your teeth look great. i’m at tray 27 of 40 on my invisalign plan. definitely has been a really good experience, especially over the past two weeks where after i received polishing, my teeth moved so fast in the matter of hours. can’t wait to reach the end of treatment and see if there’s anything i can do to get maximum results, it’s very easy to become adjusted to the aligners to the point where i can’t imagine myself living without them, lol.
Thanks Raphael. I totally get what you are saying about ' i can’t imagine myself living without them'. It is a bit odd when you can actually go about life without them. 😂
@@jimlicious late response, but yes, polishing. the correct term is IPR or interpromiximal reduction. when there isnt enough room for all of your teeth to fit in because of crowding, minuscule incisions are made to the sides (or "polishing" - think of filing nails) in between teeth to make them fit and move faster. as a result no teeth need to be extracted. fortunately this process is painless however can trigger sensitivity. i'm at week 35 of 40 now and the difference is unimaginable.
Thanks for the update. I have open-bite and started my treatment since last year around April with Dr Smile here in Germany. The treatment has been nothing, but unsuccessful, i noticed it at the beginning, voiced my concern, but they aren't professional and just told me to continue to wear my aligners. Fast forward, the open-bite on my teeth isn't properly closed, big gaps have developed in-between my teeth that wasn't there before and one of my front teeth is now longer than the other, which was also not the case before. I would have contacted Invisalign instead of Dr Smile. Dr Smile said they will do a follow-up treatment, but I just don't trust them anymore, because i saw their incompetence right at the very beginning of my treatment. I told them my teeth weren't closing properly, but the open-bite were getting bigger. They didn't even do any check up on my teeth, they just said, keep wearing your aligner.
Looking good 👍. I am on tray 4 of 37 so early days for me. I need crowns fitting to two teeth on completion of the Invisalign. Also, ideally one implant is needed so I have a long way to go yet! Some of my teeth have been filed and I have had 'buttons' fitted to some. My only negatives so far was a tendency to bite my cheeks when eating. Also, because of the poor condition of my molars, eating things like nuts is quite painful. I wish I could have had the crowns fitted at the start! Can I ask if you think the permanent and night time retainers are both necessary? Look forward to seeing your final update 👍
You have some way to go, but great to hear you are on that journey and it certainly sounds like you will be very happy in the end. It will be for good reasons the crowns are not being fitted now. I am not sure how necessary both are. I think I could have gotten away with just night time retainers and I have seen a lot of info to suggest this is fine. That said, I took the advice of my orthodontists who are much more experienced and knowledgeable than I am. Like anything there are pros and cons for each. I do like the extra piece of mind that comes with having the permanent ones in place. Like when I did forget to wear my removable retainer one night, I knew it wasn't the end of the world because I have my permanent retainer. It gives me extra peace of mind, particularly so soon after having moved the teeth. I know many find flossing more difficult with the permanent retainer, but I can't say it bothers me that much.
I was similar to you. I initially had 38 trays. Although I changed them weekly, it took me over a year to complete. I had 11 refinements. The real problem was the pandemic and the closure of my dentist. I opted against the permanent retainers because I imagined I’d have difficulty flossing. I understand about water flossing but I don’t have the space. I got an implant after. All is good
Thank you for posting. I just need some confirmation that I'm not going crazy! My front teeth is sore when invisilign is out. I can't use them for biting. I'm chewing from my back tooth. It's day 4. Is it normal for the front tooth to be so sensitive?
It depends on each individual case and which teeth the aligner is focusing on in your particular instance. But, from what you describe, this sounds normal. It should ease within the coming days.
Seems quite common that the time estimate they give you is an underestimate. I think in your first video you said they quoted you 14 weeks, but in this one, you said one year. So quite a difference
You can't accurately predict how peoples teeth will move unfortunately. I did say that I misunderstood my treatment time. I thought 14 weeks, but actually 7-8 months. So technically a few months longer. 😀 Worth it though.
Excellent video! I just started using the Invisalign yesterday so this is my first full day. So, the permanent retainer that you use after treatment is attached to the braces that I saw in your mouth on your lower teeth? That is something that you will have in your mouth permanently? It seems like you could just have an Invsisalign in your mouth at night while sleeping without the brace but I guess that fortifies it right? Thanks
The permanent (metal wire) retainer is bonded (glued) to the back of the teeth in the upper and lower jaws usually. The plastic removable retainer/aligner tray is worn at night in addition to the fixed retainer. The fixed retainer is not attached to the removable one in any way. You could not have the fixed retainer and wear just the removable one, but many dentists prefer to place the fixed on for extra strength and help limit movement for those that fail to wear removable retainer every night.
This is a great video series. Did you have any issues with tracking during the process? My most recent aligner was the worst fit on one side near the back and I used a chewy like crazy to get a good fit, which was very uncomfortable but necessary. Hopefully my teeth will be done after this first round but I'm more aware of revisions thanks to your videos. Also I've been given the option of one standard retainer or else paying extra for three vivera, what made you choose the three vivera?
I have had no issues with the fit of my aligners. Although I used the chewy things, I didn't need to go crazy with them to get them to fit. Maybe 1 or 2 where particualrly tight for the first few hours but none that felt really off if you see what I am saying. To be honest with the retainer, that is just what my orthodonist offered in the standard package.
We're sorry to hear something doesn't feel right. Can you give your ortho/dentist a call to explain? We'd like to follow up, too, to make sure everything gets resolved. Please contact us: bit.ly/3e0Lp33
Yes, it does to a point. Those teeth that have the bonded (permanent) retainer can't be flossed with regular floss really. I use interdental brushes with little issue though. I also use a water flosser from time to time for a bit of extra assistance.
Technically correct. However, my orthodontist made sure my retainer was designed to allow for the bonding, as they knew I was having it done. They put a a very crude bit of bonding on the tooth to get the basic shape for the purpose of the scan.
One question! What’s the point of wearing your aligners overnight if you already have the fix retainers?. Any reason for that? Is the first time I’ve came across with this, thank you so much!
It is because the permanent retainers attach to just the front teeth only (the 6 or so at the front of the upper and lower arch). Whereas the removable retainer covers all teeth in each arch. When aligning teeth it isn't just the front teeth that are moved. The removable helps retain the position of the teeth at the back of the mouth. Plus because the removable retainer covers the front, top and sides of the teeth it adds extra pressure/control that the wire bonded to the back of the teeth can't give. I hope that makes sense.
@@ElectricTeeth im doing a similar treatment at home, they say that I will just need the fix retainers, probably because they only are moving the front teeth or I hope so otherwise what a waste of time and money for me!
@@srjuanjoAlso my dendist told me the retainers would be enough after the treatment, and how is your invisalign journey right now, could you give an update please?
I am just wondering how much it cost? I think have dental underbite (crossbite) and my upper teeth is missing 1 premolar each side. They suggest to remove 2 bottom premolar and then Invisalign. They suggest £4k for 12 months treatment. I am just wondering if it is worth it. Does it fix snoring a bit since I notice my teeth dont close nicely in the current configuration
Personally I say it is worth it, but it is a personal decision based on your finances and personal desires. I am not sure it will fix snoring. It might assist, but not something I know of being a fix as it were.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I've just started and was looking for inspiration to focus on the end goal! You've certainly provided that! One concern I have is that does the permanent retainer affect speech. Someone told me it will cause a lisp!?
Yes. Hard/crunchy or particularly sticky foods pose more of a risk to the permanent retainer, so one should perhaps be a bit more cautious, but it shouldn't really stop you eating anything.

Do you get to choose between permanent retainers or removal (night) containers? Or does it very from person to person as I see you have both
It will vary on the orthodontist and your preferences. Ultimately you have the choice.

One of the orthodontists informed me that using invis aligners will switch the tooth to normal over years like after 40Years..
What do you mean switch the tooth to normal?
Did you get premolar extraction during this Invisalign treatment?
No. I had this as a young teen as part of my first set of braces.
Is it ok to only use permanent retainers if only front teeth needed alignment.
If you have the wire bonded in back of your teeth why do you need to wear the retainer ??
It help keeps those teeth not held by the wire in place and adds an extra option for ensuring no tooth movement.

I haven't noticed this. If it does/did you naturally adjust very quickly.

Oral-B Pro 2 2500 is my top pick as per this video. ua-cam.com/video/gfyjtvmLfY4/v-deo.html
Maybe lasik next?
Nah, I'm good.

Yes. Hard/crunchy or particularly sticky foods pose more of a risk to the permanent retainer, so one should perhaps be a bit more cautious, but it shouldn't really stop you eating anything.
Teeth look decent but why are the two top teeth in front so much more forward than the rest of the teeth?
I don't think they are. Might just be my teeth/jaw. When closed my top front teeth sit very tight to my bottom front teeth. No big gaps behind etc.
Contact lenses next bro
Should have just got train tracks. I paid 800 quid for them.
