For those doing this be wary of the section around Taklakh lake (I think), they have the bridge blocked off with rocks for what I guess is safety related reasons.
Whose bright idea was it to make it so you needed a tool to check your air filter? Both of my Jeeps are tool free. Looks like a really fun trip, I’ll have to do that sometime.
Had a Toyota Camry following me through one section on my trip. They kept getting out and placing rocks in ruts and dips. Not all sections are crazy hard. Lol On the jungle section you better bring some tree pruners otherwise you will definitely go home with forest pinstripes.
Love the video. Been in WA for 6 years and still haven't really explored it. This is now on my bucket list. Was just curious if you thought about taking your 4runner on this trip or if you considered it?
Hey Chris. My wife is pretty stingy with the 4Runner because it’s her favorite. It could’ve done the trip the same if not better in some ways. I love the Taco and 4Runner evenly.
Great video! Gonna try and do a few sections next year. Noticed the new radio ur using, is better then the stock one u get the with 275? Thats how i got to your channel was the install of the midland radios in the rigs. Where did u get that detailed map? Paper copy.
Hey there, it's Midland's newer handset that has noise cancelling but it's the same radio. There's a link to the BDR website where you can buy a map in the description. Thanks!
The Subaru Adventure Club did the WABDR last year! Was an absolute blast! We had about 20 cars doing it and only suffered a couple tires and a lower control arm getting damaged.
"Topping off" the tank is never a good idea. You can cause expensive damage to the charcoal canister in the fuel evaporative system. It's EXPLAINED in the owner's manual and is about $1,600 for the part plus 3 to 4 hours of labor. If you want to carry extra fuel, carry a jerry can or Rotopax. Your vehicle, and wallet, will thank you.
We had plenty of days ahead of us that we would be cooking on the trail. I suggested Whistling Jacks, but the group voted as well, for Gold Creek in the morning. We don't need to prove how big of "overlanders" we are by roughing it. We are just out here having a good time. We would love to explore more remote places, but this was the first multiday, multi-campsite trip we have taken as a group. More to come!
I rebuilt Bethel Ridge Road back in 1992 Jason.
That's awesome.
So excited :) especially after that intro
Hope you enjoyed it!
That wait has been worth it. The video looks amazing. Fantastic content and locations. Can’t wait to see the next installments!
Best. Video. Yet. Yet, so "cheesey"!!! 😉😄
Too much?! 🧀
@@JasonExplainsThings Never!
So much fun! I would love to drive this route one day! And yeah Toyota air box for the win!
Thanks Kai! It’d be a pleasure to show you around… or head to another PNW state like Oregon or Idaho.
That was great. I started watching the channel because of Chris’ Bison stuff but this video made subscribe. So fun to watch.
Thanks man, appreciate it!
Thanks Eddie!
You guys earned the praise. I’m in Bc so really like the PNW stuff 😊
Awesome adventure!!
Thanks Scott! Part 2 and 3 will be rad as well. I think sections 3 and 4 were my favorite.
Fun video, keep it up boyz eh !
Great series! Can’t wait for the next part!
JASON - did your comms change? Handset doesn’t look like the Midland MXT you installed prior. Thanks!
It's the upgraded handset that has noise cancelling... but still the same radio. 👍
Wasn’t aware! What’s the part number?
amzn.to/3G4yImH
That’s why I love this channel!!
For those doing this be wary of the section around Taklakh lake (I think), they have the bridge blocked off with rocks for what I guess is safety related reasons.
Great video! Fun to see some familiar sites. The challenges were a fun twist. Cinna bears are the best driving snack!
What's it like being the coolest guys on YT?..... God, I need some friends like yall... haha the east coast isn't as much fun! hahaha great video!
I am pretty darn blessed to have such rad friends who put up with me. Lots of "Stop! We need to get more drone shots!" :-)
Awesome adventure so far. Cant wait for part two eh!
2 and 3 are gonna be awesome. 🤩
Whose bright idea was it to make it so you needed a tool to check your air filter? Both of my Jeeps are tool free.
Looks like a really fun trip, I’ll have to do that sometime.
Agreed! I might’ve known I would win that one.
I guess it was Jeep's idea to need a tool!
@@advnateand Chevy copied Jeep, I guess!
(Modern) Volkswagen is the same. A ton of tiny torx screws. A bit silly.
That is a drive my wife and I need to take. Thanks!

Epic video! Can’t wait for the next one! Jason you definitely need a snorkel!
Nice job duuuudes!
The rest of the journey gets more intense. Can't wait to get Part 2 and 3 out to you all! Canada or bust!

What's everyone's favorite road trip snack? Comment below and I'll tell you why you're wrong that it's not Cinnamon Bears.
😂 Twizzlers and almonds are my go to. But Cinnamon Bears are pretty darn good.
I don't remember snacking on Pringles! 🤣
@@advnate that's because they're subpar snacks...
@@PNW_Bison Some people will call it a meal.
@@JasonExplainsThingssmart move counterbalancing your plastic sticks with almonds. Almonds are good. Not Cinna-good, but good!
So far you stopped at all the same scenic sights we stopped at. Which makes sense I guess as we were following the same path LOL
It was all pretty and junk.
Oh man what a trip! Sorry to miss out on that.
We would have loved to have you!
Hope you're having some adventures out there!
@@PNW_Bison Maybe, we need to do the North East BDR and Invite Bjorn.

"The cheese is SO good!" Now we know why Jason was so sure of what Michael stepped in.

The poop belonged to Jedidiah God. Also, l love the content.
😂 Part 2 is in the works! I wanted to get it done by Sunday but it might slip because I’m traveling a little this week.
Very entertaining!
Holy cow this trip was a blast!!! 🤜🤛
Also, ALSO, ...that was dog poop.
WRONG.
Michael you are invited to all adventures! ALSO... when are you getting a truck?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
@@JasonExplainsThings Would you suggest the new Tacoma or the new Bison for Michael?
Great video! I’m going with dog poop.
I don’t know! I think it was next to a sock. Might need to toss those shoes. 🤔😉
Thank you @cecilmartin8110 😅 Jason, that was a dog's sock, obviously.
🤣
what awning is that 18:53!?
It looks pretty sweet
That's a Kammok Crosswing awning.
@@PNW_Bison wow thank you!
Great video - planning my BDR drive for 2025 and this is super helpful!
We did the wandr in August and did the same thing at McClellans ice caves
cheetos puffs are bomb. cool video, tx for sharing! i wanna do this trail now
Watch the full movie of the WABDR! The entire thing is covered.
what do you guys think of the Washington roads?
Great video! Definitely human poop 💯%
😂
Michael my dude... it was human poop. Everyone knows it.
Nooooooooo! Nope. No.
@@True77 🙃 You know it was.
What radios are you guys using?
Midland MTX275s. We have some videos about them as well.
Can you tell me what the paper map your referencing is? I live in The Dalles and want to do the BDR.
There’s a link in the description.
Great video to watch to cheer up after watching the bobcats lose.
Baby Bigfoot poop?
Probably full grown judging by the size of the pile.
i'd like those rear lights on my gladiator

The only thing in my manual states you could spill fuel.
"To avoid fuel spillage and overfilling, do not “top
off” the fuel tank after filling."
Drank that waterbottle like a beer chug lmao
Going out for evening dinner and then followed by breakfast? Get real guys! A Canuck here just saying there is a world beyond the 49th.
