    Thank you so much. I find myself in a similar position to yours based on the initial assessment of 14 aligners for my case. It was interesting to see that in your case you had to go triple the initial time, so I’ll keep my expectations lower regarding the total treatment time. It was great watching all your videos. Congratulations for the results! Cheers

    I am currently halfway through my 15-month Invisalign procedure. My teeth already look perfect to me. In fact, at my last checkup, my dentist's assistant thought that a couple of bottom teeth could use a tiny bit of rotating. She did a new scan of my teeth and said that even if the dentist does not agree with her assessment when he comes in to check, we can use the scan to make my retainer. That signals to me that I could be done if I choose not to do the refinement. I did agree to do it and was told to wear the current trays until my new trays are made in three or four weeks. Well, it has been six weeks and still no new trays! My question is, since I'm stuck on the same trays for six weeks and they're not really snug anymore, are my teeth being harmed or being moved slightly out of position now? Of course, I can't ask my dentist because he'll claim everything is fine as he scrambles to find out where my new trays are. I'm wondering if they lost my scans or forgot to send them to Invisalign for printing up.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 роки тому +6

      I appreciate your concerns. I went through a similar time period wearing the same set of trays as new ones were made for refinements. Demand for Invisalign is high at present so there may well be delays a bit longer than normal but I would have thought you would have gotten them by now.
      The trays you are using will be fine as they will be keeping the teeth in place. They will feel a a little looser as they are no longer really having to apply the pressure they once did as your teeth have moved. Now the aligner is acting as a retainer.
      I would chase your dentist for an update.

      @@ElectricTeeth - Thank you for replying and putting my worries aside! I called my dentist twice and will call again in a day or so if I get no response.

  • @e.castlerock8454
    @e.castlerock8454 Рік тому +1

    Your final result is great! I just finished my treatment. It looked perfect after 34 trays, but the orthodontist thought a couple of teeth on the bottom could use slight rotating. We did refinement trays, but then it opened up gaps because he forgot to check contact points with floss. So more refinements. Gaps didn't close up enough, so he cut out the molars on the remaining trays. Helped a little, I guess, but I'm sad I didn't insist on stopping after the 34 trays. I have now been wearing my retainers a few days. Is it normal to have the wisdom teeth cut off the retainers? I feel like gaps between teeth on the bottom left side are bigger because floss goes in way too easily. Would this be as a result of the wisdom teeth not being covered by the retainer? Also, he told me to wear the retainers 22 hours a day for a month. The usual is 3-4 months to firm up the area around the roots. Is there harm in only one month? Should I just go for two anyway?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  Рік тому +1

      Hey. I can't say if it is normal to have wisdom teeth cut off retainers. It probably depends whether they have come through properly or not. Mine for example are only and will only ever be partially erupted and so they don't get covered with the retainer. I can't imagine missing them off will really have much of an impact because those teeth won't have been moved with the braces originally.
      Gaps between teeth are not always completely equal. I use different sized interdental brushes between some teeth and others. It varies from one person to another.
      Do you have a permeant/bonded retainer too or just removable?
      If just removable, the longer you can wear the retainer the better but ultimately you will likely want to enjoy your smile without the retainer. If you are happy to wear for 2 months rather than 1, there is no harm that can come from this.

    • @e.castlerock8454
      @e.castlerock8454 Рік тому +1

      @@ElectricTeeth - Thank you for answering all my questions. I only have the Vivera removable retainers. I had asked my orthodontist why only one month. He said because I wore the trays so well and maintained cleaning of my teeth throughout. I read later that it takes a few months to firm up the root area, so it has nothing to do with how well you wore the trays. Thanks for putting my mind at ease about wearing them longer. I don't really want to, but I will, just to be sure.

    Thank you so much for these videos! I'm about to make the leap myself, and perhaps I'm in a similar position to you - early/mid 30s, no functional or health issues with my teeth, just a brit with British teeth (never had braces as a kid and slightly wonky teeth). Your comments on not needing to have invisalign but wanting to go ahead anyway resonated - so one question: would you do it again, knowing the effort required? And did the pain disrupt your sleep or ability to work at all? Thanks again!

      I am glad you have found the videos helpful Dorothea.
      Yes, I would do it again. I won't lie at times they were frustrating. Just the inconvenience of taking them out for eating etc. But, it was well worth it.
      I really had very little pain and what pain I had was temporary. It's not the same for everyone. Perhaps I am a bit more tolerant of the discomfort. The pain was worst in the first week or so. I think only once or twice did I take some painkillers just to help ease the aching. It never affected my sleep that I recall.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 роки тому +1

      The main thing is I misunderstood the time frame. I was given 14 trays to begin with and I thought that was it. But turns out that was just the first batch of trays. 😬 The original treatment plan was estimate to be around 8 months. It ended up being a bit longer due to the pandemic and extra trays required to 'refine' the changes and get them looking right.

    Great results, John! I'm currently undergoing Invisalign, and also believe I will go through whitening and bonding at the end of the treatment. As bonding will change the shape of your teeth - did you require another set of removal retainers to account for this?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  Рік тому +1

      No. Because my dentist knew I was having bonding done, they made allowances for this before creating the retainer.
      What they did is added a bit of filling material to my tooth where the bonding would be completed. Think of it like a really cheap and nasty version of having the bonding done. They did this for the the purpose of the scan of the teeth to have the retainer made. The filling material was then removed.
      I then had the cosmetic dentist complete the bonding properly and the retainer fit perfectly due to the temporary filling material placement during the scan.

    I have watched your Invisalign series with interest. I am on day 3 of my first aligner. Interesting to note a lot of people saying they are on aligner x of y weeks. Mine are changed every 10 days so with a planned 34 aligners currently that will be 340 days so 48 to 49 weeks. I will also needs rubber bands from about week 5 or 6. I am having no issues wearing the aligners but I find them a little difficult to get out. I have also found in one area my teeth are really sensitive to the point I can't brush them! I have already given up with my electric toothbrush in favour of a soft manual brush. Does that go away? Any tips?

      Interesting yours are every 10 days...
      Many complain about getting them in and out. You can get tools to hook under/help. But you might just find you need a bit more time to get the technique right.
      I didn't experience this issue of sensitivity but I am not entirely surprised. Its most important to keep brushing. If you don't notice some improvement within the next week or so, have a word with your dentist to make sure there are no issues etc.

    🙋🏻‍♀️ My dentist supplies Reveal aligners, and I've had a quote for treatment which will last 24 months. My front teeth are overlapping and bottom front teeth have moved backwards and slightly apart. Do you know if Reveal aligners are of the same quality as Invisalign? Would you say aligners have more pros than cons when compared to fixed metal braces?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  Рік тому +1

      I don't know enough about Reveal to comment honestly. I suspect they do a comparable job. Invisalign are just the premium/most popular brand. Providing the treatment is dentist led, that is a good start.
      Personally, yes, I think aligners have more pros than cons. The more discreet nature and you can take them out when you need to.
      I didn't wear them a couple of times for special events etc.
      It depends on how compliant/committed you are. I have heard of many who don't wear the trays long enough, because they can take them out and then subsequently, teeth don't move quickly. So if this is you fixed is better because you can't remove.

      The main drawbacks are your teeth can be sensitive whilst you whiten them. You generally need to try and avoid more staining food and drinks during this time if you can help it. I know it’s all for the best, but eating is no longer enjoyable. I just want to finish eating so I can clean my teeth, and the trays, and get them back in so they can do their job. They’re not uncomfortable to wear but 12-14 months is a very long time, unfortunately.

      I am not sure if you saw one of my earlier videos in this series, but I misunderstood the timing.
      I was given 14 trays in my first batch. I interpreted this as all I would need when in actual fact the claimed time frame on my paperwork was much longer.
      I thought I would get all the trays and just have checkups along the way. I didn't realise the trays were provided in batches. They do this in case changes need to be made to future trays and therefore they are not manufacturing aligner trays that will never be used. So, I think 12-14 months sounds about right. 👍

    Help? How does your body work something out of your gums, that you can't get to on your own, if they are always in an Invisalign tray?

      Err when you take the trays out to brush and floss?

      If you have something lodged in your gum your likely going to need to see the dentist. Your gum doesn't tend to work these things out.

      As a non-smoker I can't comment. I am presuming the advice would be avoid it and if you have to take the aligners out.

    How can someone w multiple root canals and extra teeth straighten them?

    • @TheLegendarySlug
      @TheLegendarySlug 2 роки тому +1

      I had a root canal and 2 teeth with crowns right next to one another and Invisalign does fine with moving them. If your mouth is too crowded your ortho may give you the option to have some teeth extracted but it will certainly add time onto your treatment process.

      Joshua Lewis - I've had a few root canals and I have many crowns, top and bottom rows. I am currently in the middle of my Invisalign procedure and already my teeth have straightened beautifully. Also, my bottom row was overcrowded and would be getting worse with age. One tooth was being pushed into a row by itself! This also has been corrected already. My dentist assured me that having crowns is not a problem.

      @@Heleous281 I’m only on the third tray, changing every 2 weeks so it’s still early on but already I’m seeing my bottom row come into line. Really don’t find it all that painful either.
