven't seen it - it's about a marriage on the rocks, starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams). Never heard of these guys before the movie, but I already can't stop listening to this. Get the chills everytime I hear it...and I completely love it! Repeat button times infinity!
I agree it’s a top OST. I was at a Department of Eagles concert at the Troubadour in ‘09 and Gosling was there with a few people, at the time didn’t think much about it other than the dude had good taste in music - evidently he was there with Derek scouting great music for their film
Comparing life and love to an alligator. Trying to fight heartbreak, but life is dangerous and it hurts sometimes. Anyway, we have to face it. Beaultiful song.
Its a fear, it is near, the shape becomes ever clear It bears teeth extra sharp thatll cut you in the heart It attacks really quick, try and fight with a stick Theres no use, give it up, this is life and this is love You are my alligator, You are my alligator

CHRIS BEAR shines on this one.....Great progression
one of the greatest songs ed ever wrote. so much better with daniel, chris taylor and bear playing together, though
Daniel and Christopher's playing are the fucking best in the game tbh. so underrated!

Chris and Daniel just made the OST of Past Lives. Check out the movie and the soundtrack. Brilliant.

That. Effin'. Ending. Blue Valentine murders my soul every single time I watch it. this is the perfect song to underline that masterpiece.
This band makes me think of what Crosby, Stills and Nash would have been like had they shown up in the music scene 40 years later.
1:17 this is life and this is love
I really wish they had these studio versions of all their songs.
Chris bear my inspiration...
one of the greatest things ive ever heard
Such talent. Kills me to know that they aren’t more prevalent.
Amazing, absolutely amazing
this is a masterpiece
i wish there were a camera just watching chris taylor work his magic in this.

You are my alligator, You are my alligator
so much emotion, so deep
This is the first song I ever heard by them back in 2009. Still blows me away
More of the drummer for fucks sake...
@tsquared226 i can only agree. grizzly bear's music fits perfectly with the entire movie and this song at the end gave me the chills
PURE GENIUS!!!!
Best song ever!!!
4:05 makes me shudder every time I hear it
Now I want a Wurlitzer.
One clearly tonedeaf person is getting coal in their stocking this Christmas....how on earth can someone downvote this song?!?!
Still a high-water mark for GB
Esse vídeo é com certeza uma das maravilhas da humanidade

AWESOME!!! using it for my school project
Where the F is Little Brother from KCRW session????!!!!
this version is so EPIC, i cant even listen to the measly one and a half minute album version any more after hearing this!
haha thanks but no, i meant what chords is he playing. I can't find a tab for this one anywhere & their stuff is very subtle, tricky to imitate.
youtube-mp3 download.
search it on google and it's pretty self explanatory.
I've never seen a drummer so deeply into such an offbeat rhythm/be at at the same time.
Did KCRW take down their post for this performance? Can’t find little brother or while you wait...
anybody have an idea of what the guitarist is playing?
@transcendenc will do, thanks
