Hello and welcome. Thank you for your interest and the many comments and questions about my air conditioning installation video. If you haven't seen that video yet, you can find the link in the description section or on my channel. In this follow-up video, I will answer some of your questions and comments. Furthermore I will go into detail about the opening of the valves and will install a wifi controller and integrate the air conditioner into my house wifi. The main question from the audience was if the system still runs well and reliably. And I can say that the air conditioner has been doing its job without any incidents for over one and a half years now. Heating in winter as well as cooling in summer has always worked very well. Let’s get to some of the comments. For example, this question: Couldn't the copper pipes be shortened? Or is there a reason for them to be 10 feet long? The air conditioner was delivered as a complete set and was prefilled with the right amount of coolant for the included pipe length. Maybe it could have been shortened a little bit, but I didn't think about that because it has to be done correctly with flanging tools and such and I didn’t want to spend my time and effort on that. A quick note about the insulation of the lines. The two pipes have different temperatures during use. In retrospect, I would rather insulate each line separately and with thicker insulation rather than both together. In the comments it was criticized that the screw connection of the indoor unit is now inside the wall after installation and so maintenance on this connection would be difficult. First I would like to say that I have never taken the unit apart since the installation, as there was no reason to do so. Nevertheless, next time I would probably take the precaution of laying the indoor unit's connecting cables along the back of the indoor unit over to the left. The hole would then be drilled behind the indoor unit on the other side. This is absolutely possible because of the construction of the indoor unit and if the length of the lines are not too short on the outside, then it could work, so thanks for the tip. Naturally there were critical comments about using a hand pump to create the vacuum. I can understand that, but I just wanted to know if it would works and the system runs really well and quiet. Since I followed the torque specifications of the screw connections exactly I am positive that the connections are tight. The next time I install an air conditioner, I will get an electric vacuum pump or hire a specialist to do it. Some of the comments indicated that the procedure of vacuuming the subsequent opening of the valves was not shown clearly in the video. Therefore I will show this in detail now. Here both lines are already connected to the outside and indoor unit. On top we have the low pressure valve and on the bottom, the high pressure valve. On the upper valve is the service port where I create the vacuum. The service port is equipped with a Schrader valve, which only opens the valve when I press the pin in the middle. Through this connection the vacuum is automatically created in both lines and the indoor unit. Only after that, the valves to the outdoor unit are opened at both connections and the connection to the compressor is established. First remove the screwed-on protective cap. Then you can open the high pressure valve, from the bottom with an Allen key. In doing so, the refrigerant flows from the precharged outdoor unit into the vacuumed lines. Now the upper low pressure valve can be opened and now the circuit is completely open.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to make the video. Have you experienced any short or long power cuts while you have been using the wifi controls. And what happens when the power is restored? Does the wifi control kick in and the air con turn back on as per any schedules and automatic settings?

Hi Carl, great job, very informative (both parts). I'm about to install my AC. I've bought vacuum hand pump like yours. I'm able to get 25 InHg Vac in few strokes, but not more. It might be, that my pump is not as good as yours. Question: How long did it take you to get almost -30 InHg Vac? You have achieved -.97 Bar. Can you please advice? Thanks in advance, Regards & respect :-)
